Supercar Festival - Help, tips, information.

I used my audi att or something like that and did no upgrades. This was a great time! Only won 4 out of ten races with racing hard tires and 483 hp. Could not win on any track that was all about straights, but was so close that I had a great time staying close. I won championship 72 to 70! Maybe I suck but had a great time!

You can't use racing tyres, that's what's really pissing me off about this tournament. Okay it may make mean I'm a poor driver, but when I've got 500+ bhp I want to be able to use the power and stay on the track; holding back's not my strongpoint. Still, perseverance seems to be the key, I've got golds on all except a silver on Infineon (hate that bloody track), using about 3 or 4 different cars to find my ideal one for each track.

P.S. - Oh btw I just remembered - I really found it useful switching to manual gears. Engine braking (by shifting down) gives you that little bit more traction that's vital when using ****ty sports tyres. It helped me even though I did forget to shift a few times!

Got the tvr now with a supercharger 1082 bhp, with super racing tyres got lapped after 6 laps, i didn't need to pit. markc123 or anyone can you point me in the direction of some great setting please so i can kick Ass., thanks si.

Another using racing tyres?? Is it the PAL version that doesn't allow these or is it just me? Just curiousity though, as I just got the last gold with my Skyline.

I was wondering that. The race requirements clearly say normal or sports tires only. But then it says over 493hp and my Callaway couldn't enter with 498hp.

However, when I put it up to 566 to enter, once I got to the setings for the race I found I could take out all the power mods (438hp) and be allowed to run the race.

Maybe this works for tires too? As long as you enter on sports tires you can fit race ones once you get to the settings screen? I'll test this in a bit...........

EDIT:
Just tried changing to race tires on the settings screen, and it wouldn't let me. So NO race tires in this event (unless it's different in the other versions, i'm using PAL)
You can take out the power mods though, I took the power mods off my Proto Spirra after getting onto the race and could run at 340hp. Not that there's any point doing that (ZZ-II + Cien >>>>>> non-tuned Spirra)

I used the Saleen S7, and it was easy(just brake early). I now going to use a Aston Martin DB9(its fixed up and has a wing so it looks like its a DBR9). If you can tune an M3's tranmission good you can win easily.

I did the High Speed Ring race with my tuned S7, but it was way too easy! I'll have to tone it down a bit before going through the full championsip!

I used a Ford GT '05 with an engine tune up. Won all races. In B-Spec.

I'll do it in A-Spec in a couple of days.

B-Spec is a good practice method - to see how the other cars work against your chosen mount - A-Spec can always go a little faster. :dopey:

glad i found this thead....

doing this series right now with a saleen s7... won the first race easy (well moderately) with the (illegal) cien bumping me all the way cept for 1/2 the last lap. all other races I could only get 2nd to cien and the illegal zz2 bumping me near the end of the races...

car sold as it suck the sweat off a dead dingo's balls...

I didnt realise that you could mod cars so I'll buy a viper gts and mod it a bit :)
should be able to blitz them :)

i hate this series... :(
The pace of all the cars just stresses me out. I mean, I can take the lead, and lead the race for about 6 laps, and then the last lap comes, and I just screw up! hehehe.

I tried B-spec racing it, but to no avail.

will take everyone's advice here... McMerc, M3, Ford GT and the Speed 12... :)

Used the Saleen S7 and won easily (I did tune it slightly....) What car can win me the most A-spec points without being a chore to win this series??

Caught between playing GT4, Forza & MC3 or some Halo 2 & Doom 3 when I feel like kicking alien/demon scum....:)

For some of the supercars, it can be really stressing to tune them to success. It came to my surprise that Sports and Standard Tires are needed for the race. This just makes the cars tougher to handle in my view. Finding any sort of way to modify these machines is more of trial and error. Now I figured out why I'd rather not race again. I don't know if I stated this in the past, but I was thinking about trying to win back the Cizeta prize car, try to make it shine. The last time I used that machine in a race series, all I wanted to do was win that Italian car event in the European Hall.

With my 800hp Dodge Viper SRT10, that's why I use Racing Tires for it. The moment I switched to Sports Medium tires, my Viper was basically a high-horsepowered beast that can't turn even if its life depended on it. I've tried just about everything- camber tuning, destabilizing the car at front and rear, modifying toe settings, turning off ASM and toning down TCS... all to no avail. It can be tough to modify a supercar. Even the Saleen S7 has been a drag for me, even in the Super License test with it.

The latest project car I'm using is the Ruf RGT. Alois Ruf would be proud seeing my RGT race in the Supercar Festival trying to take down Ford GTs, Saleen S7s, Cizetas, even Paganis and stuff. Regardless, people say rally racing in GT4 is a joke, to me, this is more of a joke. When you can't win even after all your A-Spec'ing, that's a joke. A damn shame. A piece of crap. A rose by any other name is still a rose.

The M5 will generate 150-200 a-spec points - hp mods needed depend on the opposition. I got 200 points using NA Stage 1 and the 150 with no hp mods so opps are very important. It should be possible to get 200 for every race in the M5.

