Standard cars ARE in GT6. (100% confirmed)

You could ALWAYS do what you did in GT5 and NOT use the standard cars.

No, you couldn't. For better of for worse, they were an integral part of the game and if you wanted to progress you had to use them. It should also be mentioned that some of the most popular and fun online races (meaning shuffle ) would most likely give you a standard.

I don't think that we're going to get GT5 quality standards. I think he was trying to say all the standard cars have been updated including the bad quality ones. I think people are just upset 'cause the "scary standard cars" have appeared again. You could ALWAYS do what you did in GT5 and NOT use the standard cars.

If he meant all, would he not say so?

Yeah, you could, if you never wanted to finish a good chunk of races in an already-short GT Mode, since some races required Standards.

Kaz said they almost all will be available for photomode so high res textures are done. No interior view is a bad thing though I hope it is added for most cars.

He actually said ALL will be available for photomode and have parts fitted:

That will all be cleared so every model can be used in Photo Mode, and every car can have parts fitted for it.

So...all the standard cars will be available for photo mode and have parts added, doesn't that count for anything? This would apply that they're maybe GT5 premium quality, at least.

Apparently they were not embarassed by horrible car models on the track, why would horrible car models on photomode make any difference to them? Parts fitting and photomode doesn't really imply anything other than parts fitting and photomode.

Why in god's name would you image premium quality for all standards? I can't make any sense of it.

Possibly on the outside yes. Otherwise it could imply that in GT5, PD were a bit embarrassed by the quality of Standards, or didn't want their game represented badly by people posting up close pictures of awful quality cars, whereas now everyone knows anyway, they are happy to let people loose and take pictures of pixels all they want.

Or anywhere in between! :D

Yeah, I'm pretty happy about those parts too.

As the top end cars (the former premiums) all look even better now in GT6, perhaps you are right about the visuals of the former standards looking closer to the GT5 premium.

It's my guess that the Countach and Alpine were exaomples of that, though of course I could be very wrong - they might just be fully upgraded cars.

Still, with no differentiation other than interior view, I think that the problem will fade away for the most.

I'm really loving the photo travel option - so many potentially good pics missed out on can now be realised :)

Like I said, I'm gonna wait to make a judgement call until I actually SEE the standard cars. Seems like this thread is turning to a "People who hate GT" thread.

They were "embarrassed" enough to not allow them in photo travel and they were "embarrassed" enough to not allow you to zoom in on them.Way to make it seem like PD has no standards 👍 ( like the wordplay? ).The fact that you can do presumably both now couldve made him come to that conclusion.

I would say more likely those were examples of full upgrades to GT6 "premium" quality. Its unlikely they would demo them in their reveal trailer, if they were only "up to scratch" in terms of visual quality. My guess is they are suggesting that they have transformed a number of standards to full premiums, and the rest maybe have just been upgraded to some extent (but still not like premiums).

I wonder if the NO about standard car interior views means no black silhouette or just not a basic modeled interior. At least with the silhouette you could drive from a crude cockpit viewpoint. Taking photos and pretty replays are nice but I want to have that viewpoint when I drive even if it looks like black duct tape.

As analog says, "refactoring" specifically refers to programming code, adapting itself to user needs, input or whatever. I'm very curious what this will mean for GT6, and games on PS4 because this is where the real advances are going to appear.

What really counts in respect to the Standards in GT6 is the "tesselation" thing, where extra polygons are supplied by the rendering engine to smooth surfaces on the fly. But I'm guessing that this should likewise be a modeling tool in development kits now. I had mentioned this way back in 2005 when early chats on GT5 began to spring up, and most people poo-pooed the idea. But clearly computers and programmers became a lot smarter and more focused since then, and now it's a reality.

So in a devkit, I assume that a modeler can highlight a section of a mesh for a car model, and have the program smooth it out with a percentage or range of polygons, which the modeler can leave as is or fix up by hand. This would speed up modeling by a hefty margin, and could potentially save the Standards from the trash bucket as they're more quickly converted into sub-Premiums or even Premiums. The same for legacy tracks in the Gran Turismo family like Red Rock Valley, Grindelwald, the many Tahiti Road courses and Pike's Peak! I'm really hoping to see these tracks in GT6 at some point, if I have to pay for them.
Ok. 👍
And maybe (now we know for sure they are in) the programming "code" part has some to do with making them look more like Premium??
Whichever way the coin rolls, I'll be pleased to continue my GT collection. :)
Pleasing to read that aside from making the "bad quality Standard models we’ve updated so they look better", we will be able to add body tuning parts too.
There were loads of cars which could've benefited from these, I'm sure some will agree.

