Here is my experience with matchmaking:
For me it looks like it does not depend on your driver rating.
I think it depends on the results a few races before.
A few very bad races and you will race against slower people with a lower rank.

That Vantage boat with SH tires.. Never again :ill:

And the Blue Moon Bay race from yesterday... Not a single good thing to remember.

The other races have been great fun though. Especially Gr.4 cars are so fun to race with a controller.
That's why I even bothered with it

After 3 days I have to say, I like this FIA test races.... Dr C and Sr S.... First day the server kicked me out, I got 0 point. Ok no problem, go ahead...
Second day, I had 2 incredible races, with normal guys S sr... That was great! Bravo, I got, what I was waiting for wow.
Today.... Gr4 race ... A good race circuit, great cars, and no fear.... flat out... and? An Idiot... who doesn’t car others, who was getting a lap at 3lap in the race, and who made accidents with a few guys... He just killed our race with Sr S!!! He pushed out the leader, second guy and after them, me.... I got 22 second penalty, because he pushed me out to the field.... I was 3, and finished 11... because he was an idiot....
Thanks everyone, who plays normal! I wish, Hopefully those guys, get the hell out way from this game....

Just an FYI, when you're updating these, the Americas have yet to start Round 3, so it might be confusing people.
Yeah of course. My bad! I will start to edit them as done when I wake up in the morning. :)

Skipping today's races as I hadn't time to practice and after few laps arranged in hurry, i don't feel confident to keep it safe for others. Oh boy, how does anybody like to drive the Porsche? TC 3 and it oversteers like on ice. :scared::embarrassed::lol:

PS: good luck to y'all, see you on Thursday round.

Hi guys!
I was so excited about FIA Championships... My first race was the manufacturers Cup in Japan... I really enjoyed that race, I was starting 19 and finished 14! that was a great race with too many great drivers... My second trying was the Nations Cup in Kyoto... I like that circuit, that is my favorite on this game.... ok.. entry, and qualification , then i got a message from system : disconnection.... WTF??? so I was unlucky, the system did not let me go again, and I got 0 point! this is not so funny Gran Tourismo!!!! of course, one day, one race... I did not do nothing wrong... I'm so upset... was anyone happen this same situation?
Same happened to me to, was dc after warm up. And didn’t get to race that day

I quite liked it on TC1, good fun but my lap times (16s) were **** so I am skipping it too

I know this is just the test, but hopefully they are gonna change a lot...also I don’t get it, if someone brakes short, and touch me, why do I have to pay for it (orange Sr..) that is his fault, not mine!.

I arranged practice for todays event, will do it every day from now on. So if you want to join, feel free! Check OP tomorrow to see when it is online (will post Room ID in blue letters)

I never felt too confident with the Porsche either, like you said it was like driving on ice. I felt TCS off with cockpit view to be the most enjoyable and easy way to drive it clean and «fast» with relatively no oversteering.
I find games with more visible wheel-movement better than those without (past-gen GTs for example) more easy to drive within cockpit view. Weird, I know.

So after some hours with a few friends and a guy from GTP I still wasn’t very confident I’d do good. Qualified with a time of 2:16.200, placing me at P1 for the race start. Had a strong lead until lap 4, where I overshot my braking point and the guy in 2nd place crawled up on me. Last lap, three last corners he came in hot, I had to defend my position and took the inside line. It worked. I won, but barely. Setting the fastest lap too, 2:14.086. Two Norwegians on pole with a Finnish guy on third.

I was nervous the whole time. But overall a fun but demanding car to drive. A lot of feathering to keep it from oversteering. Dislike this track version though, I prefer the non-reverse version.

Ohh, before i went to work i spent few minutes to run 4 laps on BH Indy with that electric buggy and i think i gotta love this silent car. Will be a good race.

Electric Ikea Buggy * ;) it has that Ikea shelf on the dash. Hahaha

YES! 2 wins out of 2 for my short GT3 career
Only got a 2nd and a 4th in my GT4 races but I havn't had much practice there, using those as banker races as my first GT3 win was in a Driver Rating "D" group and only got 174 points.
Loving it ! Qualified pole and stayed at the front with about a 5 second gap the whole race, nervy to say the least. Day off tomorrow too, no races.

It is the only car to date i spent my credits on ^^ cause i wanted to make a lokal metropolitan police livery for it from my capital. :D all othere garage members were gifts and rewards, plus 4 cars for mileage points and 2 cars lend by Nissan. :D

Cars i enjoy most are that Gr.4 GT-R, this BMW and Roadster from Mazda, and im sure Mazda LM55 VGT will be fun aswell ^^ so see you guys on the track, hope ill find some time to attend tomorrows tests. :)

I hope we get the Miata with rollcage and wing in the Mileage Exchange soon..

But! The last race with my Gr.3 GT-R..You know the final turn before the finish? Well.. I just performed the best mid-turn overtake of all time there to get P2. But! Very next lap I was too quick back on the throttle and the car slipped...bam into the wall. :banghead: I lost it, from there on the car slipped every now and then and lost completely. But I did set the fastest overall lap though.

OP updated. Will start up an online practice session soon if you want to join in and have some casual driving and chatting inbetween setting good times.

