Standard cars ARE in GT6. (100% confirmed)

they really should loose the dublicated cars. One standard and same car premiun. There is no reason for this. Loose 30 skylines and mx7. would be too diffucult.

Definitely, I'd hate to see standard versions of identical premium cars.

I have no problem whatsoever with people who enjoy/don't mind the standards, that's up to them. What I do have a problem with is the people who refuse to acknowledge that it is a legitimate issue that other people do have a problem with. As I say if you like them then good for you but PS2 cars in a PS3 game is a legitimate issue that people are perfectly reasonable in taking issue with. Simple as that. It does NOT make them "haters" or any other derogatory term.

I agree with this 110%. I rarely post on this site because I know I'll be attacked due to my complete hatred regarding standard cars.

I read through the thread there are folks actually spouting that, I didn't make it up. Just go back a few pages and you'll see it yourself.

The incorrect part I was referring to was 800 UNIQUE cars. There are not 800 unique standard cars.

SavageEvil
So we have people wanting more premiums at the expense of losing 800 unique cars, sounds like irrational girlfriend logic(you know the stuff an angry woman says because she just wants things her way). Yes that's right PD's been sitting around twiddling their thumbs while GT6 coded itself and two days before the show they shoved the standard cars in there to say we have 1,200 cars .
No one is forcing you to buy or play the game, in fact no one is forcing you to come ion GTP and cry for the millionth time about things that you know for a fact will not change before this game launches, do yourself and everyone else a favor and just avoid posting. Spend so much time complaining, yet you haven't the slightest idea about what goes on over at their offices. No one compliments the fact that standard cars started out ugly and as time went on got better and more integrated with GT5, nope just a long list of complaints. Kaz knowing that they wouldn't be able to redo all 800 unique cars to premium quality settled for at least making them functionally equal to the premium cars...why is this not looked at as an achievement? I can guarantee that people can find fault with that with responses like "should have left standards out..." or "they can outsource..." to which I say I welcome all those unique cars and PD by far have the most accurate 3D modeling of cars in console development, all their premium cars are damn near photorealistic compared to their real life counterparts(something another famous game cannot boast, you can deny it all you want it's true).
I am thoroughly baffled, I just can't understand a driver wanting less cars to choose from because he'd rather have pretty cars so he can boast to his buddy about how many pretty cars there are. It seems that this is what the hate for standard really revolve around to me.
PD said that they'll add cars through DLC, so that means brand new cars and upgraded cars to premium, we'll have people complaining that the converted cars should be free or something dumb like that...save it, you don't do work for free so why the hell should they? Hopefully they give you enough premium cars that you can be satisfied with your odd fetish, as for me I welcome all cars. I'm a glass half full type of guy, it's much easier on the heart to just relax and enjoy what you have rather than moan and groan about things that your emotional outbursts won't change ever.
I'll probably get some replies to this text with defense of hate of standard cars dragging down visuals or something else as odd as that. Seriously if that's the extent of it, why even get GT6 on PS3 you can grab Project Cars on PC along with ACR on PC and they have really pretty visuals and allow for great physics and wheels. GT6 on PS3 standard cars are cast in stone, you aren't going to change that no matter how much you yelp, holler, scream, rant, rave, hold your breath, turn red or fume until your eyes turn red and snot comes out your nose, accept it and you'll definitely have a more enjoyable time in general.
Do we really need your rival system friends to co-sign on things like who has the prettiest cars? It's the weekend, it's a game and both of them you can choose to enjoy or not. I'm not saying you can't complain, but 3 years running and no one cares about the efforts done to lessen the impact of difference between the cars that is the sticking point for me, it's incredibly annoying and considering we haven't seen a single standard car decked out in visuals upgrades, why are there complaints with no proof to support your position?

So, it's irrational to ask for the bare minimum, is it? The bare minimum being all the cars modeled equally just like EVERYONE else, that's right, no one else does this kind of crap because they would be destroyed by the gaming media and the consumers but somehow Gran Turismo gets a free pass, why?

Yeah. All I got from that post is "Boo-hoo! Stop posting opinions I don't like!"

And if you actually read through the thread, you would see people had positive reactions to PD trying to close the gap between standards and premiums. Myself included.

do yourself and everyone else a favor and just avoid posting

Right back at you sir. If you can't handle other people's opinion on the matter just open the door and leave. Everyone should have a right to voice what they think (in a civil manner) even if you don't like it.

800 unique cars eh? Here's a list of the GT4 cars (I've taken the liberty to exclude the GT500 cars for now even though some aren't available as Premium just yet) that effectively and objectively need to be modelled for the whole roster of current Standard cars to be replaced, might miss a few GT-PSP cars and not be completely accurate and contain some flaws.
That's including the cars that subjectively are expected to never be remodelled at all and raceversions where a Premium RM version could take its place easily.
I've focussed on what's needed for modelling (the unique bodies) and included significant variations of the same body or raceversions which also need a separate interior modelled.
So deduct the irrelevant cars yourself and you'll see it's far less than 800 cars that need to be replaced or completely redone from scratch.

