EDIT: Here's a screenshot of the beta Course BG in the demo; as I expected, it's really nothing of significance. It's the same basic course BG you see hidden in the final game. It's purpose was just to be a background for the Arcade Mode loading screen.

Interesting. Doesn't the final version have a skybox though? This one doesn't.
Also, what about the other one (Background car)?
I'm talking about this:

I want to see if it actually revolves faster than the other cars. A video would be nice if possible. Thank you in advance :D

Actually no, the final one looks like this:

I haven't checked that out yet, but like I said before about the beta course BG; I honestly think it won't be anything significant. I mean, it's just a bunch of random track textures on a car platform. I guess I could post a video though.

EDIT: Alright, here's a short video I meshed together showing both beta backgrounds. I did it anyway since it doesn't take long to do something like this.

Nice. It does revolve faster!
Also, notice how the COURSE BG revolves faster when we can see the rest of the track, and not the side view.

I do see that, but I still don't get what was so important on looking at the course BGs.

2 new videos that contain all of the North City cars in a whole. You most likely saw a lot of cars here before, but there's still a couple of things that may be new to you.

Sorry for the long wait guys. Unfortunatley there is nothing interesting...
You mean in the magazine?

There may be differences in the beta one, and what was the first background car going to be? Was it going to be a car menu background, a track loading background? It also looks incomplete.

Vectra in beta version is before facelifting, in final release is after this. *opel vectra expert* :D
Honestly, I'm not so sure about that being a facelift. I thought the Vectra in GT2 honestly looked more like the performance model; the i500. Also, I've checked on google for a facelifted Vectra B and none of the pictures I found had a Vectra looking anything like the final GT2 Vectra.

Any important West City related details/changes in the demo?
I haven't gotten there yet. Don't expect west city at the moment as I'm going to do Nissan next.

There's not much to say, the early BG car could have possibly been a background for the Simulation mode loading screen for when you enter a car into an event or simply been the original Arcade mode loading screen where you would see the starting grid.

Possibly the Simulation mode one.
Still yet, I was interested in seeing them. Now I wonder if there are any other strange cars like the BG ones.

Check black, unpaintable parts of Vectra from GT2 demo - it's main difference between facelifted and non-facelifted version. ;)

Oh, you're talking about non painted body panels. Yeah, I can see what you mean about it being facelifted in GT2 now (though I don't think that should count as a facelift, more like a minor car update). :)

That's still not the only update though, the other alteration between the Vectras during developement really seems to me that they decided to go with the performance models rather than the standard models. Here, I can show this:

Beta Vectra:

Final Version: Though, it seems PD got lazy to change the label as the Opel version of the Vauxhall Vectra GSI isn't called that and is called the i500.

Something a little to not at all interesting:
The secon BG car was supposed to be surrounded by trees. Look at the trees and look next to them on the ground.

Alright, lets see what West City has...
The 2nd Fiat pretends to be a classic car by having coloured sides and blocked off wheels.
The Alfa 155, Alfa 166, Fiat Coupe, Lancia Y and the Citroen Xsara seem to be non-existant.
One Lancia Delta is Stanced while the other is Jacked up.
Most Alfa Romeos have black spots appearing on them from time to time.
The Alfa 145 seems to have a wheelbase that is a little short.
Some cars have their proper wheels missing, or are replaced by placeholder wheels, Noticeably Alfa 156-2 for the former, Most Peugeots for the latter.
Thats a colorful cast of beta stuff we have here!

This is interesting stuff. I always wondered why the demo version of GT2 had Opals and not Vauxhalls.

Also, that beta Vectra is a pre facelift car. The bumper mouldings are different (post facelift cars did away with the black rubbing strips) and beta Vectra has some pre facelift colour options, like the dark gold colour.

Hello, I'm back with an interesting bit of information. Though, keep in mind that this can also be easily not true.

On one of my youtube videos, a fellow youtube user commented saying that he had a GT2 demo where he could drive a Mazda RX-7, Toyota Altezza, and Chevrolet Corvette along with the Mustang GT we usually can drive. He also described what it looked like, it's silver on the top with a PS1 logo on it (which yeah, all PS1 discs have those). He even gave me the disc code "SCED-02417". If he's right guys, this means we possibly have yet another GT2 demo to explore.

I'm going to see if I can find anything interesting about this disc.

"SCED-02417" leads to this demo disc. Someone uploaded all of the demos in a single video. No different to any other demo.

Gran Turismo 2 at 29:24.

I also downloaded tried a demo disc just now that claimed to have the same id. The demo itself had a different UI, but it gave me the same old GT2 as well. Very dissappointing, I also saw that video you posted after making my previous comment.

Background from Indi is leftover in the final game.

Doesn't appear to loop properly, not sure if this is the case with other track backgrounds though.
Interesting. Very interesting.

I was about to ask recently, but could you get the background files from the demos?

I can indeed, i'll be working on those along with the final game files.

There's a lot to go through, so it might take a few days to get them all done.

I Always liked the original Vectra, i don't know why PD had to change.

That's okey, the ones I really want to see is Red Rock Valley and the early demo version of Grindelwald. Best backgrounds ever! :D

noon_bsp_zps2a13eb46.png~original

Here's early Grindelwald. It appears to use Midfield Raceways background, I assume there wasn't one made for it yet so this is a placeholder.

Hey, how did you open them? These files also exist in the final game!

You'll need to use GT2VolExploder and jPSXdec. GT2VolExploder to open the GT2 .vol files (Be aware that it's a DOS prompt program), and jPSXdec to inspect the various .bsp files, which are the background picture files.
