Since Porsche is excluded from Gran Turismo 5, which tuner should be added?

Which Porsche tuner should appear in GT5?

No, they dropped the model names. Just found that since 1995 TechArt has it's own WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier) number, making it an official car manufacturer. Source
Ah, I must have been looking at their tuned vehicles since they still seem to recognize themselves like Gemballa & Ruf; Manufacturer/Tuner.
What I like about Ruf is it's subtleness that makes it profound, while the Techart/Gemballa cars scream "Here I am...Rock you like a hurricane!" enthusiasm. Ruf is like the artist, while Techart/Gemballa are the rockstars.
Exactly, though if I recall, Alois Ruf always thought the Porsche was the perfect platform with a flawless design.

Seeing that RUF will be in GT5 it's gotta be a Rockstar for this poll.
Orange, to go with the 997.

Well after finding out that Ruf isn't the only one considered a manufacturer I really hope PD takes advantage of this and gets these other guys in there as well.

Yea, Gemballa is independent and TechArt is supposedly recognized as a separate manufacturer too, though I am not 100% sure. Also, it's probably way too late to add them. For Gemballa to have been added, Kazunori would have had to ask them as soon as Porsche had "supposedly" rejected the offer.

Porsche is in GT5: RUF would be too but probably not Gemballa.
Porsche is not in GT5: RUF would be and we could hope for Gemballa or TechArt (though I'd like to verify this)

He could have arranged it a long time ago, who knows maybe Porsche told him right after GT3 that they would never have a Porsche in a GT game. We can't say whether or not it is too late to add something because we have no idea what is/is not in the game currently.

Your assuming that he:

1. Expected to get Porsche and thus never asked Gemballa/TechArt
2. Didn't ask them at the same time as asking Porsche, because he perhaps wanted all of them
3. Didn't model them before he even considered asking the companies. He could model the cars and then whether or not they are put in game is determined by the contracts and agreements reached. It would be a very bad idea to only model cars after you get contract approval to have them in your game.

So until we are told otherwise or play the game, we will really have no idea :P

Well, they already had talks. Porsche was fine with their cars being damaged. So, I don't think they ever would say "no, we don't want to be a part of GT".

In regard to your last thought, yea you're pretty much right.

1. Porsche is the frontrunner and I see the others being reserved players just in case the Porsche deal collapsed.
2. Well, I guess this could work. I cannot deny this.
3. Yea, but how much work are people expected to put into making car models when the cars they are modeling have yet to be approved by the maker? (the license from them)

I was talking about the Porsche that appeared in GT3, that may have upset them enough to not allow PD to ever gain the license.

Man Porsche needs to stop being a little b*&$#, get over it, and join the GT family if they are harboring a grudge for that GT3 fiasco.

i don't think this it has something to do with GT3's unlicensed cars since there was a JGTC lamborghini diablo and lamborghini cars are now featured in GT PSP... :sly:

^ The thing was that the "Nomad Diablo" was licensed thru the JDM-market only Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club (JLOC) JGTC (now Super GT) racing team not Automobili Lamborghini. JLOC isn't directly affiliated with Lamborghini at all. The Diablo was only licenced in JDM-Land so the Diablo was not licensed outside Japan.

Porsche isn't mad about that. Just toss em' a bag o' money and all will be fine and dandy. Again, if it's confirmed Porsche is out, it was probably money. Porsche had been in talks with PD and had zero problems with damage (though damage on regular cars seems distant). I am just hoping Kaz saved the truth because the reporter at IGN isn't even a GT enthusiast.

It still required a Lamborghini license as the Diablo GT1 is a factory-made vehicle.

AFAIK it was not labelled as a "lamborghini" car but as a private car (there was no lambo emblem on the car).

hence there was probably no need for a lambo license in japan as long as they had the maker's (Nomad). maybe a loophole in the japanese law? :indiff:

still they used lamborghini's trademark "diablo"... jgtc entry was "88 NOMAD DIABLO GT1"

Um, the JLOC car did have an emblem on it as did chassis WLA12000.

It is still a Lamborghini as the factory is the one who commissioned Signes Advanced Technology to modify the Diablo into the GT1. The issue was that only 2 cars were built & only 1 was sold.
How it slipped through, I have only a few ideas, but the car did require Lamborghini's approval.

It probably went down like this:

Porsche: "Yeah, sure KY, we'll be in GT5, if you kick RUF out. We don't want our cars to be compared to RUFs, it makes Porsche look bad.
KY: "Ah, but I don't want to remove those cars from our game, especially considering their heritage, and performance. Not to mention, all the work on them is done already."
Porsche: "Tough luck"
KY: "Indeed, I guess they'll just have to content themselves with RUFs".

Or any variation thereof.

So, yeah, RUF, because they'll be in. And because the rest is usually over the top anyway.

@Zembla:

I highly doubt Porsche were to be so fickle as to feel threatened by a small company that makes its vehicles off of Porsche's and make Porsche's themselves better. And Ruf loves Porsches.

"Okay off topic!! What the heck does AFAIK stand for? I'm old need to know. "

that's right, i'm not even sure if it was the '99 or later nomad diablo. whatever.
AFAIK stands for As Far As I Know (i'm not even english).
