Since my last visit to this thread, I've bought a house, a kitchen, 6 internal doors, 3 carpets, 2 bits of linoleum and a playseat :D

I now have no money.

Yeah, I couldn't really afford the playseat, but I was fed up of spending money on the house, and wanted to spend some on me....

Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans [1973] (Rhino remaster/expanded version)

This is the 5th Yes album I've bought a second copy of - and the fourth Rhino remaster... the others (Close To The Edge, Relayer and Going For The One) were all outstandingly well remastered, beautifully packaged and dirt cheap. This time I've gone with iTunes, since this is currently going for a ridiculous £3.95... *That's pretty good value, considering it has 6 tracks and the shortest is 17:18

I think I have done my bit for Yes over the years, having purchased the following:

The Yes Album (CD)
Fragile (CD & Vinyl)
Close To The Edge (CD) x2
Yessongs (2CD)
Tales from... (2CD & MP3 album)
Relayer (CD) x2
Going For The One (CD) x2
ABWH (CD)
Union (CD)
Classic Yes (CD) (gift for someone)
YesYears (4CD Boxset)

Sky have at last brought the price of a HD box down to a realistic price in the UK, so on Monday I have one of these going in...

Do they have to do anything to the dish or is it plug in and play with an existing Sky+ box set up?

Speaking to others that have had it done they don't have to replace the old dish or cables, but may do depending on the age and condition of them.

My biggest problem with Sky engineers is that they know nothing about Home Cinema and I don't want them 'trying' to install it and set it up on my system. So I've made sure I'm home and will take care of that side of things myself.

I believe Sky engineers are more of an almost-franchise like set up. I don't think a majority of them are actually employed directly by Sky. I know the one who fitted our dish and box already had his own well established aerial fitting and supplying company and many similar companies in the area who advertise with us also have a Sky installing side to their companies too. Sky probably supplies them with the Sky branded equipment, discount on a smart looking van and obviously the contacts, without having to actually employ these people and all the liabilities this involves. It makes sense really, with them covering the whole nation, but it means that also that the engineers who turn up at your door all have very different levels of knowledge when it comes to AV equipment.

Hey FoolKiller!
Trader Joe's... um it might be closer for you to go to Nashville since they have location there:

And they also have a location here in Indy (its on the Northwest side btw) if that is closer for ya:
Wow, it's like trying to find a good concert or a regional NFL team in Kentucky.

Palm Treo Pro;

Really enjoying using it so far, the camera isn't as good as my Sony Ericsson K800i, but the other features more than make up for that. The packaging was very Apple-esque though.

(Oh, and it was free and not technically a purchase, so don't go telling me 'I should have bought an iPhone' :P)

Ahhh, good old Palm. Although I reckon they ruined themselves with Windows Mobile, quite frankly. If they'd bothered to update their own 12 year old OS I might have paid more attention to their devices. Ho hum.

Oh, they'll be making a huge comeback here soon. Enter the Palm Pre

True multi-tasking, touch screen, Palm OS, integration of IM with SMS, and a bunch of other goodies.

Indeedy. I'll be keeping a sharp eye on that should it ever come to the UK. Cheaper (hopefully) iPhone rival FTW.

I've been meaning to pick one up, too. However, I don't have quite enough stuff that needs to be purchased.

One tip, don't activate it until you can spend the entire amount at once. I'm not really sure how, or if this stealing technique is possible with these PSN cards, but thieves steal the ID number off the card and check it online until it becomes active. Once they see it's been activated, they then steal the amount left and there's no way to get it recovered.

Sure, you can report the theft, but police wont do a damn thing about it.

How are they able to get the ID number off the card?

If they have the number, why can't they activate it themselves?

Something about this just doesn't quite make sense to me. :odd:

Usually the cards are activated at the register, which of course charges you. They (Thieves) get the card number when it's sitting on the shelf, and when someone buys it, they spend the money.

Chris.

As long as the tasty silver candy (from My Name is Earl, by the way) is still on the card, how are they getting the number?

That thing. The toner went in my current Laserjet, and it was cheaper to buy a whole new printer than a new toner cartridge.

It's sometimes printed on the box, if you can believe that. Other times, they open the box, get the number, and close the box back up and reseal it with glue. And yet other times, if the box has a 'window' they just move and twist the package around to read the number via the window.

Oh, and nice job with the My Name Is Earl line! 👍

No box. No window. It's just a card with the silver scratch off stuff. Like I said. As long as that is still there, it should be all good.

And I forgot I snagged Madagascar on Blu-Ray for $15. For once Wal*Mart comes through!

I went to the flea market today in the hopes of maybe finding a model of my car, but I came home with something quite a lot better. I saw many a cool and hilariously racist thing, but when I came across someone selling records I just had to take a look. What I found was something quite a lot better then I was expecting:

And I just so happened to be wearing the shirt today, lol. It's the original album and it also came with two posters and two sticker things. After I got it I stopped at the goodwill store and what do you know, there was a record player there for $10. Today has to be one of the best days I've ever had.

*comic book salesman voice*

BEST BAND EVER.

Here's a picture of the posters and the record player. When I get my income tax check I'm totally going to bring $50 to the flea market and buy a ton of records. When I was there I also saw this ELO record that looked really cool, their music is so so but for $4 it's well worth it for the album cover. I didn't buy it unfortunately since I was using my friends money, but next time I'll buy it if it's there.

EDIT: Here's the inside and the two sticker things for the hell of it.

If the rumors are true that it'll be showing up in Sprint stores late next month, thats what I'll end up going for. Especially if they keep it under $200.

What'd I Buy?

Picked up a two-year subscription to GQ for less than $15. Hell yeah.
