Shueisha has been pushing really, really hard to make Toriko more successful than it already is (Basically get it fully recognized as "Big 3"-especially now when Bleach is starting to sell like 🤬-something Shueisha doesn't actually publicly acknowledge), so specials like these don't come as a surprise. They're probably demanding Toei does them.
Who comes up with these? These always are very odd and random. I spot characters/things from Pokemon, InuYasha, Fairy Tail, Kuroko's Basketball, Tsubasa, Hamtaro (WHY?!!!), Dragon Ball, Gundam, D.Gray-man, Rave Master, Bleach, and My Neighbor Totoro. Not sure if the straw hat is supposed to be for One Piece or something else.
I was gonna ask if that actually has an end, where up to 50 somthing now.

^ I liked Death Note to the mere fact it keeps you on the grips on what will happen next! Its the plot twists that gets me a lot, that is why I like Mirai Nikki for the same reason, too bad Future Diary is a bit short for what it is (only 26 eps)...