Bingo! Just as you said I rather have all the cars premium, but it's just not possible. Still I had a lot of fun driving the Standards in GT5. What I want is the ability to do more modification to them vs GT5, and the ability for them to be included in photomode if this is how GT6 is I will be happy. The more cars to drive the better in my respectful opinion.

Ok. 👍

Dude I am so pumped right now, this is all I wanted I will never stop playing GT6. For the people who are mad I can understand but at the same time it reminds me of the people who say a livery should not be added to GT series, it just baffles me.
The blacked out cockpit in standard cars need to have the hood/bonnet visible. Don't half ass half assed stuff.

Oh Baby I was extremely pleased with Jordan interview. All standards will get customization and photomode locations just as the premiums!!! :embarrassed:

The interview was the best ever, and very excited about the standard cars of not only being updated, but are customizable and brought to photomode locations like the premiums cars. Super happy. :)

Toko no lie I'm like a schoolgirl over here. I mean I had a lot of fun with the standard cars in GT5, but it was a lot to desire. Now that we can customize and bring them to Photo location I cannot see me giving GT6 a rest, I mean 1200 cars bro!!! Can't wait!

Seems like pretty much the whole site is going that way...sad to say.

The patience of some people is non-existent.

I know right? That's gonna be crazy and epic! Can you imagine the JDM rooms? :D I also noticed Kaz and PD also fulfilled your wish as well, just like how they fulfilled my dreams of getting realistic physics, updated course maker. I'm just as happy as you are! 👍

Cheers.

I really hope some cars that got extra attention were the Lemans, DTM, and Rally ones.

For the love of god please make most of the muscle cars premium too lol.

So excited right now regardless though. Cant wait to feed my GT addiction again this holiday!

The hate is everywhere, unfortunately. Of course, I'm no idiot and it's a no brainer that all cars being premium quality would be fantastic. But it's not what we'll have...The standards will be on GT6. Deal with it. Complaining won't make 1000 cars suddenly becoming premium neither will remove them.

And I'm thankful that they give some love to them...

Standard or not, I'll enjoy every single one of them. Hooray! :) I just can immagine throwing some of them on the corners with GT6 delicious new physics... Lovelly Toyota Carina, DAT BODYROLL! :D

And I believe that for enabling them for Photomode implies on a treatment on ALL of them to at least hide the bad textures and squared wheelarches.

Like I said before, an idea: if they use adaptative tesselation to dynamically modify the quality of the cars, why not use this tech to actually smooth standards surfaces?

It's a complicated thing to make work but... who knows?

Anyway... for the good and for the worse:

Standards on GT6 - Deal with it.

It's not hate, it's love! If anything, people have been very patient with PD lately. I think most of us simply hope that GT6 will offer a more consistent experience than GT5 did. That game manages to be both amazing and terrible, but the new details emerging since Wednesday simply suggest that GT6 will continue and expand upon this trend.

I assume PD is stuck in their bewildered nature of being a game developer and a self-appointed ambassador for everything automotive.

Deal with it? I'll deal with it by not wasting my time with it. How's that?

That's okay with me if you do that. What I don't understand is some people are forcing others to play the game as I see it. No offense to those, but if someone's not going to play a game, leave them alone.

I wouldn't expect anything different from you based on your attitudes on many other posts... but you're free to do what you want, of course.

All the best,

:)

The thing is, some people will not play the game but they do what they can to simply destroy the experience of those that actually are happy about it.

Constructive criticism is completely different to just pure hate.

+1. Despite the dodgy graphics in GT5, I loved the standards then and I'll love 'em more now.

Some want to leave this franchise now as it is expected to come with the best physics ever...only because the standards aren´t left out as they wanted it to be...Doesn´t make sense IMO. Have you seen one of the standards as they will look in GT 6 yet?

Look at me, I´m a die-hard fanboy of a certain car brand, many people here will know my thread, and I´m still waiting for a proper representation by adding models of said brand in Gran Turismo... If GT6 still hasn´t any, except for the ones it had already since GT4 (or they would be missing completly if PD took them out for GT6), I would have all the right to say I won´t buy it.

But although I would be dissapointed, I would still buy it because GT6 will have more to offer than my personal favorite Manufacturer, and it has more to offer than your personal dislike on some lesser quality cars in the game.
