only a few people can use the app. How does this make you feel?

  • It makes me feel cheated. PD should make the app available for everyone.

  • I have an iPad, it works for me, so meh. I don't care about the whiners.

  • I guess I feel sad about it, I really wanted to try it.

  • Looks like I'm getting a tablet..

  • All this time I was hyped for this feature. Now I'm unsure anout my future and Gran Turismo.

  • ??? What do you mean not all of us can use the app?

  • I'll just emu it when it works. I really don't care that much.

  • Meh!

  • If it comes to other devices, I'll be really glad. I want to use my smartphone and/or PC.

This is what I came to say. It works on my mac, but don't know how to zoom. I assume there is a way I just don't know the commands.
I just clicked on the keyboard icon and mapped the zoom buttons.

It works fine to zoom on the touchpad? Does for me anyway. MacBook Pro Retina 13" late 2012.

Been wondering about that myself. You're better off rotating it in a photo editor app first before loading it in the track app. @Kazuya720

The decision to keep it exclusive to the tablets it's not a problem, but what really grind my gears is a lack of explanation of why they've decided to do so, which really makes me worried about GT7.
I see that unfortunately they keep working in the same way they did in the past (GT5 & GT6,) which is very unorganized, a perfect example of this are VGT and they irregular release schedule, I mean sometimes we get teasers and have to wait months before we see them in-game, or they come out completely out of the blue, sometimes we get one car, sometimes we get two, some have interiors and then some others don't, the next time GTPlanet has the chance to interview Kaz, I hope you can ask why they've decided to keep the course maker app exclusive to the tablets and if it's coming to the PS3 or PC in the future, because I like to think there is a good reason and it's not some random choice, because I am still scratching my head trying to understand this decision.

So:

Yes you did, and yes you are.

CPU=Power. The brains of the operation and powerful enough, even though it probably runs at close to peak with GT6.

RAM=Storage. A resource of limited size that stores stuff ready for when it's needed. Soon fills up if you ask it to remember too much causing queues and a performance loss. If you're close to the limit, you try and avoid going over it.

Done with this now as I've explained my opinion well enough, and it was only an opinion in the first place. "Very much doubt" wasn't set in stone.

I don't mind the tablet when it works. Problem is, for me, it doesn't work 99% of the time and it would've been just so much easier having it on PC or in game because the app is so buggy.

As pissed as I was, I barely even care anymore because I was able to get the app working on my phone. I've been using it for days and I love it. The only ways I'd like to improve it is to have control over elevation of the track, we should be able to make tighter and sharper turns, we should be able to use an image for tracing on ANY of the track environments, not just Eifel flat, and we shouldn't be limited to the main straights that we're forced to use.

Otherwise, I'm kind of amazed with the app but there's nothing about it that couldn't work on PS3.

It still absolutely destroys the course maker in GT5 which was already the best and probably the only in realistic racing games.

It's things like this that just make me laugh when people say that GT is stuck in the past. GT is so far ahead of most sims, and this is a perfect example but all people can remember is the negatives like AI and sound

That's strange. I'm using the app on a very weak smartphone and the app has worked literally 100% of the time. Not a single problem so far and my phone isn't supposed to even be compatible with the app.

Has anyone been successful with an emulator yet? I can't try at the moment, but I will try in the evening if I find the time.

No but I have been very successful with downloading the APK file for the app and installing it on my phone. If your tablet or phone is "incompatible" with the app on the google play store, just find the APK file on the internet. There was another thread on GTP that had a direct link to the APK file. I installed it and its worked perfectly for me even though it's supposedly "incompatible"

I guess I'm one of those few lucky 🤬.

Got no tablet, but .apk version works on my 6 years old notebook PC (bluestacks) and my 3 years old Xperia smartphone, so what is this complaining all about ? :banghead:

 We need something to complain about sometimes. And we complained and complained about the lack of a blowtorch and they gave us a flame-thrower.

I'm not even remotely understanding why my post posted a second time, but even if you weren't purely arguing semantics this was already addressed:
If the PS3 wouldn't have enough RAM to run a simple vector program, it wouldn't have enough to run GT6 at all.

It wasn't really a matter of opinion to begin with. That was why I immediately questioned why you thought something crazy like GT6 could be run but not a program that basically just draws lines on a superimposed picture. The PS3 certainly kicks the crap, in raw power and "resources", out of the PowerMac G4s I was taught Photoshop on in middle school; so I find it a real stretch to imply that PD were incapable of doing so essentially just because they didn't.

Who was the genius who thought that designing a track with fingers on a touch screen display would be a good idea? Seriously, Im trying to overlay my track line but it's impossible because my fingers aren't transparent. Trying to move the racing line within milimeters is simply impossible. Gonna try an emulator on the PC.

Though I got it working on my PC I thought I'd pick up a tablet anyway just for the convenience, only problem I'm getting now is the transfers time out most of the time.

