I shall not be staying up to watch the counts come in. I will however eagerly check the news on my phone each morning to see if the headline "National Guard battles Secret Service for control of White House, Space Force on stand by" has been posted.

completely sold out of 9mm ammo
According to some hunting friends, ammo in general has been scarce for quite a while now.

I haven't been to the grocery in about a week and honestly I don't want to find out what's going on. I live nearly on the edge of the burbs in Dayton, but have two Krogers, a Walmart, a Target, and a Costco within 3 miles of me, and people still manage to clean them all out.

What in the holy hell is going on in here? :odd:

Two new members, both with Israel as their locations (but with IPs that aren't Israel) with Jan 1 '80 and Dec 1 '90 birthdays arguing with each other.

Sus. I vote eject.

Well, that was tedious and predictable. And just long enough for a mask to slip.

Sadly I'll be tidying up some funny posts from the rest of us.
Seems like I missed the good stuff. Any screenshots?

Oh my. I gather I missed something.

This has been going on for weeks, why is this case coming forth now?
I get the sense that they're seeing writing on the wall with the significant increase in voter turnout and the apparent correlation between more of the population voting and a trend to the left.

That's crazy. Texas isn't flipping soon, if at all. But I suppose what I consider flipping and what the GOP considers flipping are entirely different things. To me, it means a simple majority swap. But to the GOP, I gather anything short of decimation suggests they're losing comfortable control.
They need Trump to win Texas. I figure he will. But they need him to win with a percentage that reaffirms the notion that Texas isn't flipping.

They definitely need to show that Ted Cruz's narrow win in 2018 was a fluke, which it likely was by virtue of Ted being a truly loathsome individual and Beto himself being rather weak. I still say that if anyone has a shot at turning Texas blue, it's Ted. I know two particular Republicans, reluctant Cruz voters, who, despite not knowing one another as far as I'm aware, have both referred to Cruz as "smarmy."

Frankly, the GOP needs Trump to win outright on the national stage. Popular vote and Electoral College. Anything short of that is a loss at this point. They need him to win because in the event that he loses, even after exhausting all options available, they suspect he's going to pull some crazy **** before he's to be ousted in early 2021...as I imagine many people do. And because they are Trump--there's no daylight between them--they're absolutely going to back it. They know how bad it'll look. They know that their acquittal early this year will pale in comparison. They need him to win so that it doesn't come to that.

I feel like the GOP and its base are so far gone at this point that they'd back an actual despot so long as they're not among the oppressed.

Is this the first (US) election in history where the incumbent is running under the exact same slogan as they did in the previous election?

I could understand it better if Trumps's current slogan was 'Keep America Great' or 'Let's Make America Even Greater'.... but sticking to 'Make America Great Again' is a tacit admission that America isn't "Great" at the moment, even after four years of Trumpism...

Even better, he HAD hats that said Keep America Great but those have been replaced with the MAGA hats.

Yea it doesn't really work very well either way. If it's Keep America Great (which I've seen), then it kindof implies that things are better now, but... who believes that? If it's MAGA, then it's an admission that things haven't been fixed. Which is also problematic.

I feel like "keep moving backward" would have been more in line with the original message of returning to the past, and it speaks to the notion of progressing further in that direction without making it possible to deny that progress in the "backward" direction has been made.

Keep Moving Backward... missed opportunity there.

MAGA could also mean Made America Great Again.....

Buffalo chicken on deck. No beers tonight, I don't feel like throwing my TV out the window.

"We made America great but it's China's fault we have to make America great again."

Sadly, I missed whatever this was. But still smashed that like button for the Among Us references.

I caught the whole thing. And I must say it was perhaps the weirdest conversation I've ever witnessed on the forum. It seemed as though two zealots, working as a team, took it upon themselves to interfere with this, the 2020 election thread. Bizarre!

I normally wait up to watch the results of the UK general election, but the results of the US election will no start coming in until the small hours in the UK.

No beer either, just a basic piece of bread, water and NaCl intravenous topping.
The start of the election night (00:11 here) is uninteresting, I just wish I could sleep right now.

I did enjoy the person pretending to be multiple people using one account.

Vermont and Kentucky are in, Trump is up 8 to 3.

Interesting. That's how they were expected to go. Arizona closes in 2 hours, and they've apparently been counting mail-in ballots. If Arizona goes Biden, that would be big.

Short term, I'm sure, but Georgia just went from leaning Trump to leaning Biden.

Mostly interested as I was born there and still have family there.

Edit: Florida, too.

Kentucky was always going to be red. It's McConnell's home state after all & they've never threatened to get rid of him.

I think polls are closed in Georgia and at least parts of Florida. Apparently both states have already been counting mail-in ballots. If either of those goes Biden (which I was considering more of a long shot), that would be huge as well.

Darn it, I should have asked for a west coast project this week so I could stay up late.

Chris Christie is the size of a bridge.

Broward County gets a shout-out on ABC!

Also, the ABC desk is big enough to have a cricket match in the middle of it.

How many times will they mention Scranton tonight? I'm thinking like 14.5 times.
