I've mentioned this before, but not many people are on board with it: Kaz does NOT feel that he is in competition with Forza...at ANY capacity. Gran Turismo is Kaz's "vision" as he has stated in the past. His vision, as we are experiencing, does not involve keeping pace with the content, scope, or appeal of other games in the racing genre. Gran Turismo is what Kaz wants it to be regardless of the community's plea for it to "match" Forza. So, with regards to DLC stuff (tracks/cars/features), we may have hope in what E3 has in store. I don't know...we can only wait and see.

Hmm...yet Spec 2.0 came out around Forza 4's release and a large update released the same day Forza gets Porsche. This makes me doubt what you're saying here.

If you're bored of GT5, you're bored of racing.

Oh brother...

GT Academy's free :) ^^^
This is the deciding factor for me. Why pay for more cars when there are over 1000 in the game already. And about the Porsche thing. I don't want it either. A Porsche is just a Beetle to me. And if you want Porsche, go buy an Xbox and Forza 4.

While you have a point, Porsches are great cars and would be great to have in Gran Turismo.

I won't disagree with you, like any other brand they have their fans, I'm just saying that they don't interest me. There are other cars/brands in GT5 that I feel the same about.

In all honesty, more cars are far less important to me these days than having new tracks, be they totally newly created ones or just remastered GT4/3 tracks.

I would like to see and more customisation (rims, bumpers, spoliers). GT4 was very good in this section....and a better second hand market that will include AND premium models....And for the end i would like to see so many favourite tracks from GT4/3 like Seattle and Grand Canyon...and PLEASE DON'T put some cars(Miura, Ferrari, Ford MkVI) with insane expensive credits!!!!!!!!!! it's impossible to buy these cars....

Agreed Pd really needs too put some better cars in. Forza is really owning every game out there on car department. Also everything is PREMIUMMMM...

So you're saying the first time you played it it RROD on you? Really? And thats your reason for Forza being terrible?

No No just No.

Hence why they should have been PREMIUMM...

And counting...

I never said forza a was terrible at all I simply stated the Xbox I owned RROD and I trying state in not so many words that I never went back to xbox

If you're bored of GT5, you're bored of racing.
Wrong. Why don't you just say GT5 is the only racing (ahem driving) game out there.
I love racing but after long loading times tracks not loading just to name a couple of my problems just got kinda boring. Back before the track came up in the background while loading I would switch my TV source to cable and watch something during the loading process. Still love playing GT5 its beautiful but I needed a break. I just now started playing again after about 4 months of it not being in my tray.

This is exactly what Gran Turismo is. It is Kaz's personal game that he made copies for all of us to enjoy. The only thing that the fans get what they want are the bugs fixed or should I say this is the only thing that they are actually applying to the game from their so called feedback. Any and all design choices are not influenced by any fan except for some lucky fan that go to name a song and the rest got reverse lights for the cars:boggled:

This is the way the game has always been, people have been asking for the same things over and over since the first GT. Drag cars no drag racing, just to name one.

Just because I really want to say this, PD also doesn't use multiple out-sourced companies to make their "unique premium" models.

However it's becoming tiring to read that this forum has become a Forza vs GT comparefest. Almost every topic I have read, it's there. It's unwelcoming as a GT site, in my honest opinion.

Its also becoming tiring to read why people use this excuse for PD not having more content. PD sells more games then Turn 10 they should also be contracting modelling out as well. It's time for them to use some of that money to give us a better game instead of spending time and money on a feature that only 4 people will use. Talking about the GPS track feature.

Just read the sig.

It's nothing bad by owning GT5 and FM4, if you are racing game fan and have the budget for it. Then go buy a 360 and enjoy FM4 and GT5, so I did! And I don't regret it. This way I don't miss out the best of both and don't have to be jealous to the other site. :)

I did it months ago, but I still wish PD would get in gear and offer it's faithful something more than the sleep inducing things they have offered lately, I would like to start playing GT5 again.

Not you ^^, but some of these arguments are off. I don't even want to reply to anything. It gets boring arguing with people that can't seem to look at the bigger picture.

