1st Circuit Championship

Welcome to the 1st Circuit Championship. We have had a good first week of racing. The 1st Circuit Championship will be at Hong Kong, a city course that is nearly double the length of any track in the 1st Circuit. The race will be held in the evening under the city lights amidst throngs of spectators lining the course. Trophies will be awarded at the winners circle after the race as well as adult beverages will be served and race girls will pose for pictures thanks to our sponsors.

So gentlemen to your cars. Start your engines! Let the 1st Circuit Championship begin!

I think shotamagee beat Dogbreath in this one.

Thanks Car-less for spotting that. Sorry guys I missed one, its fixed now.

Skython11, no this is the end of the 1st Circuit a Championship.

Can we talk about our attempts and spending (or lack thereof) in the thread, or do you want us to keep quiet and submit everything by PM?

Your purchases should be posted publicly, its a small pit area. The times by "PM". You could put the purchases in the "PM" if you wish but please do them publicly as well. Its hard to hide hours of work, and boxes that say what they are.

Well then;

Despite a rather nice payout from the previous round I elected to make no changes to my car for this week as I think the money would be better used as part of a larger upgrade later on.

I proceeded to Hong Kong where I ran three races of 2 laps each against slightly stronger competition than the previous week. This time I had Golf GTis and classic Skylines in place of the previous Fiat Puntos and classic Isuzus.

All three races were a little scruffy - enough to warrant a few hours in the bodyshop and a respray before next weeks competition. In fact, I think I traded paint with all 5 other competitors at some point over the three races.

No matter where, or on which side I tried to pass, the GTi driver always turned into me, and in once instance ended my race early by pushing me into a concrete corner along the waterfront!

Note to self: Ensure I am properly rested before commencing next weeks events.

Just an observation on the way the series is heading.
The points you get for winning, are quickly gonna make the speed difference between the cars kinda large. I dunno if you wanna create come sort of handicap system BH-21, but as is that RX-7 is gonna earn Jet badger between 2 & 3000 credits every week, while the guys down the bottom (who need the cash to keep up) will be lucky to get 1000.

If you did wanna keep the cars close I would suggest the points are added up, but have no affect on your money, that way the dice decides who gets what cash. You could even add that to a reverse $per week system (ie most points gets $100, 2nd gets $200 down to 7th getting $700 plus dice etc)
I know we are already two weeks in so it might be hard to adapt the series to a new money system and some people have already upgraded their cars a bit, but it would be worth it in the long run I believe.

Its completely up to you, but to give everyone a chance at winning (and keep the time close), the cars should remain comparable in speed (IMHO).

I disagree, the RX-7 was the first car picked, so we all had the chance to get something similarly powered with a similar drivetrain. We can only blame ourselves if we can't compete, this is only the second week anyway. Since when do you get less money in racing for doing good?

There are 7 competitors in this, and all are pretty good drivers, you should be bound by your choices and your ability to handle your chosen rig. If you can't hang, it's because of your driving ability combined with your car choice. I as well think I chose poorly, but I'm still gonna run my FF Mirage and hope for the best.

Yeah, I'm sticking with my FWD Honda, because for some reason, this car is fun to drive, unlike the other FWD cars

Remember also, that those were the shortest courses in GT4, and that was also the lowest paid rewards for any set in this whole series. If you want to stay competitive, don't come in 7th and get zero like I did. The real money is in the 3rd Circuit for 5 weeks, also with each circuit the points reset to zero so everyone starts fresh.

If you don't like your car, save up and buy something else, you can trade your old one in for 25% of purchase price and all parts purchased for it.

Well the Rx-7 was the first car picked for a reason, so while Jet Badger deserves the points he gets early on for making the best car choice, I don't think he should clean up the rest of the series as a result of being first in and best dressed to choose a car (No offense intended Jet Badger)
I'm perfectly happy with my car selection, and I think that the rest of us will be pretty close. The lower powered RWD's did better last round due to the twisty circuits we raced on, but as the circuits open up a bit the superior Power/Weight ratio of the FWD's might make up for the drive train disadvantage they have.
If everyone else is happy with the system we've got then fine, and this is BH-21's series so I'm happy to follow whatever rules he sets.

