I think its a great idea, and if its a a free update, I definitely welcome it. I'm a cheap as gamer, and anything that will let me enjoy GT5 more is just awesome.

Back on playstation 1 I had a game called NFS porshe unleashed... it had a free roaming mode where you could drive any of your unlocked cars around the city map. And if you broke too many rules, then it turned the game in to cops and robbers or something during that time.. you were even fined. Maybe I'm getting confused with another game but as I remember it, I had a lot of fun with it.

Driving GT5 cars around city streets, or maybe an open road/world like some of the dirt rally tracks would be a very enjoyable car/game experience.

The day C-Spec will come out will be the day GT5 dies for good.

Oh, nevermind, it will die as soon as Shift 2 comes out.

Seriously, WTF is going on ? Driving in traffic, obeying speed limit, going out of your car and walk ? Has Kaz lost his mind ? I really think he's just a rich guy putting his dreams into a game and that's called Gran Turismo.
👍 +1

There was no cops and no free roam in Porsche Unleashed. You could free roam in NFS Most Wanted.

I wouldn't believe a thing of it, cos how long will it take for PD to create an open environment big enough for free roaming? Like at least half the size of Ibiza in TDU2? Judging by their development speed it will take 4 years and the map will take 5 minutes to load.

There was. He is talking about the PS1 version.

Don´t know, how you think it would be possible to create a free roam-mode and a complete city with complex graphics like the GT5-one.

Have a look at GTA 4 and how it looks. It looks good, but not even near as realistic as GT5 and it reaches its limits easily on console and nearly on PC.

So how do you think, they can inlude an open world into GT5, when the engine reaches nearly the limit on clodes tracks?

It is time for Kaz to step back a bit from his creation and let his team do more of the work. If his team is too small, then 6 million copies sold should have made a little cash to hire a few more.

What i mean is, the focus of the development group is far to narrow. there should be groups dedicated to altering standard models into premiums. There should be a group that is focused on making the tracks we lost from previous GT's into GT5. There should be a team making more A and B spec events.

Maybe there already is, but there is no official word on any plans for any of those things. Just a bunch of rumors and mystery as to "What Kaz has up his sleeve". Well, IMO, I dont care what fancy crap Kaz is working on next, I want some more premium cars, and more cars overall, and more tracks to race on. If they are working on these things, they should let us know so there isnt like 50 new threads every day about "I wish...."

i would like this..
but before thisss... we should have a livery editor so we could SHOW our virtual cars in those virtual streets..
other than that there is no point in it

Much rather have a livery editor, and more premiums. If they cut out the variations and hired more staff we could have 1000 premiums in GT6, and maybe a coneless TGTT with the only boundaries being the tree line.

I had thought SSR7 was supposed to be the Open World enviornment because it just seems a little random and thrown in and if anything else it looks unfinished. The texturing is possibly the worst in the game. And if you use the glitch to escape the boundaries of the track, it appears there was supposed to be more roads and stuff - Perhaps leading towards areas to park and walk around... perhaps a city area, a village area, and some kind of park reserve area. Also there are no A-Spec races that involve SSR7.

A huge highway like Wangan would be the perfect place to cruise - big huge highway straights and then if they wanted to elaborate a little more they could include a few side areas that incoprate more hills with hairpin turns and jagged roads or perhaps far reaching roads that lead through forests and into a village area.

SS7, SS5, Clubman Stage Route 5, SS11 (GT2 and GT3) share the same roads

More than same roads, the same environment. There aren't actual shared sections between those tracks. However they clearly are all in the same fictional city ("GT Metropolis"?) and clearly inspired by existing Tokyo Expressway roads.

What's interesting, by the way, is that in the GT5 Special Stage Route 5 (or Clubman version), there's a closed passage in the tunnel after the main straight that supposedly leads to "Route 7".

Just want to clarify something.
Some of the assets in the "The Getaway" tech demo from back then, were used for GT5.

By the way, I would love that C-Spec mode, seriously.
If they make it, I hope they will also add some German roads and a Autobahn.

by 1000 premiums do you mean 40 skylines 20-30 RX7 es & & & & & ...
if so they better dont waste time & just do the standard thing [ even thou they did waste time with this one too ]...

but i agree with a livery editor.. that thing is a must,,,
now think how cool would it be if you have livery editor you pimp your car & go to C-spec & just drive .. show your car talk to people ...

Has anybody else had what looks like a city (all buildings in White, non rendered) on the start up screen in gt5, with cars driving through it?

I think TDU, without the cheesyness, but with gt5 physics, better graphics and a huge car selection would be pretty damn nice. Always wondered why they never seemed to do a MS driving simulator (like the flight, boat and train ones). Not sure about the social aspect of it all, the driving would have to remain the priority.

You could keep all of the tracks and so on, but have the option of driving on open roads with traffic.

I think this would need a stupid amount of computing power though...

....and most of us will hate it because nobody needs to see childish painted "the Fast & the Furious"-cars like you can often see in TDU 2.

this feature while it sounds nice might actually kill several PS3s with the load on the processor.. i cant imagine the PS3 would take very kindly to this high detail free roam as it is already stretched to its limit with the existing content

Yeah, didn't they say that GT5 alone was using up like 85% of the PS3's memory or sumhting.
