Any language that isn't English that is selected in the PAL version shows OPEL in the game.

Okey this is may be slightly off topic, but i was fiddling around the track codes on GTPSP and i have discovered that Pikes Peak and Grindalwald in GT2 where supposed to be in GTPSP, but didn't make it! I doubt anybody knows about this! To all hackers on here who are good at coding please see if you can help me make these tracks playable! This could uncover even more answers to both GTPSP and GT2!
EDIT: Nevermind hardtofind beat me to it, nothing to see really.

I went back through the demos of GT2 to see all the cars that were left out (and could have been in) from the final game, here's what I found:

A lot of these were never started, it's a shame.

I thought the BTR4 is in the game, the body anyway? The GTS-R Le Mans is probably the Oreca Edition. And it would've been cool to see the Paganis in GT2. I'm assuming license agreements were retracted, thus not allowing those car models to be made?

The BTR4 is in the game, yes, but it's hidden away and uses the BTR body. I'm not sure if the BTR4 had a different body, or the same one.

Hmm... Well, the [R]FET SPORTS SUPRA'98 is in the game as the RM for the TRD 3000GT, as is the [R]Peugeot 406 TOCA TouringCar (RM for the Peugeot 406 Sedan), the [R]Dodge Viper GTS-R Le Mans'99 is just the Oreca Viper in the game running the livery that Oreca ran at Lemans in Y2K...

Still sucks that the rest of the cars on that list couldn't be finished in time/PD couldn't get the rights to include them in the game.

Do you think you can show me were you found all this? What demo was it?

heres BTR4

Peugeot 406 ToCA is in the game and is used in one the licence tests.

Polo G40 would be nice add such as Escort :(

Tigra Chamonix (not Shamonix)

Thanks for those, i'll edit the list. Thing is with the 406 TOCA car is that it's listed in the data as a separate car, so I wasn't sure if it was a different car and added it anyway.

Like the 406 TOCA car, the FET SPORTS SUPRA was listed as a separate car in the data, so I wasn't sure if it was a different car or not.

Do you think you can show me were you found all this? What demo was it?

The data is a mixture of different demos. I used the following:

  • Euro Demo 87
  • Euro Demo 53
  • Gran Turismo 2 Bonus Playstation Disc

Darn i wish i had the Euro Demo 87:indiff: Alot of interesting cars.

Wow, if only Sony wasn't rushing Polyphony Digital and let them have at leat 6 more months to complet the game. It would've been a whole lot better.

I have been going through and buying every car in the game and i have discovered even more hidden race modifications than i think anyone knows about and i know there hidden because when i tried to apply it to the car through the game itself it said it wasn't available, I had to use cheats to apply it. So with that said i think theres more cars that we have never seen before! This is kinda a stupid question but i was looking around and i found another Lancer evo rally car (like the one in randomcarguy7's avatar) and i was wondering, is it a secret car? I have never seen it til now.

It's definitely a secret car. You can't obtain it through normal gameplay so you have to use a gameshark to unlock it.

If I remember correctly, it's Kaz's Lancer.

Gosh i can't believe nobody has found it til now! However i must point out that there are several Lancer evo's with racing mods that are almost exactly like it. They aren't hidden, there just stock evo's with racing mods like it. This one im talking about however is rally car, it's not a body only car, all performance is intacted. I don't remember which kind of evo it is, but it's one i ain't seen until now. In case your wondering Xenn i have been using the "Buy any car" code to get all these cars. I haven't bought every car in the game yet, but when i do, i will provide a list of these hidden racing mods and whatever other hidden cars i found.:)

It's actually been found for a while now, the code for it is on some websites but not much attention was given to it.

Obiously yea, that link you posted on your gameshark page for the buy any car code had it on there, that's how i got it in the first place. It's like that CLK Race Car pretty much, all parts are accounted for and it's not a body only car. I'll make a list some time of the hidden cars i have found and pictures and post them here.