Had a good nations race last night. Q2 and placed 2nd after some hard but fair racing. I'm realistic about differing lines so don't get too salty about odd shunts or rubbing.
Unfortunately, manufacturers was terrible. Q9, P11. Lots of confusion after the chicane with 2 incidents of me doing 40-50mph more than someone in front who'd just clipped the wall and getting wall slammed on purpose. No penalty for me though so could've been worse.
Lost my lead in Jaguar. Now 2nd. Still 3 races to claw it back but don't fancy my chances. Will try to get to srA to boost my point potential.

I understand light bumps here and there but you can differentiate ramming / divebombing and bumps and rubbing. Intentional hits is far from nice. I do tend to lay close to people sometimes too, and unintentional bumps may happen if their driving style isn’t smooth.

I did get someone back on the dailies. 2 purposeful wall slams and my composure broke on dragon trail. They came last after I helped them find a graveltrap and I still managed a white B.
I'm only human.

I was rammed so hard I went off track and bumped back into the road hit another’s car destroyed his race aswel. And that was no accident, he used me as breaking tool. Couldn’t do anything to prevent it. And I got 10 sek penalty. I got so mad At the last corner before the finish line I sacrified my driving rating and everything. Rammed him at 250 km/h, and short story. He didn’t finish the race. My rating was set back to A (no complains about that) that is the first and hopefully last time I rammed someone with purpose. I like to help ppl pass me when I can see that they drive faster and better then I am. Normally that helps ur own racing times, ust observe and try to learn how he/she is driving.
Normally I always get matched in a group that manny racers are better then me, that is completely fine. Racing isn’t ust about getting the 1 place, I can be very happy with a 5 place. As long as I know I did my best.

I know how you feel. I wonder why some people always mess up other peoples race. Like you say, better to be happy in 5th if you did your best and raced other likeminded clean people than having a total wreckfest.

Be sure to join the practice session now, got my fiancé to test out the rig. :D

I wonder if PD reads at least this thread?..
Anyway, here is what I have experienced and what I would like PD to know about the FIA championship.

I took part in all 8 races.
Unfortunately only 2 races were real races, remaining 6 was just me racing against the clock - all other players were just standing on starting positions and I had to go around them since they were not ghosts and I could crash into them decreasing my PFP. I need to underline the below:
Polyphony Digital - those are FIA signed races and this kind of connection problem can not happen in championship of such a importance.
To be clear - I have absolutely no connection issues in other games (although I am on NAT2), I have my PS4 set as DMZ on my router and what is the most important I had not a single "empty" race in daily races - and I did about 20 daily races before focusing 100% on FIA championships.
Also, just to clarify - I am not posting to whine about the connection issues the game is clearly facing - I am writing so that PD could read about it and do something about it. This is the test season after all and perhaps we will be able to help this way to make the real seasons optimized?

As an important piece of information - all 6 races, that were not races at all, had one thing in common - at least one player was a ghost before the race started. In 2 real races no players were ghosts on start. And in all the races (8) my car did not show as ghost on start (at least for me). I believe there could be some issue with starting procedure?... Perhaps the procedure is too long and something changes while all the players are showed?

And to end - I have won 0 of those 6 "empty" races :( due to 3 factors:
1) During the starting procedure my car hits the car in front and goes back than hits the car again etc until countdown and after the countdown, when I have the control over the car I am already loosing around 30s? 1m?
2) I have to slow down, on every lap, before the finish line to overtake 19 blocks of concrete laying in the middle of the track.
3) There were always some very fast guys on the grid :)

In the two normal races I was 2nd and 9th. I have already written about the 9th place race (got pushed off of the track 4 times but I was PFP B back then).
The race I was 2nd in, was the one on Dragon trail II - I even was 1st for about 2 laps but couldn't take the pressure from #2 car :) Although I upped my game and almost got him on last lap - cut his lead by half on the lap from 3s to ~~1,5s :) - I believe he was also starting to get nervous :) - and in this race I was already PFP S and the race was 100% clean :)

In overall I find the championship so far as a negative experience due to the connection issue. Apart from that, when racing in PFP S races all is good, the experience changes to very much positive :) I also like the 3 rankings for every championship. What I would add to current state of the gameplay is being able to record best lap replay both from the race and from "free training" - I am not 100% sure how is it called in English version of the game.

That would be all - a long post, however I did not want to create separate threads or double post.

Regards,
P.

Well said @Lotrzyna. Apreciate your feedback, your point of view is valuable, like the rest of the experiences all you guys share here. It makes me happy.
The online practice is still online (check OP for Room ID) if you want to join a few of us having fun at Alsace at the moment. :) some practice races and a lot of chatting and of course just just practicing inbetween.

Good fun this practice lobby 👍

Enjoyed the evening with awesome people and drivers. Going to study the race replays to get an idea, where them guys cut those 2-5 seconds from the timev :D  👍 :gtpflag:

Looking forward to next session.

What do you guys think about bump drafting on long straights? Sometimes I just can't be bothered passing because the speed difference is so tiny, it just makes the whole thing sketchy, so in the past (once) I've bump drafted the guy infront and then laid off (way) before the braking zone as to not hinder his race.

Glad you guys enjoyed the practice session lobby, I did too. Good fun with great people, and it was awesome you guys made it. :)
I’ll open up another soon, for those of you who want to join the fun today! Will still be the same two events like yesterday, unless you want to practice tomorrows events. The lobby was up quite some time yesterday and it might be a little repetitive to do it again today maybe.

For ovals I think this is fine, and small bumps like those you get from bump drafting shouldn’t affect your SR a lot. I did it a little on the Mazda Blue Moon race, and like you said I wasn’t hindering the guy in front of doing his thing.
