First of all, I'm hoping y'all don't hate on me for bumping this topic from page 2. After all, it's only eight days ago, and I just got back from vacation. The truth is, I haven't posted on GT Planet for about a year now because I haven't had much time for gaming recently. But that fact forms the very basis of my comments, which are;
About a year-plus-a-bit ago, when I just started browsing the GTP community, there was a lot of talk about course maker being missing and yada yada yada. I didn't care too much, I didn't like it in GT5 and I didn't come to the site to get involved in petulance or whining, the generally accepted necessary evils that accompany the astonishing things an internet community can achieve.
Every update thread was full of 'still no course maker!' replies and other various negatvity towards PD. Fine, not my agenda.
So, skip forward to now I randomly log on to GTP last Friday in the airport lounge because I was randomly looking for information about original GT on PSX. I thought this would be a good place to look. And hello, what's this on the front page. Course maker released! OMG. Gotta check it out..
Can I actually believe my eyes? Sorry is this a joke? Tablet only? Haha. Hahahahaha. You cannot be serious.
Oh, you are
The fact is, as professed, I don't really care about course maker. I even have the 'right' tablet, and I expect if I downloaded it it'd probably be pretty good. It seems well received in other areas of the forum here, despite a few hitches. None of that matters though. This could be course maker, car painter, engine mapper, or any other GTwidget but the decision to make this promised 'game feature' a tablet-only release (yes, I read the workarounds and I care not for them) is DAFT as
🤬
Not only that, but is is one bad decision in a very long line of previous bad decisions that this franchise has made. If PD are going to make these kind of decisions, it is my opinion that GT is doomed, and I won't be giving it a second glance. I'm done here.
I've loved (and hated, for it's vices) GT from the first day. I'm no fanboy but I'm not prejudice either. My point is, I'm a GT guy. I'm not a Forza guy. I'm not a sim guy, I had a PC rig for a while but it's too complicated, video games are meant to be fun. I never owned GT1 because I was a schoolboy with no money, but I used to hire it from Blockbuster as often as I could. I played GT2 to death. I hated GT3 because it was too hard to earn money, so just played GT2 until GT4 came out. I played GT4 to death, and back again. GT5 left me a little cold but GT6, despite not being much better, reminded me of GT4 enough for me to like it.
I'm a racer. I'm a true racer. Racing is life, as the cliche so goes. I didn't hold Kaz in much regard (for various GT stupidity) until I really understood (I think) his passion for what he's tried to do, and I was able to relate to his vision. I do the same thing myself with slot car racing, for anyone who knows what that is. I too love motor racing enough to inject it into every possible area of my life, pay homage to a world I'm not a part of.
But I cannot understand the man that makes this decision.
Mr nail, meet Mrs coffin. In the name of Gran Turismo, may you two be joined in holy matrimony..
