Hey everyone. I got robbed yesterday, so sorry if I'm slacking on the media stuff. I'm pretty upset about it. Lost about a hundred bucks. :-(

Oh no, that sucks. :( I wish for something very bad to happen to that guy. Like what happened to Earl (shows man with moustache win lottery, run onto road and get hit by a car and have ticket fly away)

Times submitted
Pretty happy with all the races, and I think I made less AI contact this week throughout all five races than I did during one race at Hong Kong last week.

Edit: no upgrades for me this week.

Sorry to hear about that - I hope the money is all that they got away with - no keys/phones/credit cards etc.

You have a much better reason for slacking than me - I submitted my times three days ago and have only now got round to writing them up.

Nissan Silvia Qs '91

Despite saving my winnings from last week I still didn't have sufficient funds for a decent upgrade.

However, as my car had already been stripped down for a respray after some scruffy racing I decided to use some of the money anyway. In addition to the bodywork and paintjob, I instructed the mechanics to enact a stage 1 weight reduction plan. The cost, a rather reasonable 1,000cr.

Code:
Change	Balance	Description
===========================[COLOR="Slategray"][I]
	  6,500	Opening balance
- 5,673	= 827	Purchase price
- 50	= 777	Oil change
+ 600 = 1,377	Week 1 bonus
- 1,000 = 377	Racing Chip[/I][/COLOR]
+ 2,000 = 2,377	Week 2 winnings
+ 750 = 3,127	Week 3 winnings
+ 500 = 3,627 Week 3 bonus
+ 600 = 4,227 Week 4 bonus[COLOR="DarkRed"][B]
- 1,000	= 3,227	Stage 1 Weight Reduction[/B][/COLOR]

The removal of much of the interior made the car 67kg lighter, now weighing in at 1,043kg.

This was to be a rather busy week with 15 races accross 5 tracks. Morning, lunch and afternoon sessions each weekday meant that I was glad when the weekend arrived and I could get some rest.

The opposition this week was much more varied, with competitors from Alpine, BMW, Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Nissan, Peugeot and Volkswagen to name a few. But one thing was constant throughout. There was always a Mazda MX-5 Miata in every race.

The varied racing helped me to identify my cars strengths and weaknesses. The standing starts and long runs to the first corner at Suzuka East and Grand Valley East showed that my car was very good off the line, and meant that I was always leading into the first turn.

The rolling starts at Tsukuba and Super Speedway however showed my lack of power and poor acceleration at highway speeds. This meant that it was halfway through the last lap before I was able to take the lead.

Autumn Ring was a weird one. When I first arrived, I thought that I had made a mistake and arrived for the wrong race. At first glance it seemed to be a classic car race until I finally spotted the ever present Miata at the back - well he was at the back until I rolled into position behind him. Despite a rolling start I had no trouble passing the Miata as he went wide on the first corner, and the older cars were just as easy to pass as they were even worse than my own at accelerating in gear.

All but one of the races went well with me placing first in my class, and my car suffered less through the whole week than it did in just one day at Hong Kong. A little light rubbing and the odd visit onto the grass failed to cause any damage that won't buff out. Even the one rogue race caused no damage - it was a matter of getting it wrong and losing a lot of time digging myself out of the sandtrap.

Yeah the AI was pretty much a non issue for me this week, Tsukuba was probably the one that I had to adjust my lines for the most, but I was still first before the end of the first lap, that race was clean bar the third car (off the start) and me going side by side through the 90' right hander.
Suzuka was a non issue, 2nd into first corner, then first under brakes for the second.
The AI probably helped me improve my time at twin ring, as i was able to get a draft (just) off the 5th place car through T1 and going down the back straight on lap one, I then got around the outside of 4th and 5th through the 2nd turn, the first three cars were all side by side through the first corner on the second lap, so i drafted up and then made it 4 wide, before shooting off into the lead. (I didn't need brakes at twin ring, just a lift for a second or so entering T2 was enough)
Autumn ring was really easy as well, I hardly even had to adjust my lines to get past all the cars, I was in first by T5 (according to AMG track maps) on the first lap.
Finally GVE, where with the standing start I only had to out brake a Yaris into the first corner to get into first.

Seems like a pretty similar story to Car-less above, so this round should go pretty good for me and the little Mazda.

AE86 is so good mid-corner that I just drive around the AI, on the straights they'll stay next to me but I only ever notice them when they bump my quarter panel. The 4AGE + T50 combination in the car isn't meant for long straights :P

...except that the Toyota I had to outbrake was an MR2, not a Yaris.

*Bloody hell* I was so lazy this week. From monday to friday it was "nah, I have whole week for this" and now I will have to do it on the last day :)

I'll get some racing done today, hopefully. The real question is do I continue to save money, or make a few upgrades...2.3k isn't much to work with though.

Finally submitted my times :D
At Tsukuba and TRM-SS I did 2 attempts (in tsukuba because it was my first drive in GT4 after some time, and at Twin ring, because I made a terrible lap on the first try) all other tracks were completed in a single attempt without any practice :)

Working on that right now, while getting acquainted with a new steering device.

Also I sprang for a few upgrades:

Not very surprising, as expected I finished last in every race that I needed to use 2nd Gear heavily. This Mirage looked much better on paper, my 2nd Gear is the problem, that I don't know how to get around. Any suggestions, other than transmission change?

