So......what are Sony and Yamauchi waiting for?

That sounds like you'd still be willing to give rally a chance if it's drastically improved in GT5. Let's say we get great rally physics and some very interesting WRC stages, would you not consider the rally part of the game a valuable addition? I definately would.

One requirement in rally games, no invisible fence or fence lining stronger than a 20 foot thick brick wall. If it has that, it fails!

1337rice, you can do this in Richard Burns Rally... You are put back on track and loose time.
I think that this is not hard to implement. The hard part is making the tracks more dynamic. For example, the Eiger. You would have to remodel the whole track, almost make it from scratch. New objects would have to be added, physics for things flying all over and so on. A lot of code to be written, and each line of code costs more that you can think sometimes.

I think people are forgetting that the game can be released whenever they want it to be, but maybe there is a large update to Sony about to happen the the game wont be able to run on some formats of GT Mobile. It has been mentioned before.. Another thing is, if they are adding in more coding, they would want it to be Clean Code, so that the game runs faster.. We've all heard and seen the troubles we have, which can be disc or Sony faults, so why not try to make the game as smooth as possible?

And anyone who would want to harm innocent virtual people stuck on a loop, is inhumane.

Eastley has a valid point, you don't want to be going round a corner, cutting it pretty close to the edge, to hit some random invisible object, and stop completely, only to realize you have a time penalty for hitting the 'invisible object'..

Also NASCAR would be another big thing.. Seeming as it is such a large sport. There would be hundreds of new cars to put in, and maybe you will be able to choose a customary number for your car.

GT5 will be revolutionary no matter what. And the influence it will have on other racing games will be outstanding. It already has had a large impact on sales of EA racing games, and if it's only competition would be the street racing games, like Need for speed, which has been a rival for so long.

There has to be an invisible wall somewhere. You just can't go on and on forever. How big of a buffer before an invisible wall is good enough?

My big hope for rally is that the courses are narrow. Whether point-to-point or circuit, I just hope they're narrow. The off-road rally courses in GT4 were like 100 yards wide. Not realistic. Oh and it would rock if we get the full pikes peak hillclimb :sly:

A buffer? So I'm racing a rally track, having an awesome time, and my game stops to load? Thats like if there's a tyre on a race track, and a car goes to hit it, and the whole race stops, and some guy comes along and moves it out of the way.. Too unrealistic. *Learnt from Dinnisw* Or having, if there has to be, the 'invisible wall' in a spot that is basically impossible to hit, unless you are a seriously bad driver. Which is almost nowhere.

They are waiting for the game to be completed, evidently.

+1

I don't mind the wait (as annoying as it is). And I'm glad Forza 3 is running alongside GT5, cos (as mentioned by others already) I think it helps GT5 up its game a bit. I'm glad polyphony have one eye on Forza 3 cos I think GT5 would only be 90-95% what it will be had there been no such 'direct' competition.

What does stopping to load have anything to do with what I said? I have no idea what you are getting at with the tire on the track comment. Like I said there has to be an invisible wall somewhere (either that or a thin rope that acts like a wall) especially on tracks like the one shown in the trailer. The question I made is how far does that wall have to be from the proper track area for people to be happy.

Well i would say, just past the tree line like in colin mcrae games. Or if theres no trees then about 10ft past the track edge seems about right. But obviously going off the track should be penalised in some way, like a bumpy terrain that reduces speed and makes it harder to steer. And obviously trees will do what they do best - stop cars!

Nascar - doesn't really appeal to me.

To me I think it would be as boring as going out for a drive but then only going around in circles.

Oh my god it's exactly the same - trust the Americans eh?

God bless America, and "yes we can" and all that.

Great.

Perhaps you could lay off insulting other nations in your next set of posts? :)

I'm an American and I found this funny *cough* true *cough*

But I'm guessing some here won't.

Nascar could be very fun. Imagine driving 10-15 laps on N tyres, 12-20 cars on the track, with visible damage on (maybe rollover)...FUN

I only drive in cockpit view so maybe that is why I don't notice any tearing.
Sure there's some slowdown but that only occurs when there are like 5 cars up right in front of you, but even then it's around 45fps which is not jarring like the same case in GT4 on Laguna Seca

What I'm trying to say is that the minimal drop in framerate that occurs does not distract from the experience for me
i have prolouge and it tears and have some drop downs so what are you talking about....? usually on suzuka in the hairpin

You're probably using a 50hz TV. Prologue converts from 60hz to 50hz very poorly, causing lots of tears and low frame rates.

On a 60hz TV the frame rate is pretty much perfect.

I love how there are people here saying they have played GT5.

well i dont think gt5 would be much different from the prolouge ...
so i think many people have kind of tried gt5 .
but gt5 would be in a much bigger scale.. and modes

Hmm that's strange... I've never had any problems like that on a 60hz TV.

PS: Wait, no, I tell a lie... When I first bought my PS3 it was very laggy, and the frames on all the games including GT5p were bad, in the end I had to do a full system reset of my PS3 to get the framerates up to what they should have been. Have you tried doing this?

i am not saying that gt5p is unplayable.
but i have some hickups time to time regarding the frame drops and tearing..

it isent long ago i changed my hdd. to a 500gig.
so i am sure i had a reset of the system . il try again..
is it back to factory default you mean ?

Well when I did It I restored everything completely back to the factory sattings as I had very little game save data to worry about, but their is an option to reset everything except for your important data (Eg game saves and stuff). You could try that instead, but if you would rather try the full reset then it's best to save all your data onto an external hard drive first.

And when I did it it wasn't completely unplayable either, just a bit annoying.