I don't get the ditch all standards viewpoint myself in light of what Kaz said about improving their appearances. It sounds like they should be vastly improved. They've been improved a lot since GT5's launch which bodes well for even further improvement. More customization will be available too.

The argument that they aren't consistent sounds like it's from a consumer review standpoint and not a car enthusiasts standpoint. If you don't use cockpit cam, what difference does it make to a driver whether some cars don't look as detailed as others?

I'm thinking Kaz said no to interiors for standards means just that. No modeled interiors-that's it. There was no mention of no cockpit cam so maybe the simple silhouette or something similar will return. I sure hope so. I don't want to go from cockpit cam to hood/bumper cam between cars.

I don't care if you like standard cars or don't like standard cars.

I understand wanting them to be made better. I want them to be made better. Kaz said they're being made better. OK?

What I object to is people who insist on taking 800 cars out of MY game because they are offended by their mere presence.

You don't like them. You don't have to drive them. (If there are events that require them, that is a separate issue.)

I am offended by the presence of front wheel drive cars. There is nothing good about them and I will never drive one. But I don't think YOUR game should be without them just so I don't have to even see one.

Oh, and I'm sure this has been pointed out already, but I'll say it again: They're in GT6. Raging about it is pointless.

The argument that they aren't consistent sounds like it's from a consumer review standpoint and not a car enthusiasts standpoint.

Technically both are valid viewpoints, and it's important as players to pay attention to the overall quality of the game, but personally I would rather have a historic or interesting car in sub-premium quality than nothing at all.

I would definitely not be satisfied with GT5 if only the Premiums were there, as most of my favorite cars are standards. I know that this applies to many other people as well. I think the only way PD can really avoid alienating a lot of their customers is to include the standards but gradually work on bringing them up to premium quality (which they seem to be doing). Some will be annoyed that the standards are there, but I imagine the number that won't buy the game because standards are there is much less than the number that wouldn't buy if standards weren't there.

The argument that they aren't consistent sounds like it's from a consumer review standpoint and not a car enthusiasts standpoint. If you don't use cockpit cam, what difference does it make to a driver whether some cars don't look as detailed as others?

First, being a car enthusiast doesn't mean that you don't think like a consumer. Second, I only use the interior view so that's an issue. Finally, the difference it makes to have premium cars and standard cars is, as you say, that they don't have the same amount of detail, and that's a pretty serious problem for a game on a HD system.

Basically we are going to get the same line up of cars of a 2005 game... (or 75 -80% of it)... I can't wait to play this "new" game... 👎

What I object to is people who insist on taking 800 cars out of MY game because they are offended by their mere presence.

As I already showed above, it's far less than 800 cars that need to be remodelled from scratch for every single Standard car to be made available as Premium (those Premium models can then be made into endless variatons/duplicates resulting into 800 cars hypothetically), I don't want the cars removed (at least not all), just the way they're modelled.

I am offended by the presence of front wheel drive cars. There is nothing good about them and I will never drive one. But I don't think YOUR game should be without them just so I don't have to even see one.

That's a ridiculous comparison, this has to do with car modelling and the same features like cockpit view being available for all cars, objectively, not the sort of cars included subjectively.

The other problem is that the presence of standards influence which cars are made into premiums.

See the truck race debacle in GT5. They had trucks available as standards, so didn't bother to model any premium trucks. At release, if you wanted to complete that race you had to either work your way through several tiers of licences or cycle the UCD until you found a truck.

I imagine they'll be upgrading the most popular standards to premium, because they'd be insane not to. If stuff like the Veyron and the Yellowbird aren't premium, it will be because PD has totally lost touch with reality. But for the sake of filling out the roster, I suspect that if a car or class of cars is already well represented in the standards it doesn't bode well for getting premium models.

And finally, one more point I'd like to raise. Standard tracks. Deep Forest and Trial Mountain are great tracks and all that, but they look SERIOUSLY dated. Are these tracks going to get a similar facelift to the standard cars? I certainly hope so.

More to the point, the only way I can see them keeping up with their stated monthly track DLC is padding it out with re-releases of GT4 and GT3 content. And if it's not polished to look pretty shiny they may find themselves with a PR disaster on their hands. Peddling ten year old content as DLC would go down pretty badly.

Again, not wanting standard cars included is just someone's opinion. PD isn't going keep them out just because some people on here don't want them. PD is going to look at what cars players are using in the game before they visit a forum to decide if standard cars should stay or go.

