Sounds to me like the cars will all be there and will not be standards but also will not be premiums. Instead they will be able to accept parts like the other cars, upgraded exterior appearance and no interior upgrades so basically several of the cars will be Standard ++ and some may be Premium or Premium --

Personally I like what I hear so far and will without a doubt be pre-ordering it.

I would like to know a few more things and I really hope they include a full leader board but I will be buying it in any case.

Many who want standards out are fine with just 400-500 premiums. The only problem with that is GT6 WILL have 400-500 premiums, yet they're still mad about the added 800ish standards? Heck, some would say to the extreme that they would trade 800 standards for 8 premiums. Sorry, I don't see the logic in that. You still get your 400-500 premiums, so just enjoy them.

Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying the physics on all 1200 plus cars AND customizing them. You can say I've a very happy camper. So happy, very, very happy.. :D.

The hate towards the standard cars is to funny. I'm actually amused by it now. I know for sure I'll be enjoying the improved standard cars, so please, so me your anger standard dislikers.:lol::lol:

Great news. They are no longer called standards if they can be treated and look like premium cars, I even bet the cockpit will no longer be plain black, they may improve it a bit

Tokyo Xtreme Racer?

I'm not sure where people got the idea they'll look like Premiums. They won't; otherwise, they'd be Premiums...

Will all of the cars have interior views?

No.

Not quite.

Doubtful about the cockpit view but who knows, but it would be great if the interior view wasn't a black out tub flying around and actually had the shell of the car outside it too. They won't look exactly like premium cars but they will be able to use all the mods unlike the standards in GT5 which had a set amount of mods available. I am stoked by this news as I was gutted that my S7 couldn't use a wing(just like in GT4) but now hopefully it can get front and rear aero combined with better aerodynamics and physics, are you mad how could you not want to play the game with these cars? 800 extra cars that can still utilize the same aero mods and tuning parts and people want to complain, I laugh as I have plenty of cars to tune all over again. I hope that GT7 comes out with 1200+ cars in it, I hate to say goodbye to cars in GT games. Been gutted a few times by this GT2 to 3 was a massive stab in the heart so many incredible autos never seen in a GT game ever after that garage left. GT4 to GT5 lost some quirky cars but also a mother load of awesome courses. No take away PD, just keep adding.
Hooray for standard cars making their way back for GT6!

I decided to go on a Premium run lately, after spending months just racing my Standards. But I just went back and added a few Standards into my Favorites list so I could "event" race them in Arcade Mode, such as the Celica GT-Four RC '91, Aston Martin Vanquish '04, Lamborghini Diablo NOMAD GT1, Amuse S2000 R1, TVR T350C and Lotus Esprit - yes, there's a Premium one, I'm weird. I gave a good many of them the "race mod" treatment as best I could. And... darn, they look freaking good for last gen models! I should snap some Photo Mode pics sometime, maybe this weekend if I have the time.

I should steer you guys over to the Photo Mode board because in this thread, there are some incredible Standard car pics, many of them not Photoshopped. In GT6, we might not be able to easily distinguish them from Premiums. And if we can Race Mod many of them... woah nellie! I'm gonna make me some race cars! :D

I had to quote almost the entire thing. Seriously. 👍

lol I spend a good 5 sec. in search for the "like button" until I realized there wasn´t one (damn you facebook!).💡

back on topic: Well said, Tenacious... +1 👍 👍

Yeah, there won´t be premiums or standards in GT6 dude! Just cars, some with better and some with less quality.

You're not alone missing the logic. In essence, the logic is that standard cars drag the overall visual quality of the game down, whether one uses them or not. It helps that they are being improved but 8 premiums would help more than a bunch of polished textures from the beginning of the 21st century do. In other words, they simply need to disappear or go premium if PD wants to create a consistent gaming experience. Meanwhile, their strategy seems to be assuming that high numbers in content translates to high numbers in sales. It worked with GT5 but I think the average consumer has become a litle bit more cautious.

Isn't it interesting how GT3 is the best selling game in the series despite the fact the number of cars was much reduced compared to GT2? Maybe because it was great game with few shortcomings.

Just like the last game, then.

