The February update discussion

I think the Lotus is unlikely since they dropped the other Lotus cars which were in the beta and which I got to drive at Copper Box (my guess would be a license issue as I think Lotus changed ownership?)

Can I make a wild guess which of those 2 cars you would prefer...? :sly:

And finally ... There has NEVER EVER EVER been an official comment regarding ANY update in February. EVER. All that was said was "around 50 cars up to the end of March". We have had 25 to now. Every single other comment is speculation, albeit based on December and January updates. Nothing is late. Nothing is announced except for around 25 cars up to the end of March. That is it.

Sorry if that sounds like a rant, but people are assuming and we know what that makes out of u and me when you assume :P. Thank you.

Just checked the announcement from November and you are right! It just says 50 cars by March, nothing about 'monthly' updates. I had it in my mind it was official!! Yet another case of the Mandela Effect!!

Anyone else wonders why we dont get new helmets/racesuits? At the beginning, i thought that by now we would have 50 different helmet/racesuit designs, but no... 4 of each and they all look the same...

Yeah I have a thing for helmets and I've been wondering about that since day 1, why only 2 types of helmets... Cmon PD give us something to work with, I mean adding few more helmets doesn't seem like a complicated job.

Was wondering if we get some new cars that will be revealed at the Geneva Motorshow beginning March? Could be a nice oppertunity for the some brands to promoto their new models into the virtual world.

Come to think of it, they could save the update until then. Remember that Toyota is unveiling their new sports car (presumably called the "Supra"), and given they've refused to let any of their road cars appear in recent racing games (set aside GT), we'll probably end up getting this car in an update.

But that Sport concept on teaser no doubt is FT1 GR3 for me

I disagree it’s only Feb 20th, still plenty of time to announce an update.

Except that...

It's now Wednesday the 21st. It isn't happening. We got our update and that's that.

Still fairly early, it'll be revealed at the weekend and come Next wednesday, not Friday as it's the 2nd of March? It'll be this month

With the likely arrival of the NSX and the new Totyota Supra, it is possible for DP to bring in another Honda circuit (Motegi) or bring Toytota (Fuji) circuit.

I thought it was au rouge too, till I saw it written on the alonso video, I reckon the prefixed E is for the childish noise to make in mind while driving through it

It’s weird, I’ve watched F1 since I was a kid & I always thought it was “Au Rouge”.

It's possible that they could do an update with no preview/warning, or maybe they're pushing it back to time it with Geneva.

I've always wondered if PD would be able to get close enough to auto brands to do DLC around auto shows, effectively giving content "hot off the press". They've already done it for individual cars/reveals like the R35, GT-86, and C7, giving us full production models, and (with varying timeframes) we've gotten the GT-86, NSX, FT-1, SF-R and (technically speaking) Bugatti Chiron prototypes. It'd be insane to get a blowout of brand new cars basically day-of reveal/launch.

Sometimes I get the impression that GTS really is a game "hole cap". A transitional game! A temporary game! A prologue!

The reason I think about this is that the updates seem to be made sloppily.

It is strange to update the game with Monza, Kyoto and variants, and these tracks are not included in the CIRCUIT CHALLENGE.

It seems like a lazy and sloppy job!

Of course, in addition to the limited number of circuits. GTS, IMO, has the worst cast of tracks in the franchise!

Very much agree. Circuit Challenge (when people use it) increases the ability for people to race cleanly in Sport mode by providing a base level of knowledge about the track's braking points and approaches. It's helped me quite a bit when tackling a new circuit. It makes no sense to spend all that time on the launch tracks and then just abandon the feature completely. It makes it feel like what we got in GTS was just a random collection of features that lack a coherent vision.

Yup. I don't care what Kaz says, this game was intended to be a prologue. They've just jammed extra into this prologue, and in a "sloppy" manner as you say.

Until I see a press release with a release date, I am not believing there is anymore content coming.

Au Rouge = "to the red"

Eau Rouge = "red water"

Å, rouge... = what a Swede says when you give him/her some makeup for Christmas.

But we know there is more content coming. Another 25 by March!

It’s too easy of an excuse for them to say this is a prologue. I would have accepted it if the game came out a few months after the new console was released.

I am sure that if Forza was available on PS4 now we would have the full and complete game by some time.

But as things stand they can get away with this quasi monopoly on console.

We're getting a few more cars, yes. Beyond that though? And what cars are we getting? 90%, if not all, are the cars that I paid for in GT5 and GT6. (They are...tell me all you want that they are new, but they are just updated a little. They are not entirely new car models).

Have a look at GT5 and GT6. Catalogue all the features those games have.

Then think about what they shipped in GTS.

GTS isn't available on Xbox and it doesn't cause MS to put a halfhearted effort into Forza.

You don’t care about what he says, but you’re waiting his press conference... about something he already did one? There’s more content coming. That was stated months ago.

No, I'm not waiting and there wasn't a press conference, there was a press release.

So, they'll give us 24 cars that we have come to know over the past 10 years, with maybe 1 or 2 new ones...maybe.

AND THEN WHAT? Where is Le Mans? Where is Daytona? Where is the JGTC? What happened to NASCAR? Where is the Isle of Mann? Where is Pike's Peak? Where are all the SEMA cars that were supposed to be in "a future release of Gran Turismo"

And the FIA races we have now? Is THIS what any of us envisioned would be the end result of an FIA license? I don't know about you, but I expected a Blancpain series or some such thing, like Assetto Corsa is delivering. I didn't expect a random daily race. I didn't expect some under funded developer from Italy to upstage a Sony Internal developer on what is supposed to be a killer app for Sony's console.

Wow dude. I hope you get what you want. I’ll cheer for you.

You do realize that most of that is just what came in the last game, correct? That's not even new stuff

Sure! Every franchise is essentially the same game with minor improvements. I prefer this one to every other GT I’ve ever played though. I know the other developers are impressive and all... their physics, right? But hey... I don’t think improving physics should count towards being revolutionary. Different games with slightly different flavours to it.

But they aren't being revolutionary either. Don't get me wrong. I like the way GTS drive. GT has always delivered on that front.

But as a first party game, this game has not delivered on content.
