There's so many Standards I'd love to re-drive with the new physics. I'm hoping for a more refined cockpit view. I imagine the adaptive tessalation would greatly improve the exteriors and decrease the modeling time. That would allow them to use all the GT5 cars.

Imagine if the interiors were something like the Prowler's interior. Although that might take long but who knows. :P

I doubt that PD has been modeling simple interiors for standard cars. That time is spent better adding just a single premium car.

You guys hoping the standard cars will be improved in any way can stop right now. Remember that these models are ported straight from the PS2. It's not as if they can just "Do a little this and do a little that." to them and it'll be fine. The need to be remade from scratch in order to be any good. Everything else is nothing but a waste of time.

Of course not. I could almost say for certain that they will still have the raw resources from GT4, and whilst you are correct in saying that the same resources are brought straight through from that game, of course they have the capability to smooth lines, upscale polygons count etc.

True. :\

Excatly.

Incorrect!

Lets take all the crazy amount of MX-5 NA models, S2000 models, GTR32/33/34 models, 350z models, and other standrad cars that have their premium "brother" in the game.

The standard models of those models are already having one car in premium. Therefor to eliminate all the standard models of the ones I named above only a slightly modifications are needed to give them the premium status, because the most models only have diffrent specs in suspension/engine or simply badges! For the rest most of them are 90% identical.

Only by doing this will eliminate about 100 standard models.

Thats all.

I agree, but some of us would rather not have them in the game at all and keep the experience more consistent.

Never going to happen. No way is PD going to scale back the number of cars.

It's stupid to keep slightly different sub/year models of a premium car as standard just so it can show up in the used car lot though. The used car lot shouldn't just be for standards, and all duplicates of a premium should also be updated to premium... really, how much time can it take. That 400R for example, it has different wheels (GT6 needs way more wheel choices anyway), a slightly different body kit, and a few simple decals. It shouldn't still be standard only!

Woulda, shoulda, coulda. You're still talking hundreds of cars and it still takes a lot of time to do this, and that means something else won't get done. Resources are limited and I really think the standard/premium issue is way down the list of priorities. Most people just don't care, as long as there are plenty of premiums to play with.

This, standards do nothing but tarnish a game of GT's stature. it's ridiculous we are getting ps2 era cars with black silhoulette's for a cockpit.

If your going to add something in the game do it right or not it all. Quality > Quantity.

Seems PD wants to keep importing ps2 cars so they can slap 1200 cars on the box.

?? most don't care? it's the single most requested, and talked about issue with Gt5.

Exactly right. Because the 9.75/10 million people that purchased this game as a casual player or for their kid, or their Dad or their Uncle, see's "1200" on the cover and thinks that's the greatest thing ever.

Among the hardcore gamers yes. The vast majority of players are just casual...and...see above.

Where did you get the information that GT6 will continue to have black silhouette interiors?

You know this how? I bet anyone who played gt5 doesn't like the inconsistent quality and horrid cockpit view, and limited customization of standards. Bad quality is bad quality.

Don't see why some people would have to care about the standard cars if hundreds of other people would care and will use them. I'm one of those people just so you know... I'm not losing my Clio phase 2.

So are you saying your standard cars are better than my standard cars?

No, he's saying if no one made a fuss about standard cars, nothing would change. People disagree with them, so they speak out against them to encourage change from the developer.

It's not hard to estimate how many people are hardcore vs. casual gamers. Look at DLC sales figures, participation levels in Time Trials etc. In any off the shelf console game, the vast majority of buyers are casual buyers. I don't like standards, I wish they would go away, but as a business owner I can see why they both don't get upgraded, and why they remain in the game. Hardcore gamers aren't avoiding buying the game because they are in the game, and casual buyers are impressed by the high number of cars which means more sales. 800 standards and 1000+ cars = 10,000,000 units sold. Hard to argue with that. It's a no lose/win scenario for GT.

Ok, but why waste time doing so? There would still be two groups of cars with different levels of quality.

I didn't say how many hardcore compared to casuals there are, you pretend to know casual don't care there is a great consistency issue with premiums and standards. They are not blind and stupid. I bet they do.

Exactly, some people don't care but, some, like me have higher standards, especially for a Gt game which in the past used to stand for quality.

Yeah clearly the irony is lost on you...

Are you honestly saying that it's not a legitamate issue?
It's only an issue if you choose it to be.

If there'll an option to disable their use in the menu sure, bring it on but I don't want to be "forced" into using them for certain events or having half the ai cars as them even when there are premiums readily available.

Well I never brought up being forced to use them, but I know what you mean and I agree.

EDIT: However I believe since others aren't so bothered by it, than I guess it isn't to much of an issue...

Too late the times been wasted already. PD has said all the cars are returning. Jordan has said it's MOSTLY good news about the standard cars. Apparently there's been improvements-how nice.

Still waiting to see where it's been stated from an official source that there will be only black silhouette interiors.

No one wants inferior car modeling and PD wants a high car count so we'll likely continue to have 2 levels of quality.
