Not really helpful for me right now since I'm with max money.

Just to say that some cars will gain a re-run after finishing the whole lot of cars due to me constantly finding new ways of making certain turns. As example, Roj's and XDespy so far will gain a re-run.

Buy a pink X2010. Now you've got plenty of space for money. :P That and the event gives you a level 23 ticket so that's always handy. :dopey:

I just turned a 1:44.645 with krenkme's RX-7.. even though I only tested 3 cars, it's 0.903 faster than Roj's Impreza!!! And 1.334 seconds faster than XDespy Garaiya... What's happening? I did run 5 laps with each car to be fair.
Your times will get faster and faster for a bit, they usually do.
If I were test driving this, I'd run all the GT500's twice, followed by the GT300's just once, as I'd have the track nailed down fully by then, then it's just a matter of nailing a lap with each car.:)

Desperado, I gotta ask, what's with the low down-force?

You don't need more downforce at this level and on this track. With the lower settings I used the car is 2-3mph faster down the main straight plus it just feels more alive and enjoyable to me this way.

Did you read my notes I wrote in both the tune and after posting the tune for my "Little Red Wagon"?:odd:

You still need as much front downforce as you can have so you can maintain high cornering speeds. At least that was my train of thought when I set up the Impreza.

This. Although I think I went overboard on rear downforce. Oh well, too late to do anything about it now :P

I really wonder why nobody tuned the Toyota Castrol Tom's Supra '97.

That car has potential.

Just noticed it.....

You're not gonna win this way desperado.
I don't enjoy driving mindless slotcars...if that means I lose this event so be it.
When I'm driving I like to feel a sense of connection to both the car and the track and that is how I tuned the "Little Red Wagon". It might not be the fastest car but hopefully people will enjoy the feeling it provides while driving it and for this shootout that is what is more important. If this Shootout was strictly about hot lap times then I might have tuned it differently, then again the car felt as fast if not faster this way then it did with much higher downforce. I think the reason for that is the combination of track and tires. You have high speed sweepers and low speed hairpins but no real medium speed turns where the extra downforce would show the most benefit. The tires and suspension provide plenty of grip in the high speed sweepers and downforce doesn't really help much if at all in the hairpins.

I seriously considered it since it actually has a higher stock downforce setting of 50/70 rather than 35/60, but I decided against it since I wouldn't be able to break it in in time.

While tuning the Garaiya it actually seemed to understeer more with higher front downforce settings. Perhaps if I had had more time to tune the car then the few hours I spent with it yesterday I could have fixed that to take advantage of it and provide the driving feel I like but since I was up against the clock I simply went with what was working the easiest for me at the time. Just a note here, I didn't even look at the Garaiya until after I posted the tune for the Diablo.

Yup, I wanted to do a new car but because of the time it would take to break it in I opted for a standard one.

It would've been my choice of car for GT500, but I didn't bother entering GT500.

You're only using double the amount of rear downforce that I'm using, I don't think it's that overboard.

Your '03 is still faster than my '08 though. Damn 4WD lagging on the straights. :ouch:

Super tune VTiRoj

I managed with your tune on Fuji circuit (Cusco at 510pp and 220Kw) easily a 1:42.9xx and hadn`t a lot of tries (Maybe 3 rounds) :dopey:

I LOVE YOUR TUNES 💡

BW Dougy
Thank you! :)

Ehh, I don't think its actually faster on the straights, since Bolverk still said your tune was quicker out of the two Imprezas. Should be close anyway :)

Faster on the straight to me is determined by your exit speed out of the final corner. It takes the entire straight for the rwd impreza to catch the 4wd if the driver uses the 4wd to his/her advantage and by that time its brakes and back to the 4wd strong side.

Really sad, cause the low downforce kills the chances of your car.
You could probably use almost the same tune for both Supras.

Doesn't take away the main issue of breaking it in though. And its a bit pointless now discussing it, deadline has passed, testers, go go go :P

I'm wondering if I should sign up as a tester..Should be fun but I hate-hate Fuji..Hmm.

Also, to testers, both my cars are suppose to have MAX Downforce, I didn't bother mentioning it in my tunes, but just in case..

Well....couple things there...

First, down-force helps cars straight off the line, meaning it actually improves your 0-60 time and accel g-forces, so it does have play (in GT5) at all speeds.
What I can say is I've tried as far as full front/low rear down-force, and tightened the suspension, ad it has actually made my car slower every time. It seems unfortunately the braking distance reduction extra down-force gives is actually worth more than the speed gained all in itself, minus the cornering grip.

I certainly do believe lower (particularly rear) aero cars can feel much better than full aero cars, despite the lap times.

You brought up another point I should probably have mentioned in my notes for the Garaiya.
The brakes. Its set up for trail braking to help rotate into corners, but I have lower brake settings than some of the other cars here. I did this to encourage drivers to brake a little earlier and hopefully not so hard. You want to carry as much speed into and through the corners as possible as the car doesn't exactly accelerate like a dragster. Scrubbing off to much speed by late hard braking will actually cost you more time due to the slightly sluggish acceleration of the car. This is particularly important in the final uphill series of switchbacks as letting the speed drop too low will likely lead to excessive wheel spin when trying to accelerate out of the corner, and the slightly off camber angle of the track could cause the rear end to slide out in the wrong direction if it losses traction through wheel spin. Of course that is one way to get this car to create a thoroughly impressive smoke cloud as it generally won't break the tires free under normal straight line acceleration.

I agree, but that's always the case.
Speed through corners > Super late hard braking.

It's doing both that's the tricky part.

Just to say guys, my count of testing of now is:
GT300: 8 down, 2 to go.
GT500: 0 down, 10 to go.

And that's because I went out with my parents and took a 2 hour nap. I could have nailed 2-4 cars of the GT500 and finished the whole GT300 if it wasn't for that.

Well…where's the results? :P

CSLACR - Where is your Calsonic? I don't see it on share. Not sneaking in some last minute testing are you? ;)

I have decided to test because I like Fugi and I really like these cars. For now I am commiting to test the GT500 class. Have five done now and will finish the other five this weekend. If I have time before the end of the month, I may also do the GT300 class?

Krenkme - with five tested, so far I like your Lambo the best. It isn't the fastest so far (2nd) but I was able to drive on top of my ghost and put down five very consistent laps. Can't wait to see how it stacks up against the other five.
