I was looking around in Euro Demo 53's GT2 folder, and I saw a GT2.EXE file. I tried running it, but all it gave me was a command console for two second. Anyone know what's it's purpose?

Posted by Mattj155, more early GT2 beta footage.

This must be the first time ever we have seen a video footage of SSR11 in GT2, good find Matt.

Offtopic but why that blue-purple ish R34 around the SSR11 reminds me of the GT2000 intro?

Track porting didn't really work. Tried porting Monte Carlo by replacing L_20. Game didn't even boot. Going to retry porting it by replacing Grindelwald.
It didn't work either. Moving on to cars.

That happened to me too, wish I knew why in case I was doing it wrong.

Don't forget, the car or track you are porting must be smaller than what you are replacing.

Polyphony Digital was going to have SSR11 available in GT2, but the track ended up scrapped. There's no official answer why, but I figure that they were going to retouch the track for GT2, but didn't have enough time to do so.

Hmmm, that could be the reason. The courses he mentioned are smaller than Cote d' Azur, I think.

Have you guys tried swapping backgrounds of the tracks? For example, could you have a Red Rock background on Grand Valley? Or nighttime at High Speed Ring?

Small update: .iso file isn't booting which gives us a chance about track porting.
I replaced Laguna Seca with Indi. Game launched, but froze when Laguna Seca was loading. I haven't tried with any other tracks. If anyone gets Indi to work on final version GT2, please let us know.
Trying backgrounds now, and next up are cars.
What is the A4 Estate's file name?
Update of the Update:
File size changed. idk how. Re-trying
Update of the update of the update:
I classify track porting from GT2 demos to GT2 impossible without the game hanging on track loading screen.

Background swapping and track porting are not possible. Moving on to cars.
Anyone got the file names for these cars?

It's not possible at least for GT2 Demos and GT2. I'm unsure about track porting between GT1 and GT2.
I want someone to confirm: Is gas4n and/or gas4r the Audi S4 estate?

Maybe, however I have tried porting tracks from the final game itself to another track in the final game and it still did it. Like I said, I feel like we are doing something wrong here and I think Xenn may know what it is. Lets see what he can find out.

Sounds more like a checksum being the culprit here.

If there is a checksum in place, any kind of modification will result in a crash. But it may not even be this though, so i'm not certain on this.

That's a PS-EXE. The PlayStation reads these .exe files to load the game, or certain aspects of a game.

Bad news. Porting the A4 Estate to GT2 final version was a failure. I don't know if it's because it was an almost incomplete car (wheels were placeholders) or if it has the same fate as Tracks and Backgrounds.

It might be a matter of making sure the files that are being ported have the same filenames as the files that are being replaced.

Can I just say, this thread was first started in 2006. NINE YEARS LATER, it still rumbles on! Amazing. :D

Love the GT2 forums, they just never die. And it still fascinates me that people are digging up secrets in this game SIXTEEN years after release.

So...I turned up late to the party, best get reading through the last few pages about SSR11 in GT2!

What can we say? Every game has it's secrets. I mean, the sarcastic announcer in Wave Race: Blue Storm was found almost a decade after the game's release.
And GT2 has it's secrets too. Not only we're still researching stuff, but there's still more to explore! All we have to do is find never seen before GT2 demos.
