The thing is this, I really enjoy leveling out the playing field to be around each other on the track while racing. The last thing I want to do is win by having an online time trial experience running hot laps out front. Why bother. When I'm successful in creating a level playing field it's very rewarding as a host. Thankful for those of you who put up with my ideas and put up with my testing instructions.

A level playing field with cars running nose to tail is by far the best racing experience you can have. With all cars being equal and relying on ability and nerve to complete a pass is very gratifying.

Unfortunately the online play of this game was, I feel, an after thought. Too much responsibility is put on the host of the series to keep the competition equal.

The only thing that sucks about going with premiums only is that I went on a rally car purchase frenzy in the used car dealerships. Oh well. Definitely work to be put in to try to get as close to the times I had with the EVO super rally car.

I feel really bad for everybody that went out of there way buying rally cars and practicing only to find out you couldn't use them.

I should of set better regulations. I'm thinking after this season it might be time to retire the stc. I have not done such a good job hosting and planning this series i'm afraid.

If no one wants to buy all 4 of the premium cars, I would recommend going with the Suzuki. The suspension setup out of the box is perfect on this track. Just add the hp, adjust the differential and its good to go.

And if anyone wants one of the other three, let me know and I'll send it to you.

You did fine DJ. Like was said we've all gotten more sophisticated with the cars and driving in the last year.

I bought up all the used Rally Cars too and of course never drove a one. But I always buy up anything I don't have in the OCD especially Race Cars.

Unfortunately real life has a way of throwing the old monkey wrench in on fun. You still have options to keep STC going;

1. Run an invitational race once a month like JT's Fiasco Series
2. Hand over the reins to someone else but still set the outline for the series

We do have a great group of guys that would be together if it wasn't for STC. Hopefully we can keep the series going some how

Well, this is only going to be the second race of the season. I guess ill wait and see how this season turns out before making any future decisions.

To be honest, I had a blast in the first race. So im really looking forward to the next. Racing to win is not my goal either. Im racing for fun and if that means battling for last place then so be it! Lol

Btw, i'm bringing back one of my old favorites for this race.

I thought laguna was the first race. Or am I confused. It happens easily.

You are correct...you are not delusional from all the jumping up and down during the celebration for the Jayhawks

Lol I am losing my marbles. We are on on 3rd race. Man work is killing my memory

The problem is that we are at a higher level than before. We pretty much all know off the bat, and from past experience, which handful of cars to test and use for any given challenge. In PP races it's all about power to weight ratio. You can pretty much choose a car based on its power to weight ratio from the garage, never drive it, show up on race day and win. It sucks but it's true. I always hope to see a wide mix of cars on track but this game makes that hard to accomplish. There is really nothing any of us can do about it unless we are trying to not be competitive.

The Daytona Special Event Race was successful because of research and testing. We had to enter cars at varied HP and weight but it worked. Something game users should not have to do, but a necessary evil when we are driving at our competitive level.

I agree with most of that...... but, when you are running non-race cars you can't always go by power to weight ratio. IMO a more important factor is downforce. Take this weeks MR race, there are quite a few cars that have a much better power to weight ratio than the Elise, but won't come close to the same lap times simply because you are not able to put the aero parts on it to acheive the same downforce that you can with the Elise. This is also true in some race cars, take the DTM's, at equal power to weight, the SLK is faster and the only difference is more downforce. Other than that example, power weight is usually good for matching pure race cars.

It is very hard to find matching non-race cars, but I'm not sure it's really the games fault. I imagine it would be just as hard to match cars in real life as well.

I know it's too late now, and I am not suggesting it.... but if we had simply banned the Elise I think we would have had a pretty good variety of cars show up for the race. I tested quite a few that ran very close to each other, unfortunately, all of them were more than 1sec slower than the Elise.

Not a bad idea for variety.

I was going to mention the downforce thing but I visit this forum on my phone. I didn't feel like typing very much. Great points.

It might make sense to ban a car to prevent one make races. I start out planing to run a "different" car, but at the last minute I change to what the group is running. For the ff race if I hadn't decided to run the integra at the last minute DJ and I wouldn't have run together. I don't know what I'm running for MR: MR2, Espirit, Evora, NSX, ZZ-S, Spirra, or Elise.

Maybe we need to come up with some car groupings that are more equal, have like a stable of various groups of cars that compete well together. Start out with a small sample group that could be added too as more testing is done.

I disagree. I'm pretty sure, nothing about me has gotten more sophisticated in the past year, and I aint gettin more sophisticated next year neither.

I do have an idea, though. Really. When we find that one car in a group that is faster than the rest, we disallow it for all you fast guys, but permit it for DJ, Scorp, Brett and, of course, Logan.

I concur!

Well, I was planning on running my Atomic Orange S7 for this weeks race (mid .56 laps) since I figured I wouldn't be competing for the win I might as well race one of my favorite looking cars.

But then I went ahead and made the mistake of doing some engine tuning and weight reduction for some stupid reason. I guess I was figuring I can add some ballast and tune down the power some more.

I was wrong.

So my Saleen idea is out the window. For some reason I can't get another S7 in my garage to fit the regs as good as my Atomic Orange S7.

Lotus it is for me!

OP says lobby opens at 9 eastern/ race at 10. . Are we racing 30 minutes earlier?

Someone really needs to keep me off my cel while i'm at work. rash is correct.

I placed 37th

So I do suck. I hit 1877, 688 then chopped to 4 hundred something. I was surprised as usually I'm about 5000th or so. I only do 2 laps on most, 1st lap is usually silver then I gold. I don't spend much time on them, just want the money. Maybe I should actually set up a car and try to do better. Good job DA.

Another good challenge is the latest seasonal 650pp@ Nordschleife. Try to beat the McClaren using Race Hards. I got lucky with a lineup w/o it or the Zonda and won easily w/ the Nissan R35 TC. Been trying with the R390 Race Car. It's a bitch getting around the brainless GT500's.