The bigger problem is, we will have those standards on PS4 too. Thats an absolutely no-go. I would preffer an GT with 500 good looking cars than 1200 cars and 3/4 of them look messed up. Car selection still sucks on GT. Why are there not more european cars? What we can see from the screenshots is, we will get 1 new Ferrari and 1 new Mercedes. Wow wuhuuu... And 99 new Skyline and GT-R´s...

I think this "1200 cars" is an ego problem, just like saying "I have the biggest dick". Just so they can say "look we have 1200 cars in the game"... Throw them away and start the game from scratch.

DO they have enough data from the old standard car models to use in the new physics engine ?
They will likely fill the holes with generic or interpolated data like I think they did with Standards in GT5 for the GT5 physics engine. This might be one of the reason why in general they seem to have a more bland, generic driving behavior than equivalent Premium cars. I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Actually, I wonder why none of the several GT demo builds for PS3 have had standard cars in them? If they're as awesome as some people say then PD should make a greater effort to promote them at Silverstone, E3, Gamescom, TGS, etc. No, instead they hide them in the full game, now even without categorizing them, so people can discover them on their own and drool over the PS2 textures and missing interiors.

Of course it is selfish but not much more selfish than the opposite opinion which affects the experience of those that don't want them. I would really love an option that completely hides them from the game where I don't ever see them anywhere while the rest that like them can continue using them but that ain't happening and now that they won't be labelled as standard they'll be even harder to avoid.

I dont see how wanting more cars is selfish.I dont see how racing against a standard can effect your experience so much to the point that you wish to have them all to be removed, maybe it is selfish to want them, I dont know but its nowhere near as selfish as wanting them removed because they simply subjectively dont look pretty imo.

Lower detail my friend

No, we are on ps3 and all cars should be premium by this time. I believe that every one don't mind because of the standards just has long has they can put a custom livery with some bumpers. This is a simulator not a need for speed underground, and forza is just the one to take the guilt

Yea I agree, but that wasnt my point. They couldve just left standards out and we wouldnt be having this discussion. My point was its understandable from PD view to add standards.

No matter what there are a lot of standard cars in GT5 that I like very much, some better than any of the premiums. Any improvements to these will be a good thing and leaving them in the game is a good thing.

Some of them could be removed and it would not bother me but many of them are in my favorites list and I would hate to loose them. Of those there are a couple that the detail is pretty poor and I wish it was better but it sounds like that is quite likely the case.

At any rate I think it is sad how many people have nothing better to do than come on here and whine about this. You can bet that if they were all removed then those same people would still be whinning about something, maybe that all of the standards were removed ;)

Am i the only person who likes standards?

Honestly, what's there to like other than liking that specific real life car? I love a lot of the cars that currently are Standard (I'm really pleased for example the Countach LP400 and Alpine A110 at least are Premium now so they become enjoyable) but I can't enjoy them the same way as Premium cars for the simple reason they don't feature cockpit view.

How can you like an inferior modelling method and limited features?
Not caring (if you don't use cockpit view) is something else, or being afraid a particular real life car you like won't be available at all perhaps (although that risk is always present since some cars will simply be removed for other reasons).

And I can say the same about people who berate others for not being okay with every single thing PD does.

People need to stop whining and check the facts!!! GT4 had no Ferrari's at all and GT5 had 12!!! All Premium, please name a manufacturer that got that many new premium cars.

So if you ask me its time to get some new Skyline's, because all that PD is doing is making different variations of the R35.

I really adore many car models that happen to be standard which makes it all the more disappointing and disheartening to see them in the mess they are in the game. Lacking functionality, distracting looks, generic handling, wrong data. It's like an insult to the cars themselves. Reminds me of getting into a box as a kid and pretending it's the car I wanted. I'm sorry but I can't do that any more.

In the end, what exactly does a half-assed car provide to the game? It just makes you wish it received better treatement every time you see it. I'd rather save myself from thinking that every time I'm on the grid. Maybe keep them as collectibles for an in-game museum you can visit and look at the cars. Selfish or not, I don't want them in the game, they just ruin it for me.

Isn't it interesting how GT3 is the best selling game in the series despite the fact the number of cars was much reduced compared to GT2? Maybe because it was great game with few shortcomings.

What also helped GT3 sales was the fact it was released on PS2 8 months after the console launched in North America and Europe. Sony bundled GT3 with the PS2 and it sold in amazing numbers and helped PS2 become the biggest selling console ever.

It baffles me that Sony decided against trying to replicate such success with PS4.

Watched the whole thing anyways:tup: Great video, he looks like he's in good spirits and excited about his product, and that's good to see. They take an awful lot of crap from folks. I feel a bit better about the 'standards' after watching that. Can't wait until we see some real screenshots of them.

They dont deserve alot of crap from people after GT5, a game which has serious flaws piled clear up to the sky? And they have not acknowledged or addressed two of the biggest issues with GT5, sound and AI?