Sideloading works on my Moto G Gen 2. So it has nothing to do with ram, since this phone got only one GB of ram.

Anyone know how to get KML/GPX files to load?

I've tried on a tablet, LG G4, and Bluestacks; and got nothing. Bluestacks wouldn't even try to load the file. I keep clicking on it and nothing happened. :(

I'm not a course creator, but this is how i felt for my fellow members that waited so long for this:
The negatives#1:
-Took too long.
-It's here and it's not on ps3(import only), but tablet only ( they think)

The positives:
-it works ( not everwhere but it does)
-Even if tablet is a pre, the single apk files works also on android smartphones.
-I now understand the Tablet feature, bigger screen=better handling within the app
-people create awesome tracks
-Import tracks from friends
-import tracks from a workaround link that isn't in your friendslist.
-(not tried by me) you can use a photo to trace a racetrack into the app.
-Extra's can be put aside the road of the track (people, tribunes, houses? etc.)
-connecting a mouse on your phone/tablet gives accuracy. Choice for bluetooth is possible.
A cabled mouse will drain your battery faster.
But it works, i have diffrent cables, usb mouse/keyboard/stick work with these kind of cables.
My daughter sometimes uses a cordless mouse on her samsung S5, works like a charm.
micro-usb-naar-usb-verloop-kabel.jpg

The negatives #2:
-30 tracks is the maximum saveable.
-Tracks can be doublesaved, no warning that the track is saved allready(happened when i was too fast with saving tracks from my friendslist, that gets your 30track limit full fast)
-No bridging (crossing the track to create a sort of 8 track)
-No elevating, you're limited to the mapping of the world around the example tracks.

How do i feel now?
Not bad, just a little dissapointed that people had to search for a workaround to get the app working at their sattisfaction.
With these modern smartphones, tablets are not always preferred.
So after waiting for the coursemaker, that Tablet message was another kick in the guts for fans that waited so long.
Thanks to :gtplanet: and youtube, people can use it without a tablet.

First of all, I'm hoping y'all don't hate on me for bumping this topic from page 2. After all, it's only eight days ago, and I just got back from vacation. The truth is, I haven't posted on GT Planet for about a year now because I haven't had much time for gaming recently. But that fact forms the very basis of my comments, which are;

About a year-plus-a-bit ago, when I just started browsing the GTP community, there was a lot of talk about course maker being missing and yada yada yada. I didn't care too much, I didn't like it in GT5 and I didn't come to the site to get involved in petulance or whining, the generally accepted necessary evils that accompany the astonishing things an internet community can achieve.

Every update thread was full of 'still no course maker!' replies and other various negatvity towards PD. Fine, not my agenda.

So, skip forward to now I randomly log on to GTP last Friday in the airport lounge because I was randomly looking for information about original GT on PSX. I thought this would be a good place to look. And hello, what's this on the front page. Course maker released! OMG. Gotta check it out..

Can I actually believe my eyes? Sorry is this a joke? Tablet only? Haha. Hahahahaha. You cannot be serious.

Oh, you are :indiff:

The fact is, as professed, I don't really care about course maker. I even have the 'right' tablet, and I expect if I downloaded it it'd probably be pretty good. It seems well received in other areas of the forum here, despite a few hitches. None of that matters though. This could be course maker, car painter, engine mapper, or any other GTwidget but the decision to make this promised 'game feature' a tablet-only release (yes, I read the workarounds and I care not for them) is DAFT as :banghead:🤬

Not only that, but is is one bad decision in a very long line of previous bad decisions that this franchise has made. If PD are going to make these kind of decisions, it is my opinion that GT is doomed, and I won't be giving it a second glance. I'm done here.

I've loved (and hated, for it's vices) GT from the first day. I'm no fanboy but I'm not prejudice either. My point is, I'm a GT guy. I'm not a Forza guy. I'm not a sim guy, I had a PC rig for a while but it's too complicated, video games are meant to be fun. I never owned GT1 because I was a schoolboy with no money, but I used to hire it from Blockbuster as often as I could. I played GT2 to death. I hated GT3 because it was too hard to earn money, so just played GT2 until GT4 came out. I played GT4 to death, and back again. GT5 left me a little cold but GT6, despite not being much better, reminded me of GT4 enough for me to like it.

I'm a racer. I'm a true racer. Racing is life, as the cliche so goes. I didn't hold Kaz in much regard (for various GT stupidity) until I really understood (I think) his passion for what he's tried to do, and I was able to relate to his vision. I do the same thing myself with slot car racing, for anyone who knows what that is. I too love motor racing enough to inject it into every possible area of my life, pay homage to a world I'm not a part of.

But I cannot understand the man that makes this decision.

Mr nail, meet Mrs coffin. In the name of Gran Turismo, may you two be joined in holy matrimony..
