Skid-marks or Damage

Again this fasination with skid marks? Who gives a rats bottom about skid marks,or back up lights,or horns. What about important things like different tracks?

I can't think of any reason why would anyone choose skid marks over damage.

If locking brakes and not leaving marks is unrealistic, what do you say about crashing and having no effect?

Yeah, and window wipers, I hope it has them that work.

I know you're probably just being sarcastic but If they're going to implement dynamic weather into the game then they better have working wipers for the people using cockpit views.

After seeing that 458 video i expect both, damage isnt implemented for the visual aspect. its so punters will have to become kamikaze. Skids are so basic, there shouldnt be an excuse for that.

lol, actually I was being serious. working wipers would most likely mean weather.

I would rather have skid-marks, it would make me enjoy the game much more over damage.

Burnouts and drift trails = :)

Crashing into a wall and ending your race = :grumpy:

I want both, there you are in 2nd place in an online race round some tight street track and you can't see 1st place yet, coming up to a corner you see the tyre marks leading into a barrier and a piece of bodywork at the end of them \o/

Wicked!

And the smoke gets thicker and thicker as you catch them up!!

Skid marks of course! With damage that is exactly, what you are going to had online a demolition derby!!!

No. I used to play Forza 2 a lot when it first came out and very rarely did the racing ever turn into a demolition derby. If it did, that is because we all got bored and agreed to it and it always turned out to be a freaking blast. Especially after consuming a few alcoholic beverages.

Whenever I would pick a room to race in or make a room myself, I would always set collision on and damage to limited or full (mostly on full). I find the damage system made myself and my friends drive a lot more careful. There were no bumper cars going on because no one wanted to damage their cars.

It made the racing a lot more interesting and requires a lot more concentration when you know that one little slip up can mean that your car will not be going over 30mph until you pit.

having no skidmarks would be like playing Call Of Duty where your bullets don't leave marks on the wall or when you threw a hand grenade you hear the explosion but you don't actually see one - it would be like WTF?

And having no damage would be like shooting someone in the head but they're still alive...

That's an even bigger WTF...

Damage, considering we may never see fully-modelled damage on a road car (as most manufacturers don't want gamers denting their safety cells in virtual reality...) is dead to me. Only way you can implement it fully is to have nothing but racing cars in the game.

And where's the fun in that?

Skidmarks... mhmmm... but not just skidmarks... I want a dynamically modeled track surface that "rubbers" up over the course of consecutive sessions (practice, qualifying, in-race)... I want marbles. Lots of marbles. I want dust on the track, and dirt coming onto the circuit after some idiot visits the run-off.

Infinitely more fun.

You wish - Jessica has too "hollywood-tint" carnation for me (well, I never seen her in person, so it's purely based on the pictures), so while Britney's look isn't exactly my cup of tea, I'd have to choose the "girl-next-door" variant she resembles more. Why did you have to pick so overrated gals for the comparison? ;)

So you pick the bald psycho over the cute girl? Ewww... Alba was a lot cuter before she got popular. I remember waiting up for episodes of "Flipper" (a truly horrid TV show) just to watch her. Cute as buttons back then.

Probably not for a lot of the GT audience when they unexpectedly lose grip and find themselves in the gravel or a wall. Although it does seem to take some time for your tyres to regain their grip after an offtrack excursion in gt5p, or is that just my imagination?

Speaking of going off into the gravel or grass. Can they please....PLEASE take out the stupid rev limit when you're off the track? Feels like the grass and gravel have their own engine control system that is controlling your throttle and rev every time you're on them.

Damage.

In the ultimate driving simulator I would think things that actually effect your race are more important than minor visual detail.

To me the question seems a lot like: When getting a juicy delicious steak, would you rather have it aged and seasoned or would you rather have it served on some really nice flatware?

Well I love a gorgeous presentation and detail counts, but hell if I am gonna pass up the real meat of the experience (pardon the pun).

Aren't skid marks technically damage anyway?

I mean, you ARE damaging the tires right?

Only if the game calculates the tire wear accordingly, otherwise it's just aesthetics.

I just don't get the importance of skidmarks. I'm not against them at all, but it's similar to the reverse lights for me. I just don't give a ****!

I chose skid marks so they can enhance the already topnotch replays. Damage would be nice but i would rather have proper crash physics in its place, i guess that would be hard to replicate without damage eh

I'm all for skidmarks but not in the place of damage. Damage has to be more important and if we get skidmarks it will be an added bonus.
