Guys, we keep forgetting one thing in this equation - TT practice times, which lead to initial matching along the DR and SR groups. There must be something in it - some may think they won't do practice laps to get easier room to race, yet them get less points for that. I would like to see some sort of consistency constant added up to the points equation. Anyways, we will be smarter after official statement from FIA and/or PD, who should explain us the point rules before initial champs start at April '18.

OMFG! The oval race... Qualified 1st, ended up 7th. Was 16th at one point. Absolute carnage. Gave up trying to be aware and just pinned it for the last 10 laps. Went from SR C to E and DR B to C. No awareness in my race. Rammed on 1st corner by 3rd place driver, 10s penalty??? How? I was in front! Rammed into wall repeatedly. Rammed from behind on the tight corner nearly every lap. Slammed when slipstreaming past a slower driver and troll braked on the banked turn. Never again. Just took me 2hrs to get back to B B!
Get your SR to S son, I completely understand the carnage with SR C.

I did at least 5 practice laps yesterday and today. Did not affect my points in a positive manner. Or the people I was matched with.
As you said, an official explaination of the point system would be nice.

I don't think it is the number of practice laps, it is how fast you are. As I said, I ended up in the first Nations Cup race with half of the Top 10 field, simply because I was close enough to their times despite being a B rated Driver. And I got a huge points haul for being9 9th at the finish. So it seems the points are weighted by the strength of your room.

I would like to know how the point system works. I don't have much time to race. So I'm only a c/s rating but ran 1:44.6 in gt nations yesterday for qualifing and got 3rd and finished the race second place but only received 262 points.

I know I was just saying.
It still confuses and kinda annoys me the points system favours the faster players. A lot of players, myself included, will never have a chance at getting useful points if this continues.
I want a realistic scoreboard!

1:44.6 was a solid time, i had 1:46.3 i think as a Q for P8, R8 aswell. Practice time was i think 1:46.5 and got 69 points, with SR S and DR still D. To many premisses involved in the calculation

Just wont a Nations Cup race at Blue Moon Bay. I gained 1455 points for the victory, with a total race time of 17:59. I'm curious if the race time or the strength of the competitors is the points factor (I had person with the second fastest practice time in my group).

Well after talking to z28 it's your driver rating and tear you race against with. Seems like the higher your driver rating the better score you get. The guys that race doodle windfire and so on will get a much higher score. Kind of bumped about that. I was a b/s but did a sport race yesterday and my internet dropped. Knocking my Dr b rating down to a starting c. Guess I'll race more sport races and really get my Dr rating up there

I know I was just saying.

I totally agree with you on that. Because the best driver will never get worse enough to loose. They should decide it by atleast driver rating

Qualifying Position - Finishing Position
Manufacturer Q2 , P3 , Fastest lap.
Nations (Not in the VW GTI VGT) Q2 , P1

For now I only did the Manufacturer's races.

Race 1 on Suzuka
All 20 opponents were DR (E) SR (B) like me.
Qualifying 7th, finishing 5th, I got 78 points.

Race 2 on Interlagos
19 opponents from DR (A) to (D), SR from (S) to (C)
Qualifying 14th, finishing 13th, I got 136 points.

I didn't even try the Blue Moon Bay race, I knew it would be a mess.
As I don't like Brands Hatch that much, I might give the Dragon Trail Nation Cup event a try tonight. Do we need to buy the car or is it lent by the game ?

I just got a chance to play Interlagos today, i qualified 14th because i was so nervous lol, played a clean race and finished 6th with a penalty because some idiot T boned me and i got a bigger penalty than him (???).

Everyone had an sr and dr of around C/C C/B and I ended up with about 295 points i believe.

Seriously though **** penalties when you are being rammed.

Does anyone else in Australia always seem to get punted off the track by Japanese ****holes? Unbelievably frustrating

For the manufacturer cup the team you signed up for lends the cars. For the nation's cup its a car from your own garage

Thanks. I knew for the previous ones, but as today's event is a monotype race, I was wondering if the car was imposed like in the Daily races.

and @Cytoria
Seems the game will lend you the car for the Nations Cup, as I don't own this AM and yet i can attend the free practice. ^^ Btw, 32 different colors for this one - will be rainbow-ish race rooms today

Point system is glitched.

One guy as D and S got 78 Points for a win and i got 23.

Another guy D and S,got 100 odd points for finishing 7th.

Hows its possible. Both same ratings,so paired with same level guys and different Point allotment? Doesn't make sense.

If they are Considering race finish time, then thats stupid as it depends on various scenarios in a race.

Simply don't understand the system.

