The 20 tracks issue is really bugging me

Ok, this is pretty "out there", but this thought occurred to me when I was watching the E3 trailer for what must be the millionth time.

What if, when Kazunori was referring to "locations", he means actual towns, like the one featured in the E3 video. At 0:18 in the video below, a Citroen C4 and an Alfa 147 are seen driving around the town. Could this be hinting at what is to come for everyone else? Later on in the video, the folks of the town are looking out, as a load of SuperGT cars converge in the town square. This could mean that race meets will be organised in towns like this, or the towns may act as an online "hub" where everyone meets and drives around. Towns could also feature things like tuning shops and car garages, relative to the country you are in. We also see rally Toscana starting in the town, so perhaps you will be able to enter events from these places?

I don't know, it's a very outside guess, but an interesting thought. It would certainly make a good replacement for the world map, and it would explain why Kazunori never says "tracks" and always "locations" and "variations". It would seem a shame to waste all that development time on just a trailer, so perhaps the images of towns we keep seeing will be a part of the game? Maybe we could get our cars fixed there if we damaged them during a race? Who knows, I probably wouldn't have said this, but the Alfa and Citroen sort of clinched it for me :sly:. Speculate at your leisure.

It might be true, and if it, is it certainly will be amazing:), but you just never know. Nice thought though, good to see someone with a creative mind 👍.

etc...
Merged into existing thread.

I've mentioned something a bit similar some time ago in a different thread, having parts of a town as the basis for track editor whereby you could put barriers across pre-existing roads to create a track and the possible option of some sort of free roam function as an online meeting point.

The suggestion of GT-worldmap being replaced by an actual 3D environment i find intriguing and although purely speculative ofcourse it does sound plausible and not that far out, i can see PD actually contemplating or even creating this kind of innovative 3D environment.

Think the inclusion of tuning shops, garages and carwash, etc. all within one town where you would actually have to drive to is something i would really welcome, giving some more focus on the driving aspects instead of just lapping tracks and racing ( which should remain the core of the game btw ).
It does make a lot of sense although not everyone is going to feel the same about this, and it is still for now just an idea, although IMO a very good one.:)

That idea sounds great but I' d also like the inclusion of race suit shops and helmet shops, so you can customize what you look like in an intresting way :)

i need a awesome car (in gt5 are much of them XD ) and only 1 track
nordschleife
they can delete the 19 other tracks

ps:the information that gt will have 20 tracks is very old ,we will see it

One track seriously? I know thats one hell of a track but come on, I'd get bored of that pretty quickly.

I don't know what 20 locations is referring to but if it means there will only be 20 tracks plus their respective variants then that is not enough for me. Double that and I'd be happier.

Weren't most of the tracks in previous GT's just different versions. Like for example, Suzuka + West+ East = 1 track but in theory it counts as 3, Twin Motegi+ Short Version + Oval Speedway, I can see the same thing happening with Indy. But either way 20 does seem a bit short, I mean if they do include a few rally tracks, ALOT will be cut from GT4, I fear a GT3 in terms of tracks.

GPR XD yeah you are right

i dont understand why some people make a big deal about it
nordschleife+le man+laguna seca is enough for me (+all GT4 tracks +new tracks(the information that gt will have 20 tracks is very old) +i think gt will make updates with new tracks +maybe track editor

+night racing
+Weather changing

There were 40 total tracks in GT4, 40 distinct tracks, not counting variations or reversed versions. And of that 40, 8 were real circuits, 9 if you count Monaco, but it's more a temporary city track. Off course some of these were rally tracks

There is no way GT5 will have 20+ tracks and 70 variations in the literal sense. The numbers don't add up. Some of the tracks that we know are in GT5 for sure, don't even have more than 2 variations

It's obviously an error in translation

It just may well be 70 total tracks, not counting variations....

Certinally hope its that way, can you imagine the bashing reviewers would do if a game that took 6 years to make only had 20 locations :nervous::ill::guilty:💡:scared:

That would just mean the game is perfect. Also, assuming that there are 70 different tracks, would mean more than 100 variations, ammo for marketing the game. ;)

As you said, GT4 has 40 distinct tracks, to reach 70 distinct tracks we would need 30 "new" tracks. Counting that Complex String, Grindelwald, Red Rock Valley, SSR11, Rome Circuit, Rome Night and Motor Sports Land, Pikes Peak and Tahiti Road weren't in GT4 (Maybe I'm forgetting some track), there's room for 22 more. Daytona, Eiger, Indy, London, Madri, Dunsfold, Tuscany and Mountain Road ( Stelvio wannabe) and Rome New add 9 more, there's room for 13 more, it's possible, and likely, they can't race nascar in just 3 ovals ( Motegi Super, Indy and Daytona ), it would be a boring and limited championship. At least a couple of ovals we will get.

I've always wished that there could be a huge free roam area with all the tuning garages dealers(like tdu)etc, even photo locations you could drive to, that would be immense, I hope this is one id the reasons why its taking so long.

GT4 had 6 locations iirc. It's the same method. They'll probably be something like:

NASCAR
Dirt/Gravel
Original
World
Test

etc

I hope they dont just release with 20 and hold a load of tracks back to then sell as DLC.

Kaz has mentioned about DLC a few times. I don't mind paying for it a while down the line. But I get annoyed when DLC and stuff is announced before the game is even released.

One of Amar's winds mentioned about 2 versions of the game if I remember.

The only thing Kaz has ever said about DLC is that GT5 has none planned because they like to release complete games. They would never hold anything back and if the game did see DLC, I suspect that it would be free (much like the GT5P DLC that added a new track and cars).

i would love it if they implemented a cruze round the world idea like nfs but without the police

But gt5 has 20 locations and you only mentioned 6

Thus the etc, I was doing it off the top of my head going from what we know of previous versions of the series. They might expand it to areas like: Street, Oval, etc. Who knows, but we do know that the locations is a part of the GT franchise and it won't be 20 tracks.

Yeah it's hard to tell really what they mean by 'locations'. It could mean the tracks themselves, like Suzuka counts as a track and then there are different variations. Or a country could count as a location, eg Japan, UK, etc. Or as said above it could be to do with the types of the tracks such as rallying or street circuits. But until they give us more information we won't know.