Cars that are up to the standards of the current generation, and a vast majority that aren't. I'd still prefer quality over quantity, but I can understand how the opposite is the preferred path for some.

And I understand the opposite view aswell, if Yamauchi had just stated that all the PS2 gen cars will no longer be in use it would´ve been alright with me. I would still have GT5 to enjoy my favorite standard cars, no.

But, let´s see what the cars that got less a polish treat will look like, if even the ugliest of the ugliest, as the Suzuki Alto Works SR-Z for example, will be much better than it is now, I consider it a great move by PD.

I totally disagree. There are at least 200 of those GT5 standard cars that I would be very very sad to see disappear. Even if the quality was unchanged from GT5 I would still want them in there. Granted there are several that I don't care much about but I'm sure there are others who like some of the ones I am neutral on or even don't like. The Veyron for example. I do not care for it at all but there are many who think it is the greatest thing ever. They want it to be premium of course but if it can't be premium I doubt they would want it to just go away. The same can be said for at least 1/2 of the standard cars I would think.

8 new premiums instead of 800 standards? Really? Even if they were my 8 favorite standards I would still be very unhappy and so would millions of others.

All cars can enter photo mode and have custom parts. Interesting.

Watched the whole thing anyways:tup: Great video, he looks like he's in good spirits and excited about his product, and that's good to see. They take an awful lot of crap from folks. I feel a bit better about the 'standards' after watching that. Can't wait until we see some real screenshots of them.

Seems like pretty much the whole site is going that way...sad to say.

The patience of some people is non-existent.

Who would have thought that people don't like PS2 cars that keep coming back again and again even in 2013. It's so weird, right? Maybe they should abandon the new modeling methods and just make even more standards so the back of the box can write a bigger number.

If all standard cars can enter photo mode that must mean they will look significantly better. The standards weren't allowed in photo mode in GT5 because of the low textures and polygon count when zoomed in. I'm assuming these have been updated, which is great news.

Brilliant idea, maybe they could spice it up with some cars from the PS1 days too.

That's how I see it.👍

Anyone get the impression that based on this quote:

Up until now, we used to categorize them as Standard and Premium because there were functional differences between them: some of the Standard models might not have tuning parts, or couldn’t be used in Photo Mode. That will all be cleared so every model can be used in Photo Mode, and every car can have parts fitted for it.

...PD won't be separating the standard and premium cars into separate dealerships like they did in GT5?

If true, I don't know what to think. In one way they would be trying to pull the wool over our eyes (not that most of us wouldn't notice the difference between standard and premium, but it would make the differences slightly harder to notice and young kids probably wouldn't even notice), but in other way, it might lessen the divide between the two types of cars and make the game more bearable as a whole.

Once again people only seem focused on numbers. 200 premium, 400 premium, 800 standards, it's all numbers. All I care for are the actual car models included and since we're just getting GT5 + 60 to 200 more I'm concerned that the choice and variety of cars is still going to be poor irregardless of the model quality. Especially when we already know one of the "New" cars is a third version of Kaz's own racecar (Yes it's GT3 spec now but it's still an easy copy and another GTR) and another is seemingly a dupe of the standard Alpine with a different year.

Of course we haven't seen all of the cars new to GT6 but it doesn't seem that promising so far.

I really hope to God they don't do what they did in GT5 and stuff every single standard car into the UCD. But judging by Kaz's comments, it looks like this won't happen again. I see no reason why some standards can't be put inside the same dealership as premiums.

So would you rather they just remove all standards? Thats kinda selfish wouldnt you say?
I can see not wanting standards if they hamper production of premium cars or other features, but we dont know if thats the case or not.I hate to beat a dead horse but if you dont enjoy the standards dont use them. I imagine GT5 shipping with 200 cars, gt6 shipping with a little over 400 ( neither of which are bad imo),people wouldnt mind having cars from previous gt's even with lower detail, just to experience those cars on this engine and with these physics.Im sure that was the thought behind PD implementing Standards. Not to buff up the number of cars, as GT is a big enough series that doesnt need a gimmick.

Pretty sure the point he's making is that he'd rather PD dedicate their resources towards making a couple more premium models than going out of their way to put hundreds of standard models in GT5/GT6.