In my testing Mirage, 2nd is still too slow and long, even with Triple-Plate Clutch and Racing Flywheel. Man, I chose quite the dud of a FF, best starting Weight/HP, yet can't overcome 1 bad gear, and the FF drivetrain.

Now I am stuck with a car that I can even come close in, there are only 3 more tracks left in the season that I could possible place 1-3 (only with no one upgrading further), and with the poor resale rate I can't replace the car, even with favorable weekly rolls, I'm 3-4 weeks away from being able to sell my car to buy something that would be competitive in week one. I'm starting to wonder if participating anymore is even worth the time, just to keep finishing last through the rest of the season.

EDIT:
Parts purchased:
Racing Chip: 1,250 CR
SP- Flywheel: 430 CR

Total : 1,680 CR
Balance: 93 CR

Maybe you could cash yours in and get Car-less's used car. When its sold and converted to cash, it really doesn't matter who buys it for that cash amount. It would mean at the momment of converting yours to cash as well so you could afford it. If Car-less is looking to sell that is.

I don't know if you have noticed, but Car-less is kicking butt, he is first in the 2nd Circuit, first in the season standings. He also now has enough to get into the next tier of cars if he wants.

Another thing is oil changes, other people should be needing them soon.

I don't know if everyone noticed, but on the #1 post, with the rules, at the bottom is a weekly post directory that will take you to any of the important weekly posts.

This past week was great - much better than I had expected with everyone getting at least 1 podium finish. I may have gotten a Gold, but was also amongst the backmarkers in another race.

I have mixed feelings about this week, having been well and truly beaten at Super Speedway I know that my car doesn't have the legs for the long straights of Seoul. However, I do have over 2000 laps experience of the course which should help me get the best out of it - that and plenty of money for upgrades.

GrumpEones Mirage does seem to be suffering, but i'm not sure it is all down to the car. On paper it should be one of the best, and in practise stock vs stock it is second only to the RX-7 at Tsukuba and Seoul.

Regarding oil changes, I've done a lot of work studying this aspect of the game and can tell you that from 200km (125miles) to 300km (187.5miles) you will steadily lose 5% of your power. As we (should) have only run around 100 miles so far, I'll be holding off for at least another week.

...and with the low resale rate, I won't be selling my car anytime soon. In fact, It should be possible to remain competitive without ever selling it.

Edit: I decided to go again without modifications as my car appears to be competitive as it is.

Three runs with only the lightest of rubbings. Best replay saved. Can be converted and uploaded if anyone wants to see it.

See what you guys think of this rule.

** New Rule **

When a driver sells their car it may be purchased as is by the driver who's has the lowest season points for the price it was sold for. A driver may only purchase a car once a circuit in this manner.

The car may be passed or refused by the first eligible driver whereupon it passes up the the seasons points list until it reaches the person who sold the car originally. The person who originally sold the car may not purchase it and the car is sold to an outside dealer. If no one wants the car or it is sold by the person with the lowest season total the car is bought by an outside dealer.

The car recieves a one time only free oil change by its new owner who is responsible for its up keep from there on. The new owner will be told what parts come with the car and this car will retain the same sale value its original owner recieved when they sold it.

All I can say about that rule is that it gives me an awesome idea for another GT4 racing series! However, that rule won't effect me, but I wouldn't gawk if you guys traded cars a bit. Maybe throw me a turbo kit or something <.<

That new rule is fine except there's no reason or motivation for anyone with a decent car (or at least a car which someone else would want) to sell that car anytime soon (if ever). I can fairly safely say that I wont be selling my Mx-5.

Plus I can afford nitrous now, so my power deficit won't be such a problem from now on.

Yet, but will that apply in a week or two?

@ above: I think so, it makes a lot more sense to upgrade your current car then it does to buy a new one, especially with the current 75% loss of value on sale. Also, I for one like the idea of slowly turning my original car into something decent, which you lose when you chop and change vehicles.

@ GrumpEone, as this is the first season there will be some kinks to iron out with the format and rules, and the only way to find them is by everyone participating. (though I sympathize with you being stuck in a car you obviously don't like) So that for the second season (if there is one) we'll know which rules to jig to make things more enjoyable/even for everyone. Still its completely up to you what you do with your spare time.

EDIT: To me it all seems fairly even (atm), I came first twice, then last, 2nd last and 3rd last, so the competition is closer than I thought it might be.

EDIT 2: Looks like I'm first back again, I'll say this bluntly can we ban the use of nitrous from the series? I know it says we can on the first page, but with it I was a whole 15 seconds faster than when I raced without it, for just 2 laps around Seoul. I know it won't be worth as much around other tracks, but it still feels like using nitrous is the equivalent of bringing a machine gun to a pillow fight. I'm more than happy to submit my time without nitrous, otherwise it'll turn into a race series between those with and those without.

As always I'm happy to follow whatever everyone else thinks, or whatever rules BH-21 lays down, its just my 2 cents.

Its wedensday and I still have the same three times submitted on sunday. Just a friendly reminder for those forgetful souls.

P.S. Nitrous if perfectly legal in this series as is any part you can afford. If we get a show of hands that want to ban Nitrous though, it will be banned, only need 4 votes out of 7.
