The February update discussion

No, I'm not waiting and there wasn't a press conference, there was a press release.

So, they'll give us 24 cars that we have come to know over the past 10 years, with maybe 1 or 2 new ones...maybe.

AND THEN WHAT? Where is Le Mans? Where is Daytona? Where is the JGTC? What happened to NASCAR? Where is the Isle of Mann? Where is Pike's Peak? Where are all the SEMA cars that were supposed to be in "a future release of Gran Turismo"

And the FIA races we have now? Is THIS what any of us envisioned would be the end result of an FIA license? I don't know about you, but I expected a Blancpain series or some such thing, like Assetto Corsa is delivering. I didn't expect a random daily race. I didn't expect some under funded developer from Italy to upstage a Sony Internal developer on what is supposed to be a killer app for Sony's console.

Forza also had cars in previous games that were cut from newer instalments.

Also, the cars received more than just a minor update. Maybe the difference is not that big for some models but that's because they were already petty good in GT6. Even with that, all GT6 cars received a big update for the interior.

GT is much more forgiving, in other games mentioned you have to be on top of your game just to stay on track, and when you're going for proper lap times they are much more involving. Over simplified setups don't help its case either.

Yeah , I don't think GT or Forza REMOTELY resemble arcade racers.

Me neither. I think designing simulations is like science. You have to define a model. A simplification that makes sense, that represents something. They all do that in my opinion. They have differences in how they understand certain aspects, but they’re all pretty good representations of the real world. Every time I see someone looking down GT or Forza, because they dont have the real world physics that PCars or AC have, I picture a real world competition driver on the other end of the spectrum saying something like:
Sure, pal, now seat here in this 900 HP beast and drive for 2 hours... then you come back and tell me that AC is closer to reality than GT to AC.

Updates always follow a maintenance cycle. So because we haven't had any prior notice of yet as is per usual, i don't see anything coming this week.

We haven't had any notice today for Friday. I don't see Kaz just dropping an update on us on Friday. It doesn't feel right. There are strict and structured methods, guidelines to follow for tasks of these kinds of mass rollouts.

If anything we will probably get an update very early March as there is no more Friday of this month to release anything. If i am wrong of course i will eat my words.

Hah ha ha, you're kidding right? There is no structured methods nor are they strict. PD does whatever PD wants. In fact, Kaz just says stuff whenever he wants to tell us of anything.

the month is not over yet, they could simply give us a notice the day before the update, no problem with that

i dont really see a reason for them to not drop an update this month unless they havent finished the cars yet, or... a big update, like gr2 and weather, who knows...

I, personally, am glad I traded in my copy of GTS yesterday. Just wasn't enjoying it anymore. I think I just over did it and played all the GTs too much. The fun was gone so I had to move on. I've loved the series for years and years but it was just time for me to move on. I hope the next GT can pull me back but I seriously doubt it. I just don't enjoy collecting paint chips and rims anymore. I'm hoping for some major changes in the next 3 or 4 years.

GTS is the major change GT needed. If you already sold off your game, what are you still doing here?

Just confirming that there wouldn't be an update this month and reading what is being said. Is that a crime? Am I not allowed now that I've traded in my copy?

I think they've done a fine job of adding cars since launch (wouldn't complain about more), but I'm ready for more tracks - real world tracks.

My top 3 wants:

1. Fuji
2. Spa
3. Laguna Seca
I want those as well except in the reverse order.

A few cars did not get interior updates , well not mesh wise . The textures were updated but not the actual poly model .

Can't sum up things better than you said. My last big GT crush was GT3, I was younger and had more free time. I had prologue and GT6, I may have play all of them less than 10 hours (I admit I never tried online on GT6 though)... The classic GT routine wasn't working anymore on me. GTS online racing is so much more appealing to me. I have the game since mid december, and I play almost everyday ! Back in the GT1 days, my favorite car mod was the race transformation, to have beautiful liveries on standard cars. Now we have a livery editor and community that share some nice work, I couldn't be more happy :P

About the update contents, I realize that I still don't know well all the tracks. And I may have 69 cars (50 daily rewards), but I've only drive like 20 of them ! So I can't sincerely complain. Yet, any content will be a super good news (I've been really glad to have Monza in the last one :D )

If I had my way the next update would include...

Tracks:
Tsukuba Circuit
Spa

Cars:
F355 Berlinetta and/or Challenge
Ferrari 488 GTB
Porsche 911 GT2 RS
Porsche 911 GT1 (993)
Porsche 918 Spyder
Porsche 911 turbo (930)
Subaru WRX 22B STi
Mazda RX-8
Mazda 787B
Nissan Nismo 370Z
McLaren 570s
McLaren 720s
Honda NSX (90’s/pre-ugly 2002 model)
Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R
And the Ferrari 312PB
