The Epic GT6 Thread (No Whining or Crying)

TBH, even if there's standards; I bet there won't be as much as the previous GT title. PD could have easily managed to make a lot of the better standard cars into premiums. I won't care if there's some standards still left if they're just a bunch of duplicates.

You think they're going to remove standards that they've made into premiums?

Fat chance, they've already shown that they'll do whatever possible to pad the car count.

Other games dont sell 10 million.

Yeah because sales void any argument right? COD sells 25 million, Mcdonalds sells a tonne of burgers, Justin beiber sells a lot of music.,.......... Popular does not equal quality.

Other less popular games have better features then GT has had for years.

COD has to appeal to everyone, leaving features and gameplay elements from other games (or even its older versions) that would make it objectively a better game for people that are experienced in fps'. Same goes to mcdonalds, bieber, etc.

That means the GT series simply cannot have GTR2's AI, since 1% of players would cope with that.

Yup, I do indeed think that. Lets just say I'm trying to stay positive until E3. PD hasn't revealed everything about GT6 yet. They only said that the cars would be mostly GT5's car list, they didn't say that they would be the same car quality as in GT5.

Excatly, why can't people understand this grrr! So annoying...

Gran Turismo needs to be fun again. People are saying that GT is trying a bit too hard o be a true to life simulator, and although it's always nice to have a kick butt physics engine, they should not forget that they are making a game with this engine. Games are supposed to be thrilling. Maybe the reason why I loved GT3 and older sequels was because it was so addicting and mindlessly fun. Throwing your car around bends with the great sense of speed, while being chased by hungry Skylines, RX-7s, Vipers, and Corvettes gave me an adrenaline rush. Even though they were quite stupid drivers, they were fast.

In GT5, I didn't feel the excitement in the A-Spec mode. It's as if all the fun were to be sucked in by a vaccum. The AI was slow, the sense of speed was gone, and the events weren't good enough. Another reason why I found GT3 to be so enjoyable was the sheer amounts of challenging events to enter. GT5 had some of those events, but the fast and furious vibe was gone, and the rush was no more. Even though I found GT5 to be quite addicting, it just wasn't the same.

GT6 needs to evolve in some shape, form, or matter. Make the career mode great as possible, while balancing with the new realistic factor. Bump up the AI, and make them smart AND fast. Bring back old, defining elements, while introducing brand spanking new features to further evolve gameplay. New cars, tracks, and graphics engine may be nice, but what is it without an actual game? :)

So how do you expect them to look then? Up to par with premiums? If so, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Expecting 1200 cars to be all the same quality in 3 years is unreasonable. The most I expect is the gap between standards and premiums to be shorter, but NOT closed. There has to be inconsistencies of some kind.

You want to know my actual expectations? Alright; I expect to see at least 450 premium cars. With PD having nearly 3 years of developement should be enough time for their employees to render at least 150 cars on top of the premiums that were in GT5. The most amount of premiums I expect, around 700. Yes, I know that's unrealistic.

Excatly, why can't people understand this grrr! So annoying...

I don't know either Toko, I guess it's because people were so disappointed with the current GT out, that some of them just have a negative outlook on the series or just gave up hope all together.

Define faster AI. Because there are already online challenges that showcase a pretty competitive AI. It's not implemented because it becomes too difficult for the average Joe to race against.

The AI in the online challenges are no more competitive than A-Spec AI, they just start 30+ seconds down the road. It's still a breeze to overtake them once you catch them.

The idea that they haven't implemented anything better because it'd be too hard is ridiculous, any game developer is capable of integrating difficulty levels. Once you have the "best" AI it's pretty simple to tone them down at various levels. Just look at any PC sim with multiple sliders for AI. You can't turn them up if they're already at the max though, and that's the issue with GT5 AI.

yep this is a major fail in gt 5, the racing is dull boring, and zero challenge. Also you can smash into cars and walls without repercussion in gt5.

It's not racing against other cars which is the problem. All of GT5 career racing is Overtake Challenges.

"Players can create their own personalised custom car in the game."

Wow, awesomely specific there. That would suggest to me there's no fully fledged livery editor. Probably something that might fit a custom template though, if indeed it was talking about the visuals. What does everyone else make of it?

Several thousand parts just blows my mind.

I want to know more about being able to create your own personalized car in the game because that just sounds epic. :)

That GPS feature sounds very interesting.
I'm really hoping for a livery editor too but "personilised custom car" could mean anything. If you put just a wing on the car it could be called a personilised custom car.
I guess I'll wait for ordan's Q&A with Kaz. Or E3. Or gamescon.

I can see it now.

I thought it was great until it dawned on me that with 1200 cars you only need an average of two aero parts for each one and that's already 2400, or "several thousand" as they put it. Hopefully it is more than that but I'm not setting myself up for disappointment again. I shall expect the minimum and hope for more.

Actually, in terms of wings, they are probably going to take a more modular approach. Think how the of the Standards (and in GT4) had the 3 different wing designs, and multiply that a thousand fold. Not literally, obviously, but in concept that's probably how they will do it. Hopefully with some options in terms of size and placement, like in that crappy NFS game from a few years ago (I think it was Pro Street?).

Actually I would oddly enough like that in any driving game. Of course, I guess a livery editor would be better since you could just make your own license plate.

I finde it a bit funny that the whine-thread has nearly 450 replies, and this has 53 :-D why are people always so "the cup is half empty"?

But anyway. I'm really looking forward to GT6. After the ps4 was officially revealed I figured we wouldn't see any more GT on ps3, and that we would have to wait and wait and wait for the next game to be released on PS4... Like we did with gt5 on ps3. I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas this year :-)

I'd actually like to have this. I'm not even kidding.

Atleast thats what we hope for. If its true GT6 could one up Forza. I can see online play being more enjoyable since you would be able to other players designs.

How is it "one-upping" a franchise that's had that sort of thing for years before GT?

I think you mean "finally match".

I agree with you, but having sliders is pointless if you can't get a good AI system. Look at rFactor or Live for Speed for example. The sliders are there, one to tune AI aggression, and other to tune AI speed, but the general AI is terrible on these games.

I think the next GT will be a lot more enjoyable if PD can put a polished AI system, on par with GTR2 in example. After all, a lot of people buy a racing game to compete against AI, not to race alone and be delighted by how realistic is the tire model.

IMO, I prefer a game which is well balanced (AI, physics, tire model, force feedback feel) rather than a game which is the best at one item but lacks at the others.

For GT6, I really hope they can improve a lot on AI, tune up the physics and tire model and bring us a well polished A-Spec series.
