Sony Gamescom press - GT6 appearance

The brief shots of Apricot did look really good, almost like a new track in the sense that it looked like it had been updated to appear more like a real world track, hence me thinking on first glance it was a real track. Day/night is also excellent news of course.

Haha. I had the same thought of it being a real world track as well. :) It was impressive I'll give PD that.

Have we had tyres with actual real world brands visible on them in game before?

I believe the Nurburgring 24 GTR's have them?

Lets just hope those AI are updated. GT5 made them look competitive in their advert videos. Let's hope those crowds of cars actually race each other and the player.

Although, when I look at that pack of cars, they're all random classes thrown together...

@Samus - Agreed, lets just hope there wasn't a track layout change like the one that slaughtered our Rome circuit!

That home stretch looks familiar though :D!

I'm hoping that shot of the cars was just for promotional purposes.

As for Apricot there is an overhead shot of it midway through where it changes from day to night and the layout appears mostly the same. You can't see it all though of course.

Yep. I believe the Ford Mark IV had 'Good Year' on it and some of the Japan race cars had things like 'Potenza.'

I'm really hyped about the Concept cars returning. Mainly the Nike Two. The Nike One is basically burnt into my memory from GT4, I can't wait to see the crazy stuff coming back.

Me too, I tought that it was Abu Dhabi or Dubai

People saying bad stuff about concept cars should think a little:

From where the ideas, the passion come from? First, the cars are always an idea, a concept... it's where the dreams are born.

I'm very happy with concept cars being so special in GT6. It's part of the Gran Turismo tradition and it's interesting for a car lover. Specially for those that really like car design.

I'm really happy that GT brings the whole car lover experience. But I can understand those that only care about racing... I just think a pure racing focus make a game get boring fast. Just like those beloved PC sims... For me, gets boring quick.

Yes but I want to drive cars that I know, that I might have some connection to. It's nothing to do with only caring about racing. I don't mind the odd concept that is real but the guy said only a few would be made in real life. So where is the connection to a car that doesn't exist in real life? There is a reason most people prefer games with real cars in them and not fantasy cars.

Plus there is the point this is supposed to be a driving simulator. You can't simulate something that doesn't exist in the real world.

I personally have no problem with the new concept car partnerships.

Heck any addition to the car list is good game as long as it's there to drive. You can't imagine how many wacky and insane concept cars I've wanted to drive in my lifetime.

Oh dang if they put in Bathurst (Mount Panorama) AND the Abu Dhabi F1 track I would go pre-order GT6. Those are my top 2 favorite tracks. I am sure Bathurst is in GT6 since it was part of the dlc for GT5.

Cars are developed in simulators these days and they get pretty precise results. Even if they don't go on production. I think it's part of the process.

YOU will have 1000 real cars to drive.

Leave 100 concepts to US that love concepts since the first GT game.

Concepts are reality of the automotive industry.

Having this amount of concepts and such variety is the best showcase of strength, influence and importance that GT series have in the automotive industry.

Every new concept in GT series is highly welcomed from the 1997.

Also, you may not heard the announcement, where GT engine is used from the manufacturers to visualize and test the named concepts. They are simulated with the GT engine. What more approval can one *game* get?

Yes, Goodyear Eagle is in GT5. Only for some cars and in combination with some rims though.

As for the concept discussion that's going on, I've been exposed to an unhealthy amount of Auto & Design magazines throughout the years so I'm a concept design addict. Thank you PD for feeding my addiction :D

I'm just giving my opinion, a concept car that doesn't exist outside of Gran Turismo is basically a fictional car, which I'm not interested in and I would rather PD didn't spend time on.

Fair point. Diversity is good, especially in opinions.

I mean, they said they updated the standards. Just how how much better they will look...
I think the only thing upgraded is the polygon count? Maybe?

I dunno.

I don't mind the Standards as they are, anyway, won't matter to me. Still, any visual upgrade is welcome by me.