Also the points reset after every round so is the end champion the one who has the best combo of Gold, Silver, Bronze's after the final round?

The circuit champion is based on points. The awards are just for scenery to put on your mantle above your fireplace.

At present Jet Badger and two others haven't submitted a time so they are effectively DNF until they do, if they don't by sunday morning then the DNF is final.

Remember it costs a lot to upgrade a transmission and look at the Test Results for Max Speed. All concerns will come out in the wash as it were. We are all trying to either upgrade the car we have or looking for something better. Which way will get the upper hand and how long will they hold it, this is pure racing.

At the start I was choosing between a Sprinter Trueno, MR-2 and the RX-7. I chose the RX-7 mainly because I already had the other two, but the PW ratio was also in mind. I'm sure I wont be first in all tracks, i'm not a very good driver nor good at predicting the unpredictable behavior of the AI. The speed&acceleration test have proven that I have the most advantageous car, but that doesn't mean that I'm the fastest. :)

Okay, the race diary:
Since I have the most powerful car in the series, I thought it wouldn't be nice to add more power to it, so I paid 1,100Cr for the professional racing mechanics to brutaly strip my 45,000mile mazda's interior :)

Code:
Part Price
Weight Reduction Stage1 1,100Cr

Sorry Jet Badger, I didn't see that you had already posted your purchase. I guess I'm going to have to check here first. ;)

Ok, one more down, two to go with Dogbreath and Shotamagee remaining. Then some admining and followed by the awards ceremony/post.

Hopefully Dogbreath and Shotamagee aren't lost in Hong Kong, I mean, it's a pretty big place. Compared to my home town anyway, which is small ;)

Before my trip to Hong Kong I decided to lash out and spend some coin attempting to speed up my trusty MX-5.

After some haggling I found a mechanic who would fit the following parts for $1000 each;
race chip: $1000
stage 1 weight reduction: $1000

so my car now has
Power: 124 HP (was 120)
Weight: 911 kg (was 940)

With these modifications fitted, me and my car made the (apparently 4 day) boat ride to Hong Kong, for the latest round of the Sunday Cup.
My first try was pretty good, but I was annoyed that I didn't manage to better it in either following attempts, and my MX-5 now needs some panel beating due to the multiple contacts with AI cars.

Ok, now it is up to Dogbreath. He is building up the suspense for the award ceremony, there are some early favorites but how will it end?

It's Friday, Saturday for me, but anyway, just waiting for times to show up here, I have no idea where I am, could be 2nd, could be last. This is mad... I LIKE IT!!!

Haha, so sorry, I've been racing on iRacing and completely forgot about Gran Turismo. I'll put up a time within the next few hours~

Purchased a Racing Chip for 1000cr

My time is in.

Week3

:gtpflag:

Jet Badger is the 1st Circuit Champion with 27 points with Car-less close behind with 25 points.

Correct, then followed by a single track championship. Then comes the 3rd Circuit with about 5 tracks for each of 4 weeks before a single track championship. We are following the list on post #1.

P.S. If you don't think 100-600 CR in the weekly roll will affect your decision then you can get ahead if you like, you can even "PM" it before I start the next week if you like. The difficulty will be 1 for the bots until further notice. The points for the 2nd Circuit all start at 0 for every driver. Who will be the 2nd Circuit Champion?

I have no improvement. But it felt faster, must of been a bad week, I'm gonna have to step up my game

I know some of you have suggested ideas for changing the weekly outside income roll, well now is your chance. I've put forth a couple of ideas or you can put forth your own, either way cast your vote. The sooner we come up with a solution the easier it will be to implement, meaning before sunday if possible.
