yes, livery editor i would like only to add in racing tuning, not in normal cars..
but i thought that PD have already thought about this...

It was being contemplated, this was a few years back.

Let's face the facts here. This game isn't going to be as good as it could without a Livery editor to make race liveries.

I mean you've got animated racing pit crews, 16 car fields, and yet they all look like showroom cars!

Stop crying about people wanting a livery editor in the game. Yes, cars come stock factory colors, but don't you think if real life you could paint that SOB any color you wanted?

I can face that fact. It's an easy fact for me to face because it's looking like the game is shaping up to be incredible anyway. Even though it's one of my most wanted features, at this point it would only add another 5 or 10% to the epicness. :D

Personally- I would keep my cars nice and simple- like someone stated, it could look like nothing, but be a sleeper car.

My idea, take a BMW M3- just black all around. Touch the accelerator, vroooom. 756 bhp. The other guys on the track start to leave one-by-one. I think its a pretty funny image. Then it comes down to the Bugatti and me. Ahhhhh, thats my online dream race right there.

But then, there would be other cars where I would buy standard, like the F430, and make it look like the race cars used in the real life events. Thats the only reason why I would want it in GT5- to make it look like its real-life counterpart.

Yes true that, when i think about it, it does actually seem quite unrealistic having a full on race day with stock cars a livery editor is just the thing GT needs to stop it from getting too sterile and spruce thing up! Just A few shapes, patterns, sponsors etc would be fine plus a colour wheel or something so designs dont get too crazy and hamper the realism!

Fine 👍

Simpsons doesn't look too muc less realistic than this

 personally i don't mind if some guy draws an anime girl on the bonnet of his Nissan, mainly because in forza you would look at a anime livery and think wow... hot but now after seeing that pic and the bmw someone posted earlier it actually does seem kinda tacky in reality:yuck:

That is about the only reasonable thing you said. An option to not see other peoples custom paint jobs is a very reasonable thing to ask for.
Please tell me Forza 2 had this feature. My goodness, online must have been a nightmare if not.

Yes, you can choose not to download other peoples schemes if you so choose. However, this question tells me you've haven't spent much (if any) time playing Forza 2 online at all. Which probably means you haven't seen races like this or this. Or seen gt3 or manufacturer races recreated with full liveries. So, you don't even know what you're missing! Your fear of tacky designs probably says more about the community you play with than it does about the desirability of the feature. Once you get private rooms and the ability to choose who you race with, the possibilities are endless!

Livery editor 👍
Spice up online a bit, kinda dull when you see the same exact 4 cars with the same exact paint color, there is no individuality or personality there.

Personally that hasn't happened to me once...apart from the F2007 races of course.

Heck, when there was the Citroen GT race online, I was getting 12-15 car fields in ALL different colours. Of course the fact that the citroen came in a million colours and they all looked good probably helped, but you get my point.

There's always gonna be a way to tell cars apart, be it the blue corvette, white S2000, Red Citroen, etc, so that argument is generally invalid.

As a long time GTR/RFactor enthusiast, however, I know how well a livery editor can work, and I would love to see MY garage racing in MY colours. And hopefully it'll be hi-res liveries we can make, because that + photo mode has a LOT of potential.

At best you will get team-spec decals that are realistic, and pre-defined for each car that has them. You will not get your Forza-style editor, so if you want that, you know what to do.

How are you going to tell me what I've personally seen is invalid? I was getting at it gets dull in online races seeing numerous identical plain red Ferrari's or 4 of the same exact yellow Ford GT's with black stripes. There is no feeling of individuality there. My point is livery would just add diversity to the plain painted cars, it would make you feel like your car is truly yours. It would add personality to them and give you a special bond to that car knowing nobody else has the same exact one.

Personally: from my experience
Generally: most of the time.

And do you think the same bunch of people who all drive the same car in the same colour with the same stripes are going to use the livery editor?

Judging by the results of the poll, yes I do.
I just don't see any negatives to a livery editor except for it taking away development time for other areas of the game. The more options the better.

i Just voted for the third Option, but was a mistake, thought it was the Roll Over thread.

About Livery Editor, its simple as this, it can make your car look like a race car, even if it doesnt has even a tiny wing/splitter.

Ive had really good times on MC:LA Livery editor, and it was kinda crappy, so if we get a Livery editor as Good as the one in Forza, every game will be like the pet of the dog of the 5 year old Daughter of Kazunori Yamauchi  and now that we have extensive body modifications, its just the only hting missing in car customization.

The red R35 GTR in many TGS demo videos had a Vinyl on its right ride.

Whether it is unique to that car, we don't know. But PD wanted us to pick up on it, otherwise it would've just been a standard GTR. So i think it is quite likely there will be a Livery Editor in GT5, although probably not to the same standard as the one in Forza, or even NFS. PD probably wants to keep it simple.

I think there may be some body customisation in GT5 too, the red GTR in the same vids had a Carbon Fibre spoiler. It could just be the spoiler upgrade like in GT4, or this could mean full on body kits and race customisation adding racing splitters and so on. That would be awesome.

Body customization has been confirmed by the big man himself (KY) on a few interviews.

It's looking excessively favorable in the poll, which is probably helped out that those who want to create online teams and racing leagues - many of us - realize how essential some kind of livery creator is.

Take the example of the Porsche GT car on the previous page. What would it take to create that?
  • Body painting with hundreds of colors in every part of the spectrum, including browns, metallics and chameleon effects with transparency.
  • Perhaps 100 -500 layers a side to load in graphics elements, number plates, text and decals.
  • A wide range of vinyl shapes to apply different patterns to sections of the body, with transparency effects.
  • The option to make decals single color.
  • Many different text fonts and national flags.
  • The ability to add graphics such as text, flags and graphic banners to windows.
  • The ability to paint individual sections such as mirror housings, aero parts and wheels.
Voila, you have a race car.

A lot of people seem to be bothered by other people having riced up cars or distasteful designs - I say let 'em. If for some reason I can't stand (as in literally can't stand) a certain design, I'll block that person out.

But I know the majority of drivers in GT will make realistic and artful liveries.

Some people are unaware that blocking custom liveries is an option in Forza, to keep uglies out or to save on downloading time, because they have to be shared with everyone. But in my career racing online in Forza, I haven't seen anything distasteful, and I didn't belong to a club.

A livery editor would be a cool feature however it depends on what kind of liveries are able to be added onto the car. Stuff like dragons and tribal patterns etc are abit too much for me and i don't think it fits in with a simulator type game. Im sure you can make a car personal but without all the typical stuff which goes onto cars such as them tribal patterns and stuff.

I would love it, if it is in the game.

For my moneymoakers I will have orange paint all over them, with a lion included :sly:

For Lotus cars I would like to add the JPS livery and for the older racecars also some nostalgic touches.