BUT, I will say...
The only thing that the fans get what they want are the bugs fixed or should I say this is the only thing that they are actually applying to the game from their so called feedback.
...that this is completely true.

I for one am pretty tired of the 0 new content thing myself, but I don't really blame PD or Sony because its the first time GT has ever had DLC.

I haven't logged in... since uh... Feburaryish? I've done everything in the game that I've wanted to and online continues to be a joke. Interest severely crashing, need new content fix. At this point though, all signs sort of aiming towards GT6 or GT6:P?

Seems PD is really, really wrapped up in this whole academy thing. That's cool and all, but "the academy" isn't what brought GT to me. Its being a damn good game is what made GT hold the disc spot in my various Playstations, and I feel like they're missing that finess which capped off previous sequels so beautifully. They seem sooo... distracted?

Really, I'm not even asking for new cars or even tracks... I had been waiting for a new wheel pack, now that used cars get custom wheels. I think they should've had at least two or three wheel packs by now. I've been waiting for new RM or at least aero modifications. I've been waiting for new tuner parts! Me want more power for certain cars... Hell, give me a new horn pack... how about more filters for photo shoots? Something! These would be enough to bring me back.

Don't really care about lame GT Academy... it doesn't relate to me and what I want out of the game. I'm happy that is a success and something of a new avenue the GT franchise can spin off into, but there is still a game that IS Gran Turismo. Please don't ignore it :(

If you don't want to reply to anything why are you quoting me?

At least quote the whole paragraph so it isn't taken out of context.

More people are complaining about what GT is giving it's fans vs what its fans want. No wonder we don't see DLC because they are constantly having to update their updates.

Out of the top 5 of what the fans want only 1 has actually been given.....
I guess I was wrong

/S

So please tell me the bigger picture I'm sure all of us would like to know.

This Academy that they are doing is great and it's a dream come true for a select few, but this is the kind of stuff that should be farmed out for design and build. As the PSP just something else to take away from the developing time from the main game. And why the hell does it take 30 seconds for the whole driving challenge to pop up map and all?

Even if they throw in some new cars. They will not add any new events or anything like it. So it doesn't really matter if they add new cars or tracks... The game will still be the same boredom.

I'm getting forza pretty soon... Can't wait, but too bad I can only play it round my mums 👎

Great post sir. 👍

I really, really, REALLY want a wheel pack or whatever. Right now I'll buy anything they give me. Talk about NOT using a good oportunity to make even more cash.

I would rather see a wheel shop and livery editor before New cars, they are never going to happen in gt5 so I will be happy with anything just now, PD could make a fortune if they did a classic track dlc pack! for example Seattle, apricot hill, the old Rome track, mid field raceway to name just a few.

I have a solution. Sell your PS3 and get your self an Xbox. If Forza is so great then you should get it.

That is totally ignorant. There is no reason why you can't have both consoles and enjoy both games. Really getting tired of seeing these types of posts which are really immature. Flaming someone just because they play Forza or make a positive comment about that game is just utter nonsense. I have and play both. Each one has its pros and cons. Nothing wrong with making comparisons, but the idea of having to pick one or the other is just ignorant as is your statement.

I gotta admit, I've hardly used any of the DLC cars for more than a few online spec races. Ran a 400pp enduro with the GT86, was is in a series with some of the DLC Touring Cars and that's been it. Between practicing for weekly online races and time trials, I don't have the gaming time to feel like I'm missing out on DLC cars. Do wish there were more tracks of course.

GTAcademy is a big deal for the GT franchise, it's no wonder they want that to be center stage right now.

More cars for GT5 will not save you. Yes, it'll get you excited for the first week or two maybe, but then what? Ask for more new cars? Reality is we can get 500 more cars for GT5, but how much uses will it have in GT5, especially with the minuscule events it has? On top of that, the type and variety will always be questioned due to people's different opinion.

We either need GT6 and release all the new cars with a whole new game concept, or at least fresh new tracks in GT5, if you want the feeling of rejuvenation.

