And yet there are still 6 locked slots (which have now been removed...)

I'm thinking Retro DLC, which is likely to be, and better be, free:
Mini Cooper
Datsun 240z
Old Jag has been mentioned in a hands on
Aston Martin DB5 or similar also mentioned somewhere previously

hmm...

I think they just added extra slots to keep people on their toes. They did the same thing with the tracks.

Update:

The Car List is now completed. Except Porsche 918 Concept Study, all previous locked slots are removed from official website.

Finally, Shift 2: Unleashed's Car & Track Lists are all confirmed. An effort of more than a month, and thanks for contributing to this post!

Good job man. Lots of work, well done. 👍

Update:

Added statistics for both car and track lists at the bottom of each list, please inform me of any errors, cheers.

PS: City tracks are NOT counted as Original tracks.

Somewhat short of the 145+ that was being circulated. However, I'm very happy with around 120. Still a ****load of cars 👍 For the most part, great list of cars although I would have liked to have seen a ZR1, Viper ACR and a few other Audis, Mercs and road legal cars that were not present in the original. A bit too many have been carried over imo.
Looks like Shift 2 is more focussed on the FIA GT1 & GT3 cars than the original was which is a good thing.

Does anyone know if all of the cars have a cockpit view?

All cars have cockpit view (Helmet cam & traditional in-car cam), plus - equally high quality model, fully works convertable (similar to GT5's Race Modification), wheels changeable, liveries (skins), etc. :)

To be fair, SMS only had to model 120 cars so they should have cockpit view on all cars. PD had to model hundreds and hundreds and so it's probably understandable that they only have cockpit view on around 200.

I'm just wondering... are all the Shift 2 games out right now "limited edition"? I just bought it from a friend and mine had a Nissan Silvia S15, Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 as an added bonus, plus some extra events for those cars. Also mine is Region 3, so I'm not sure if we all get different cars for different region...

Sadly I can't play at the moment, mom is watching TV. :grumpy:

Not all. Here in the UK it seems that most are just the standards with no bonus cars and around 40 less events. Luckily, I ordered mine from Game that do the LE. Getting ready to send it soon so hopefully by Thursday I should receive it.

I see I see... well I guess I'm lucky enough to get the LE version here this early. Well of course, its different when your buying for a small video game store compared to a retail outlet and I'm thankful I had a friend who lets me know all the games that just arrives at the store. He is even gonna let me test the 3DS next week! :P

Trust me, there's more coming. DLC, DLC, DLC, Promo cars for Dr. Pepper, and some bonus cars too. They say the list is complete, but I've tried some of the extra cars at that event in Guildford a week ago. They're keeping some as secret treats.

Badned at forzacentral.com started throwing up DLC cars for the heck of it on his list.

so you've the limited but how does it works? they give you a code tu use or is just a different version of the game and you have everything in wihtout using a code.

Nice track list and decent car list, though the lack of Ferrari is worse than GT5's lack of Porsche.
I can live without Ferrari in Shift 2 in the same way as I can live with out Porsche in GT5. Though I do prefer Ferrari's to Porsche's.

how so?
porsche's been more important than ferrari in every form of motorsport except F1, so how is only having porsche in a racing game worse than only having ferrari?

Haven't redeemed the code yet, but I saw NFS tweeted this if you need any more information. :)

Oh, and yeah I have the code which comes inside the box with the game. The LE cover is also slightly different from a normal box. (obviously)

Has anyone seen Nevada Freight Depot yet in the game?

It seems like it is hidden. At least I cant find the track. Does it have to be unlocked or is it Limited Edition exclusive?

Considering the game has more road cars than race cars, and considering Ferrari is a more popular/prestige road car company (probably the most) then i'd fail to see how you can argue that.

Personally, I (and many others) prefer Ferrari cars and there have been plenty of Ferrari's in Le Mans series racing (both the 458 and 430 are being raced). Outside of Le mans series races where do you see Porsche racing in these modern days?

Couple of examples

Touring cars? no.
Rallying? no
NASCAR? no
Formula 1? no
Indy Car? no

So i'd say in modern motorsport Ferrari are just as important as Porsche. If you go down to the smaller series races there will be more Porsches being raced, but then also there will be more Mazda mx5's being raced too.

So yeah, personally for me, road cars or race cars i am more of a Ferrari man, which is strange because i'm not a Ferrari F1 fan.

And Ferrari?

Formula 1? yes but not doing very good lately
Indy Car? no

The point was not that Ferrari are more important, but rather that Porsche are not more important.

F1 : Ferrari not doing very good lately is a bit off, considering they narrowly missed the drivers championship by 1 point at the last race of 2010, and also considering this year has only had 1 race done. Do you assume that any team that isnt winning is "not doing very good?"

The cars you like are a matter of opinion, I like Porsche, but I like Ferrari more. In formula 1 I'm more of a Mclaren guy, infact I'm more of a Mclaren guy in general, but Shift 2 does well in that department.
