I wish there were some car images out there that would fully fit my 1200x1920-pixel resolution setting without stretching. Of the new Zonda R pics, the only ones that look decent are those that are surrounded in black and when they are centered.
You have quite a few options to prevent that.
For one, you can always crop an image so that it has the exact same aspect ratio as your 1920x1200 screen, which has an aspect ratio of 1.6.
For instance, with a 1280x1024 image, all you would have to do is crop out 112 horizontal lines at the top as well as the bottom, which would result in a 1280x800 image which has the same aspect ratio as your 1920x1200 display.
If cropping might cut out part of the image you want to see, then you can scale down the part of the image you do want to see, and then crop to match the aspect ratio.
In fact, iMotors offers the
exact same images of the Pagani Zonda R in 1280x800 resolution, so they have already done the resizing of the car and croped it for use with 1.6 aspect ratio screens, like a 1920x1200 display.
You can also add additional vertical lines to the image to match the aspect ratio, and then scale it to match 1920x1200.
If you do not want to scale images, you can also simply create a 1920x1200 image canvas, then copy the pic you want to use in that canvas, and then fill in the extra space with what ever you like or whatever might go well with the image. Matching the image background is easy to do, or you could create a boarder/frame of some kind.
Using any of these techniques you will prevent images from being stretched when used as desktop wallpaper on your 1920x1200 display. 👍