Starting to get a bit jealous of Forza. My Xbox is currently out of commission, so I can't download any DLC...especially the Meguiar's Pack with that sexy '40 Ford .

I admit, I'm getting a bit bored of GT5: offline sucks (though at least they're smart enough to include a "number of laps" option for arcade, unlike Forza), online is dull unless you find a decent room with people who can drive and actually know cars.

The main issue with this is that they just threw away the SUPERB concept that GT4 had: being able to sell prize cars for GOOD money - not a cheap $4000 for something like a Mustang, prize money that was actually decent and rose with your progress, a GT Auto with MANY wheels (even wheels from other cars, ie: VW wheels on a Ford), a used car dealer split into your "typical" used cars and a historics dealership, and many, many more things.

For that, we get: a horribly short A-spec career and a separate (and boring) B-spec career, a screwy used car dealer, less performance parts (who came up with the idea of "pay more for less"? :ouch:), premium and standard cars, a decent online (would be better if we had more options and lobbies created by PD - basically a system like Forza's), an entertaining (though useless) museum, a half-assed GT Auto, an "iffy" course maker (brilliant, though short on options), and an annoying arcade mode. And some annoyingly exclusive stealth/chromeline cars too.

If I was in charge of GT5's release, I'd have given Kaz those extra two years. GT5 is good, but it could've been better.

I could care less about new cars. The thing I love most about GTP is the racing series. Most of the series on here dont use any of the DLC.

I agree with this statement 100%. I felt this way after each DLC car pack that I got for GT5. It was great for a week, but with no new events to try them out on, except for a few seasonals, I quickly had them on the track just for taking pictures.

We need a full revitalization...that is adding more to A-spec and more classic tracks from GT4. I honestly don't see it happening though with GT5, and I think we will all have to wait until GT6 for something drastic (if at all) to happen to the series.

You know, I don't play GT5 for the events anymore as I agree the game structure is seriously flawed, I do play GT5 offline to just cruise around, hotlap or find a good or better set up (or spend ages finding the right colour combos or the right wheels).
If I want to race I go online and I have to say, I still regularly use the DLC cars and what's more, I mostly only use Premium cars (cockpit view addict) so any new addition is quite significant (if it's a 'relevant' addition) considering the limited number of Premium cars in the first place.

There's some huge gaps still to fill regarding certain categories and obviously you can't satisfy everyone (I hugely enjoy the '66 Beetle yet it doesn't seem very popular at all) but I wouldn't call DLC cars a shortlived hype with limited use (if you disregard the game structure as it is anyway).
For most though they seem to be just that, the next big thing is the next big thing apparantly.

I'm not saying Forza is bad. I'm just tired of everyone whining about how flawed GT5 is. If it's so bad then just get Forza.

It is an ignorant comment. What you are saying, in essence, is that "I think GT5 is alright, so you being the ones who are complaining, just shut up and play your Forza. And since only I matter, that's what you should do."

Are we not allowed to make criticism about GT5? Or anything in general for that matter.

I love both games and play both games. I just dislike when others takes it WAAAAY to far imo.

Same here. Its alright to give constructive criticism for each game as they are both far from perfect, but there is no reason to bash people for playing one game or the other. There is also no reason to bash one game or the other. If you don't like Forza, or GT for that fact, there is no good reason to talk crap. about it. It only starts fights and doesn't end well.
Thinking about it, I agree that the lack of cars/tracks is not the onl issue with GT. Its the lack of features in my opinion. From reading these and other forums, I can tell you that interest in GT is beginning to wain a bit and if Kaz/PD don't do something to spice things up, they will lose some of its fan base. I would really hate to see that happen. To perfectly honest, Forza is really starting to get more of my time for various reasons, all of which could be added to GT to make it even a better game. Continued...

Plus, with that new free roam thing coming out from Forza, I think that just going to hurt PD that much more. I just hope PD has been taking notes and comes out with a great GT6. Thanks for reading and remember, we don't have to have these flame wars over these two great games. Constructive criticism is good, bashing/flaming is not. Peace.