Oh yeah, that secret Evo V Rally Car. I'm trying to find the code to buy it on that Cheat Code website that Xenn showed the link to on his cheat code list for GT2.

I have the cheat code for it and i will locate it for you, what version do you have of the game?

In response to the "hidden drag strip" on Laguna Seca, i was messing around the demo version of GT2 on my pizza hut demo disc 2 and i was racing on Laguna Seca and decided to curiously look for the hidden drag strip, didn't think it would be there but i was! Believe it or not it is more complete than what the full version is, still not the best though. I made a bunch of screen shots of it and i even managed to identify particly the whole thing! I even found what looks like to be a second drag strip on laguna seca as well! I don't mean to brag but i think i may have the best possible photos on here! I'll try and upload them soon! :)

Actually, I managed to found it. oh, I originally just had v1.1, but I now have v1.0 & v1.2. I got them both off of amazon.com, but I only remember ordering v1.2, I got the ordered screwed up and now I have 3 variations of the same game. I found it by looking at this code list. http://www.lecoyote.net/gtweboldbc/gt2actio.htm

If it's the Lancer your talking about then yea thats was the site i found it on to. I think it's time we shine some light on the lost Evo so everyone one can see it! :)

It's simply abandoned modelling at Laguna. Thats it.
No i know it's a drag strip because i saw the split roadways like what a drag strip has on both of them! They both have different markings from each other as well as laguna seca itself. Im telling you, there is two dragstrips and i can even prove it! If i knew a way to easily upload photos i would show you!:)

I could upload my profile picture, but I actually found that picture I have on google. Or I could take a picture of the car in my gamesave with a camera or something.

I also know that this evo V rally car was Kaz's Evo V, I still have no idea why the car was removed from GT2, he should've kept it. I also wonder why neither of the 2 evo V rally cars never made it to the later GT games.

There are so many things in GT that could be added but there not:grumpy: Im not sure as to why it was cut ether, frankly i think ether they ran out of time to make it available through the normally due to the fact the game was rushed or maybe that was a car he kept personal in the game for only hackers to find. (Sounds kind of dumb but frankly i kind of think so)

The stuff you see outside of the track is just random garbage data. If you do this on other courses, you'll get similar things like that.

The different markings is another example of that, the marking data is part of the garbage data when outside of the course.

Well you do have a point there and i do believe you on that, i see it on other tracks to, but i am positive this is a drag strip because it has a totally different layout and it even has closed barriers from one point to another as well as two lanes side by side just like a drag strip. If i knew how to post the pics i made i would show you.

In ways like this, Gran Turismo 5 is like Gran Turismo 2 since they both would be better games if Song wouldn't rush Polyphony's work. I still can't believe I was able to drive this, I just started messing with cheats like this a week ago. It feels like that I've unlocked some type of GT themed treasure chest. I want to try out cheats on the GT2 demo now aswell, too bad I don't have the pizza hut demo.

Yea i have access to every single secret car and track in the game, like i said there are some cars no one knows about at all really, there mostly hidden racing mods but still it counts. About this evo, what exactly are you and Xenn talking about when you say it's "Kaz's car"?

Try to go through it with the car trying to keep a constant speed, then take note of the moment you reach it and of the moment it ends behind your wheels: you can calculate the distance approximately: if it's something like 1/4 mile or 1Km that would be a good evidence...

Last moment idea: once upon a time, there was a tool to decompress gt2.vol file inside the GT disc: you could copy everything from the game on your HDD and then explore without playing the game. It was mainly used in the first 00s years to make ports of the cars to other games, such as NFS porsche or similar. In my opinion this is the last method we can try to seriously find proof of that thing or exclude once for all. The only problem is that the file was hosted on a geocity site which has been closed some years ago, and, even if I remember of having downloaded it, it's no longer on my computer, so if someone's got it, there's the last chance.
