Hmmm, ok. Outside of Cowboy Bebop (One of the first anime shows I actually got into), I'm not all that familiar with his work so I guess I can't relate at all with your feelings of expecting it to be better then it is nor agree or disagree that its bad in comparison to past production. What was it about the first episode that left you disappointed, maybe I'll get a better idea as to what you're talking about, that and it still stings me that I missed the first episode

While hearing that it was done by the creator of the Cowboy Bebop did get me interested in seeing it, I at the same time saw the promos and immediately knew this was something different so I kinda had no expections on what was it going to be, only that it looked like it was going to be a lot more colorful and less serious.

Macross Plus, Samurai Champloo, and of course, Cowboy Bebop.
Those were the start of my knowledge of him but I went on to find out he was involved in Gundam 0083, the animatrix, and has a few things he's credited with doing that I've never seen or heard of.
He's genuinely one of my favorites in the industry.
What I disliked so much about the first episode of space dandy was the complete lack of a plot or coherent story. Sure, I get that it isn't supposed to be that kind of show, that was obvious from the first episode, but that's also why I was let down and haven't bothered watching any more.

Regarding getting worked up...
I wasn't really worked up like raging on about the incident, I was merely responding in a back and forth manner. Expressing my disappointment and offense don't mean I'm at home punching things or cursing peoples' names. I never even took to personal insults with people in the discussion so I'd say there's no need to act like I was getting out of hand or really angry.

Sephy, I don't look for anime to give me facts about history.
I just don't like seeing the revisionist give a perverted version of history much like what Imari mentioned regarding his/her feelings regarding passion of the christ.

And my oh my... Did I hit a sore spot with that Madoka comment?
I know many of you love that series and I thought it'd be a perfect way to remind certain members that these programs are intended to evoke emotion. 👍

Finally,
@Cosbuster , cool ergo proxy avatar. 👍

There's no call for that.

I agree but I'm not going to let it bother me. He doesn't know me and I don't know him. I'm not going to get bent out of shape over something a stranger tells me.

Only Bakemonogatari? Why stop there? I guess there's no need to throw yourself further into such an odd show anyways though.

It's not bad, but it seems like it tries too hard. Weird conversation for the sake of weird conversation. The animation is wonderful, though.

I'm torn on Monogatari. I love the music, the weird animation style, and the dialogue, but some of it (OK, Nisemonogatari) really creeps me out with its over the top fanservice and weird little sister fetish thing... :yuck:

The latest series was great though.

Most likely some guy's fantasy. Possibly a woman's fantasy, with the chances of it being someone of another gender identity being an outlier, but still possible.

Hmm... I'm wondering if I should keep following Kill La Kill or just catch up on Sherlock instead...

Decisions, decisions...

Finished Diebuster and Michiko to Hatchin.

Diebuster was.... something. It's got some crazy awesome animation and gets quite epic at times, but overall is about as incoherent as FLCL, if not moreso. And it's stylistically and tonally very different from Gunbuster, so it doesn't really work well as a sequel.

Michiko to Hatchin was pretty cool. It was kinda like The Daughter of Twenty Faces with a couple dashes of Bebop and Black Lagoon thrown in. The ending was anticlimactic, but the journey there was consistently entertaining.

Ah, so they're both shows I should finish, as I lost both of them in a HDD crash a couple years ago and never revisited them.

Because in context that scene is disturbing, and out of context it is even more so?
Because I haven't got a clue about what is going on. :P
weird little sister fetish thing... :yuck:
As bad as Oreimo? :ill:

Speaking of which, I don't get the popularity behind it. It's like, pardon me for this, hentai without the sex. You watch it for the fetish because, I dunno, it's your thing, but you don't go straight to hentai. Seems half assed.

People watched Oreimo because they enjoyed it. I tried watching it because it was popular and found it to be utterly unspectacular, just another overly moe slice of life show with a weird (although amusing) twist to it. From what I saw, Oreimo didn't really have a little sister fetish itself, just the character. (although I really didn't watch that much.) Nisemonogatari was really messed up in that regard, however.

I wound up watching the first few episodes of Bakemonogatari after some people on another forum insisted I should try it, and wound up watching it occasionally when I felt like watching something with completely bizarre dialogue and really good music, and then wound up actively following it when I got to last year's series and it actually became good. (I'm honestly amazed that I got that far. I really hated the second series. A lot.)

-> I like Oreimo, I also want to see the true ending of it...not buying a PSP/PSV game (untranslated) just to see it... :indiff:

I just finished watching Tokyo Magnitude 8... t'was pretty good, but couldn't help but find all the "no that didn't actually happen, it was just their dream/imagination" crap to be slightly ludicrous, which diminished the impact of the feels.

In other news, I'm also just a couple episodes shy of completing Chuunibyou demo Koi ga ****ai. And much to my surprise, it's actually pretty good thus far. At the very least, it's a lot more entertaining than your average moeblob show (I'm looking at you, K-ON and Haruhi).

Lastly, I'm three episodes into Senki Zesshou Symphogear... for some reason. But it's also turned out better than expected, so far anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if it falls apart later on, but I guess I'll see it through to the end since it's fairly short.

I enjoyed Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. I thought it got better as it went on and it hit my feels.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear starts okay and then turns to poop.

I do think it would have been better if it was made as a movie, but it felt refreshing to me as far as anime goes.

I just had the strangest déjà vu... :P

What do you mean? :P

I think maybe you are going crazy because I don't know what you're talking about, but:

I thought Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 was a nice breath of fresh air at the time I saw it. It wasn't prefect, but gosh darnit, it had emotion.
