TCV5 HURRY THE HELL UP thread

Edit: Cool  I got the Middle battle monster down to 1:27.878, so I managed to beat my Light Battle Monster. VTiRoj's NSX still creams 1:27.878 by several seconds, but it'll have to do.

Like some Lancer with some stickers is going to keep up with my NSX-R anyway. :sly:

What's with all these XKRs?

There's 3 in the challenge! Of course, only two are in the same class.

Perhaps I should give the big cat a shot myself.

The one I entered is an old setup I had made, but for this competition I knocked off 110hp and added a wing. Otherwise everything else is the same as the one I had in my personal garage, which is my current record holder at GVS for S3 tired cars with no downforce. (1:54.324)

As for the "battle monsters" they back up my opinion in the "cars you thought were great but turned out to be crap" thread. The S2000 is ok at best as long as you keep the rpm's in the stratosphere, the lancer just plain sucks and the skylines are even worse. Then again I don't particularly care for awd cars on pavement.

Almost wraped up with Bellomo Motorsports SPA's Middleweight, Heavyweight AND Supercar entries...They're a little bit eccentric, but i think they'll do pretty well. Expect a post either today, tonight or tomorow!

EDIT: All three of our entries are up and running in the TCv5 thread!

I've set my car up thinking the cap was 275, not 285hp. Bugger. On the other hand, I'm pretty happy with a 1:26.6 with 273 horses. I'll try to jam in a few more equines and hope it doesn't mess with the gears.

You can change it up till July 1st, ya know. :) Are you part of a garage, by the way?

Well, the idea of the BATTLE MONSTER is that it's not supposed to be tuned. It's supposed to be a car we judges drive in its default state, on S3 tires, with Aids off. I'm sure if they were tuned, they wouldn't get creamed as bad.

That being said, so far, there's only been a handful of lightweights in which I"ve managed to beat my Opera S2000 BATTLE MONSTER time. 💡

1st? I was counting on the 4th. Oh well, 3 days should be enough.

I'm not aligned with any garage, but my middleweight entry is being done in collaboration with CamryFan so should be credited to his.

Unless I'm missing something, they are tuned versions of stock rides. Thats why they are sold in the in the tuner village.

But they still can be improved upon, that's what Parnelli's getting to Adam. :) A bit of suspension and downforce tuning of the Mine's knocks off heaps of the understeer and turns it into a better animal which should be getting the times I expected (1.25's).

d24/7, damn you. The Spirra is what I was going with aswell. ;)
Now you know roj, 370hp of Spirra is coming at you from me. :P

I tried the Charger that was entered myself but knocked it back due to the laptimes not being up to spec. My substitute is a lot better and I hope someone doesn't get that one yet. :P

Supercar.....2 of you have done the XKR, I almost went the big cat route myself, but swapped at the last minute. 👍

I look forward to the Spirras. Thats one car I've yet to tame myself, so best of luck to you both! 👍

I'm 14bhp down on your Spirra Mafs, but we'll see what happens. :sly:

Actually funny thing, the NSX-R I drive myself has 370bhp too. It's been oilchanged and past the 1900mile mark. :embarrassed:

I would hope they could be improved upon.

I thought the rules were we had to drive the "battle monsters" as they came from the dealers, meaning no tweaks to downforce, suspension, etc. In other words, default settings, no aids.

That's right. Hence the times are set that way. What I was saying was if I tuned the suspension and added downforce on the Mine's, it would've made the time more competitive compared to the middleweight entries that are coming in.....most are around the 1.22-1.23 range which scores big for laptime points.

Yeah, that's what i thought too...Because even though they were bought from a dealer, the cars were SO far-removed from they're stock counteparts that they were "BATTLE MONSTERS".

I'll make no secret (not that it matters) the my lightweight will be coming "Battle Motegi" prepared. At the same time I'll make no secret that it is the hardest car in the work to improve upon.

I must take those big cats out for a spin. They have trouble on S3's with big power.

Yes, that's what I was saying on the previous page, and that's what mafs was saying too. We just weren't sure if everyone else knew this. It's not stated on the TCV5 rules page.

The BATTLE MONSTERS come with sport or semi-racing suspensions. We are NOT supposed to tune these at all...we're supposed to use default settings (except Aids off) when we judges try and get out BATTLE MONSTER comparing time. No other parts are to be added.

Mafs is the one confusing me saying stuff like:

Well he was just trying to illustrate the fact that with a bit of tuning, any BATTLE MONSTER can wind up getting better times than if it were left at default.

But we're not supposed to.....you get the point...

Making excellent progress on my heavyweight so far. Initially I was going to enter another M3, but then I thought I'd enter something a bit fun just to make it different from my current trio of lightweight hyper revvers.

Enter the '88 Supra, equipped with a stage 3 turbo. :P

Disregard this. I've gone back to the M3. It'll be the German M3 vs the British XKR's in heavyweight!

Axis vs Allies? in that case, let me remind you..

Guess what I found in less than 1 minute, my friends! Good ol' mazdaman is requesting drag racing setups for the Mazda RX-7 he wanted to race against Rotary Junkie not long ago, from Mad Finn Tuners. Now that's what I call humilliation.

VTiRoj, let's see if your NSX can compete against the Corvette :mischievous:

I noticed that too, and I told him that we concentrate on track setups.

I will enter my heavyweight setup soon. Expect yet another supercharged monster.. :mischievous:

no, 350Z.. better known as MFT 486Z SC.. detuned it, added ballast, and made it work on S3's.. damn I'm good.
