This is a cool combo! craziest electric car ever methinks :D I haven't tried it without srf as I want to try and hang with the front runners if possible and it's not possible without :(
Top marks to the guys who have run without SRF and gone near a sub 1 minute 👍

Anyway it's a pleasant change from the norm and look forward to more laps after work in the wee small hours... Good luck to all running this combo

👍

hmmmm cheers for that, so basically no drift, smooth, no handbrake? I think I might need to get that file imported anyway to see where I'm losing. Looks like take all corners as V shape is the best way to tackle by the looks of things.

Are you using ABS?

If not you can just trail the brake really deep into the corner and it rotates around really nicely (a lot less violent than yanking the handbrake). 👍

You will need to use handbrake, very lightly in the first tight section, and just a few touch's of it elsewhere for sharper rotation. 👍

Alright then so you gota use it... I never used handbrakes in GT5 or 6, I simply suck at it. I try to swing the thing to turn but doesn't seem to be effective. Use ABS1+handbrake looks like a proper way to go for this combo:boggled:

I use noABS these days, trying to master the art of it. Because of that I don't really feel the need to use handbrakes for this to rotate the car...but the result isn't there yet. I'll upload a temporary video file to show how I usually do in a minute.

Isn't this the way to drive a rally car? I don't really know any other way to drive a 4WD.:odd: I have low consistency lapping due to this style. I just try to swing the bloody thing.

Great drifting but, just tone it down a little bit, you'll be losing a bit on traction exiting corners. That should net .5 fairly easily. 👍

It does work a little for short time but after couple of laps like that tyres become like jelly and have to do a cool down lap:indiff: Or hit the restart button. I tried smoother driving like nowcontrol but the gap doesn't really gets shortened. Apart from corner entries I'm losing on every ground against his ghost specially coming out corners but the biggest loss come from the very top of the hill that sweeping right hander that's a make or break corner that one and they decided to put that annoying small sand pit on the edge they do marvelous job helping me do rage quits.:irked:

This does indeed work, I managed to get 2 seconds down from my previous time (and gold at the same time) with this trick. It's like drifiting, despite SRF being on. I'll try it again w/o SRF to see if I do any better on the really tight turns.

Yea, definitely not the fastest way around the track. Its a good smoke show for the fans, but its definitely not going to net you great lap times. Try creating a little less smoke and then you should see your lap times start to improve. 👍 Remember, its a TT and not a drift trial, you don't get any style points here.

My childhood heroes like Yuha Kankkunnen, Walter Rohrl, Carlos Sainz and bit later years, Colin McRae they all flicked their cars in such fashion I thought that was the way to go. Some of the Group B cars didn't have handbrakes (well they had but that locked all 4 wheels) so that was probably the reason they applied such style, even though they knew they were losing time? I wonder what the maximum usable slip angle of tyres in reality. GT6 have bit more or bit less than IRL?

That's the difference between tarmac and gravel, as well as the issue of turbo lag on those heavily boosted small displacement motors that benefitted immensely from maintained RPMs.

Good lord that event was truly frustrating but equally fun. I barely cracked 10k and couldn't be more satisfied.

I haven't seen anyone address this, and absent seeing a subsequent post from you proclaiming you Goldenness, I'll give it a shot:
You start your description with "top of the hill"...I don't run this track much, so that's a bit vague, but I'll start with coming out of the left-turning tunnel. You're heading for the right-hand bend that in a normal car requires maybe 90mph; if you'll be lined up to the left before this right bend you can catch the angle to maintain 100mph or better. You won't want much better, because it'll mess you up for the upcoming left bend. The exit of the right bend should leave you able to floor the accelerator through the left bend with NO worries for cutting the right shoulder too closely. If not, you're too fast in the right, or not catching the turn in angle properly. You do want the right shoulder, of course, for shooting the snake coming up. So now we're through the left bend, looking at the right-left-right snakey part going slightly uphill. I usually brake right about where the sand juts into the road from the left (well onto the uphill part) but for this car I started from the entrance to the first right jag. By the time you reach the point you have to turn right you should be down to maybe 70mph and want the car to edge out to the upper left of the corner, not hugging the inner (right) curbing. This will allow you to nail the last right section and the upcoming left bend as a nearly straight shot, carrying vastly more speed onto the Finish line stretch. Hope this helps!:gtpflag:

Thank you for your great advice I'll analyse my replay by looking at your note next time I fire up my PS3. I still didn't get gold on this event yet, improved by a tenth so I still need 0.38s or so. TBH I got slightly sick of this combo, very frustrating and a morale breaker. I'll give this a rest for a while.

My worst corners are those fast ones right after the tunnel and that right hander I talked about. Both have elevation changes and I struggle with those kind of corners, always.

I couldn't drive anything well today after this. I think you should stick with 1 type of drivetrain vehicle a day, specially if you're inflexible as I am that I couldn't quickly adapt my driving style for other cars...

YES, broke gold time (1:00.958). With DS3 (NO SRF) and only ABS set to 1. Quite a challenge for me.

Found that using handbrake (just a minimum touch) in second and third hairpin helped me alot. In other places it only slowed me down.

Will keep trying to improve this time. Didn't like this event at first but I do now, it is something different.

Good luck to everyone in improving your times.

I'm stupid, just offered to post mine up but it's PAL, and I can't record a video of it. :dunce:

GT6 replays aren't region specific, like they used to be in GT5. I wouldn't mind you posting it! Thanks!

From the perspective of an average player:

Was about half a second away from gold and could not improve. (G27, only ABS 1, used top right wheel button and O for handbrake depending on where my hands were mid-corner.)

Had no choice but to (sell my soul for credits and paint and thus) use SRF to get the now easy gold. Also around 650th ATM even though I kinda suck normally. I expect to drop drastically as more play over the Sunday in the Americas.

I checked the leader-boards and the 'only just gold' settings yesterday after my lap(s). I estimated only about 20 people tops could gold it without SRF back then.

Today I wanted to try and better my time only to get the Yellow Light of Death. So I guess it doesn't matter now that my PS3 is dead.

DAMN!!!!! :ouch::mad::banghead::irked::grumpy::indiff: :(

How long till you are able to fix/replace it?

I gotta find a heat gun before I can do anything with it. After that it probably won't take long. If the heatgun trick doesn't work though it could be months because we have some serious stuff going on in our lives right now and I simply won't have the money to get another PS3 for some time.

Anyway, good luck to everyone on getting Gold.

Sark

Well this one should be called Super Drift Time Trial Lap :D anyways my drifting skills wasn't so good and after tooooo many laps of pure madness I've done something to find peace after all I have given to this trial. I've turned on SRF :D
So after I've finished it I was having time around 1:00 on second lap and I was like this

Just went on to copy it on to a USB stick and realised I hadn't saved it. :banghead:

Sorry. :guilty:

et_
Mother of god drift machine! tis got to have over 2000 Nm of torque! 58.182 with 4 big black lines through corner 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8!

After being totally floored with the car in an application like Nordwand, I had to buy it. I'm no great technician at the wheel - in fact I'm in my novice year with GT; yet, I brought it home in 7:35 on Nurburgring - Nordschleife. And there is sooo much more time left on the track with my skillz level to date. What a kick! And, what a strange sensory deprivation...

Where's your other hand?:odd:

Took my non-SRF gold and basically shoved it with a drop of 4500 places after enabling it, so I'm disappointed with myself.

Anyway, what sort of air-speed is everyone carrying through the jump? I'm a hair under 132mph (another yard before lift-off and I'd hit it).
