I can't even begin to imagine the forces on a plane from a 105mm howitzer being fired. :scared:

Just from playing war thunder, some of those planes equipped with 30mm+ cannons practically get dropped out of the sky from the recoil.

I would love to fly in an AC-130 on a training mission. My dream flight would be in the YA-10B, the two seat variant of the A-10A. I haven't been able to find any images of the YA-10B, so I'm not sure if it's still operational. :/

I don't think it is operational anymore.

Here's an image from 2003 at Goleta A&S museum. Edit: This one was restored for the Air Force Flight Test Center as a display model.

Why prefer the two seater over the single seater? Also, why the A and not the C? A-10C for me!

Also, the two seater was made for night flying and or bad weather operations but it didn't really get off the ground, figuratively speaking. Not sure if it ever really was operational either..

I'm surprised that they still had room for the GAU-8 and added seat.

Because I know that I would never be able to get a pilot's license, OR join the Air Force.

Oh realistically, then yeah A-10 would be awesome. I'm not sure what I want.. U-2 spy plane would be nice seeing the earth from such a distance.

And with that, you reminded me of the SR-71. It's a shame they've all been grounded and the original machines that originally serviced them have been destroyed.t

The gun is under the seats, and all the way into the wing root. To remove it they have to put a stand under the tail, because they're taking 4,000 pounds out of the nose!

I remember reading that the GAU-8 takes up most of the forward weight, and removing it would unbalance the whole jet. It's kinda like the with the engine of the Ferrari Enzo, just at opposite ends of the vehicles. :)

Stuff like this makes me rage. Read the title of the article (which I'm not linking to for reasons).

Apparently this is a recurring issue on the A320 which they're working to address...

Don't get me wrong, it's bad that this is happening at all, but REALLY? A fan cowl separation = engine breaking apart? I wish "mainstream" media were banned from reporting relatively minor aviation incidents like this because of the crap reporting that always ensues.

/son of an airline pilot rant

Daily Mail manages to be even worse than the worst mainstream media. It's like Weekly World News, minus BatBoy.

Even Business Fish knows they're best used for lining bird cages.

Still, I'd probably say WTF! if that happened in front of my window seat, but I know the darn thing isn't going completely to pieces for that.

They aren't also known as The Daily Fail for no reason...

I see on their web site one of the acts is the Screamin' Sasquatch.

That - is a cool airplane!!! He was at the Blue Angels end-of-season Homecoming show last year.

I'm not sure I like the orientation of the field with respect to the sun. It looks like the crowd is facing the sun during the early to mid afternoon.....

It was also at the Quonset Air Show (along with the Blue Angels) in 2014 and 2015. Basically a Waco Taperwing biplane with a jet engine strapped underneath to "assist" the Pratt & Whitney radial. An amazing performer!

I really need to go to an air show one day. Whether it's the Blue Angels, or a Red Bull Air Race event, I want to see some incredible planes.