The M5 handles like a dream - this was my favorite series so far. Just make sure you qualify in first and can hold onto first place for a few laps - the AI really speeds up after a few laps. Your tranny will need to be set exactly right for each course.

If you come up against an ZZII at Midfield and he seems to be kicking your arse then just keep as close as you can - within 10 seconds - both times I came up against this car he completely lost it on the last lap going under the bridge allowing me to get past.

finally found the car for me... the jag xj220 with a turbo upgrade. comfortably won all races by an average of 10 seconds per. Even the dreaded Infineon track was tamed by this purple (at least my car was purple) beast.

B-Spec'ing the races still won't work for me, but at least A-spec'ing the races wasn't as bad as i thought.

yahoo! :D

Thankx Moloch...like your avatar!!

That's my b-spec driver 👍 btw - I thought something in what I said was not quite right, of course there is no qualifying - I was confused as this is the first series that I actually went and paid my 5 cr to practice on all the courses before I entered the race. I pretty well had to run error free to win these races and then keep reentering if I got the wrong line-up or if the line-up was in the wrong order (the Cien can be beaten if it starts in 5th and everything goes well). There practice was well worth the time and money (and 25 cr is such a huge impost :) )

Purple XJ220? What's wrong with Madeira Metallic, or whatever it's called? It's that deep, deep red color. Not as deep as Burgundy Metallic for the old-school Camaros, though.

I never thought about the BMW M5. I used that car to blast through the Club M races. Say what you want about Chris Bangle's design impact on this car, but this machine has seven gears and a not-bad top speed. In fact, I think BMW should think about maybe returning to the sportscar racing. I don't know about competing against Corvettes and 575Cs, so I'd say maybe against the Porsches and such. With some tuning, the M5 would make a nice GT2 (or maybe even GT1) racer.

I'll have to think about getting a BMW M5 for that series because I want to try to get the Cizeta again, just to see if I can make it shine.

One last off-topic note about BMW. I didn't know this, but I found out that Chris Bangle is American. I thought he was some British guy or something. But, Bangle is American designing stuff for BMW. Bangle is as American as the dude who recently took 75% control of Manchester United. Anyhow, I'll think about re-using the M5.

i just found that particular shade of purple to be evil looking.. hehehe

got disappointed thinking that I can mod my m3 to compete here, but tuns out, i'm one PS shy of the cut-off... was thinking M3 when I should have gotten the M5.

I used the R34 GTR done up totaly and that worked pretty well, not many "unmodified" cars can stand up to it especially in off the line acceleration. won pretty easy once i fixed that up.

Well I've said that handling most of the supercars has been pretty disappointing. I thought it was pretty tough to modify them to be worthy competitors. Do you all agree, or can the race series be won without excessive tuning?

It took me forever to get around to this series, because
1) I wanted to use an actual supercar
2) I didn't want to buy an actual supercar
I think I've got 4 concept cars that would qualify for the race, if they weren't concept cars.
I tried tuning up a used Esprit V8, but at 500hp it was still overpowered by everything else (anyway, it understeers too much). So, last night I bit the bullet and went new car shopping. This would be 'brand new from the dealer' car #2 for me (You can't win anything for the truck race either, so I got a Ram). I got a Speed 12 on the grounds that it is between 1/2 and 1/3 as expensive as the competition, at least 50% more powerfull, and 3 times cooler.
I put off actually doing the race untill later today, and I was worried that it actually isn't a production car at all. Way back on page 1 of this thread, Ev0 said it (over)qualifies though, so all is well.

I haven't driven many, but would definately agree in regards to the Ford GT. Man what a terrible driving automobile. I won it a while back in another series, can't remember which. It's the one without the stripes. Drove it for the first time the night before last and man what a disappointment. The Saleen on the other hand is awesome. In stock form the only bad points are brakes, this seems the trend with all the supercars, and the transmission. What's with 2nd gear. About all it really needs to balance it out is a custom transmission and brake controller. I have a few thousand miles on mine now, and all available tuning with the exception of permanent ones; lightening, engine balancing, and port and polish. Bob has put many miles on it in endurances.

There's nothing wrong with the brakes on any of the supercars - including the GT. Scaff put a big long thread up explaining it all...............

Have a look - if you can be bothered to read it all there's some good stuff in there. The main point is tyres. If you tune the GT(or the S7 or the Merc SLR) up to 700+ HP then the tyres can't handle the power and you'll have all of no braking power. If your going to tune them up put better tyres on. I think almost all the cars for the supercar cup work better stock in this series - tune em up and the sports tyres can't handle it (Except the Speed 12 which wheelspins so much it doesn't make any difference). The Ford GT is a great car - I find it to be a much nicer drive than the Saleen on S2 tyres.

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, is 2nd really short or something?
The S7 has a very long 1st gear so that it can reach 60mph without shifting, and Saleen can quote a shorter 0-60 time.