It is a Test season, everything needs to be tested, remastered and set the proper way. This I think is why we didn't get any official statment about pointing till now. We need to be patient about this, it is a game, not a real life deal, so have fun and drive safe. ^^

It’s a game alright - with real life rewards. I want a small trophy when the first season kicks off in April. Even if it’s a small «paper trophy» just for participaton. It would mean the world to me to get something, as a way of honoring my dad other than just playing. I want something on the shelf to be proud over. :)

Yup, you're right and I'm sure they address the issue with category. because it wouldn' be fair to others if the top 10 always win prices and not anyone else. saftey rating is earned way to easy in my opinion and if you an s you can ram a whole race knock it down and a few clean ones will bring it back up. those guys ruin the race for everyone else. that definitely needs to be looked at

We should have separate rankimgs based on dr..something like tiers...every championship has one. F1 rankings does not include thw guys from f3 and so on. But pd try to make this as arcade as they could

Agreed bro. But we also need to raise these issues to be fixed when the real thing comes.

You are right guys, and we are part of the testing aswell, Even I want to get some reward, even i know my skills are not as good to achieve something like that. By "It's a game" i meant current status, not yet racing for anything - that will change in April and I hopefully get my G29 with a wheel stand to be more competitive, because by now, love and hate motion controling with DS4 at the same time :D - love that it's more precise than stick steering, yet more challenging not to roll myself in chair in atempt to steer into corners. :D

All right, in the end i hope and really believe that PD and FIA will tweak all the rules and issues in time to get better time racing for real. ^^

From what I can gather thus far, the game isn't using Driver Rating or Sportsmanship Rating to create groups, nor do they have any determination on points. It is simply going off of the practice times. It takes the Top 20 fastest practice times who enter that particular race of the five, then the next 20, then the next 20, and so on. The reason people aren't realizing this is that when you are entered in a group, unlike the Daily Races, it does not display your practice times, everyone is blank as they have yet to set a qualifying time. It then ranks each group from 1st to whatever the last group is, and it then adds weight to each group's points.

So you can be an S/S rated driver and end up with a C/B driver in your group if that driver lays down a practice lap similar to your own. As for ending up with dirty drivers in your group, that is down to the fact that those people may be able to set a fast lap when they're by themselves, but have no race craft and an inability to make good passes. And since everyone should theoretically be on equal footing as they were all from the same practice times, it may be difficult to pass someone who has the same lapping skill as you do.

Anyone else was unable to connect to the races today? I tested my connection with the PlayStation network test and my connection out was fine, but I got a network error every time I tried to race.

Not sure, if this is how it works. I was able to do 3 out of 6 Cup races and all three i had to drive against guys with exactly same ratings (D/S) as me.

Short from my races today - first i attended the Manu Cup, and was scared at first of the Brands Hatch circuit, but i had a good time racing there today, as my GT-R was really stable. Q4, missed brake point in turn 4, where Indy and GP layouts go apart and lost 3 places, till finish i gained them 3 places back, mostly due to mistakes of other drivers. Got 60 points.

Nations Cup with AM was a hard race for me, as i really dont like this reverse layout. Anyway, got Q6 after mostly offroady practice sessions, so I was happy with that. After start i lost 2 places, gained one back in 2nd lap when one driver went off the track, then got a hit in chicane before last corner, got only orange SR down and lost my place, no penalty. Till the end i gained my lost places back again due others mistakes, so after Q6 / P6 i can be happy, got 94 points for this one.

Anyone else was unable to connect to the races today? I tested my connection with the PlayStation network test and my connection out was fine, but I got a network error every time I tried to race.
no problem for me

Make of this what you will.

RD 3 of Nations Cup tonight as we know.

Driver rating D, SR B

Qualified P1, fastest lap in the race, and finished P1.

22 points!!!!!

Yesterday I was DR D and SR E (late starter) and got 90 points for p12??

Frustrating.

Quick question: Is there a way to check how many people are competing in the tournaments? I know Sport Mode states your own overall ranking in the championships standings section, but I would like to see how many people are competing in GT Sport. For example, based on what I saw last night, I am 17 out of 66 in comparison to everyone else who is using Mazda in the Manufacturer's Cup, but I was only able to get the overall Mazda users after scrolling through to the last page. I would like to know if there is a quicker way or if it is even possible. Thanks!

Today was frustrating to say the least.

Anyway, updated OP with tomorrows events. Weird, since tomorrow was going to be off, starting again on wednesday. Seems like they changed it.

That Vantage boat with SH tires.. Never again :ill:

And the Blue Moon Bay race from yesterday... Not a single good thing to remember.

The other races have been great fun though. Especially Gr.4 cars are so fun to race with a controller.
