The 20 tracks issue is really bugging me

I hope its more than 20 tracks because that is no where near enough. Anyway I doubt its just 20 tracks because how could you get 70 variations out of 20? That would mean 3(3.5 technically) variations per track if it were spaced out evenly. Some tracks don't have that many. Some only have 1. So some tracks will end up having 4 or 5 variations. Or maybe more. How many tracks have that many variations? This is why I think there will be more than 20. Not only because that is absurdly low amount.

Look at the Track List stickied in this forum. I've had plenty of fun with 6 (12) tracks in Prologue, so the 16 (35-36) tracks confirmed, plus many that are pretty much bound to be in (Motegi, Deep Forest, etc.) will be plenty. I won't mind relatively few tracks when there's 1000 Bloody Cars!

Honestly, this forum is so frustrating right now with all the negative threads. We've got amazing news and all you guys can focus on is the negative. Gran Turismo 5 won't be perfect, but it will be the most amazing racing game ever. Then GT6 on the PS4 will give us perfection.

The funny thing is people have different opinions on this and mine is about as opposite to yours as it's possible to get. Given a choice of a game with 1000 cars and 70 tracks or a game with 70 cars and 1000 tracks, I'd buy the game with 1000 tracks every single time.

Well then perhaps you should get Forza. It's got less then half the cars of GT5 but many more tracks.

I own Forza 3 and I can tell you their circuit count is massively inflated by alternate versions and reverse. Some circuits are cut into several point to point races which are counted, as well as their reverse versions. The actual track count is in the low 20's I think.

Yeah, i've got to say i was pretty disappointed when i picked up Forza 3 because of that... Gran Turismo 5 may even have more tracks (considering it's at least 20). Adding to that, nearly half of the Forza 3 tracks still aren't any fun, but at least it's better than Forza 2.

I'm not going to complain, I have waited long enough for GT5 to be released but I thought it would have had the major tracks of the world at the very least.

Where is Spa? Laguna Seca? I would have liked some of the F1 circuits as well and even a few more NASCAR tracks. I like the idea of 1,000 cars too but at the end of the day you can only race one car at a time and 20 tracks seems like far too little for such a "game changing" title. Just my 2 cents...

I JUST NOTICED SOMTIN'!!!!!!! Remember those Nurburgring Demo vids back a month ago!!! Remember under the track it listed PREMIUM! I think that all the old tracks from GT4 will be put into GT5 and the 20 "New Tracks" will just be the new redisigned models! So what we have seen so far were 20 NEW tracks and the rest will be GT4 quality (a little cleaned up maybe). So all of our favorite tracks, Deep Forrest, trial mountain, etc. will be in the game only not the quality of the new tracks! I hope this is whats going on because I want those old tracks no matter the quality!

I'm the total opposite. You might be happpy with a handful of unique tracks and 1000 cars, but if I were to have the option, I take a handful of cars and 1000 unique tracks any day of the week. I don't think I've ever had more than 50 cars in my GT garage at any point in time, and of those, usually only race a small number of my favourites. For me, the real variety comes in the tracks you race on.

@Tompie913, you fell flat on your face there eh?!

I do agree sort of. I mean, who really uses the Yaris and the Cube :yuck:.

I still am confident there will be 50+ tracks in the game atleast tho. Long as trial mountain is there I really don't care :P.

Yep, GT's car count is massively inflated by useless, 30hp POS cars and Skyline clones.
I'd rather have 100 tracks and only 4-500 premium cars that are actually useful for racing.
Most of the cars in GT4 would just take up garage space after you finished the corresponding races anyway.

Given that Polyphony have a tendency to follow reactions on blogs and forums, I wouldn't be too surprised if they dropped the Skyline clones in favour of a more diverse range of cars, especially European brands.

Just imagine if engine swap or some heavy tuning will be possible. That poor Cube..

I hope they improve every circuit they put into the real game... a GT4ish Laguna Seca would be horrible to see in 1080p, a revamped one (such as Suzuka/Fuji) is something I am really looking forward to

Just 20 tracks is verging on unnaceptable. They should have every track from all the previous games and a few new real ones and fictionals.

U guys really need an update. Please add this to first post so that other people are not confused :

How many maps will there actually be? I mean if they have spent all their time on 1000 cars, it doesn’t’ amount to anything if you only have a handful of tracks to use them on…

More than 40 tracks with over 100 layouts (including all versions of Nurburgring – which nobody’s ever done before). That enough for you? :)

The big announcement about the track editor etc. used the following:

Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations,

Hopefully makes the 20 tracks even less likely if it's somehow more comprehensive than before, surely it couldn't have less tracks?

I suppose if we do get a track editor then who cares anyway? 👍

On www.Gran-Turismo.com it says clearly 20 locations & 70 variations :).Not 20 tracks. We don't have a confirmed amount of tracks yet, except the amount of variations of different tracks.Of all the real tracks, how many have different variations ?.

Donnington 1
Brands Hatch 1
Indianapolis 1

And many many many more .

That's not including tracks that don't have variations, this could be an incredible amount of tarmac to race on :drool::drool:👍.
