We all know that Trump is prone to bluster and exaggeration, to put it mildly. It is a great mistake to believe at face value everything last thing he says. That's a rabbit hole that leads to madness. Rational, experienced and knowledgeable people will disregard the twaddle and prefer the facts.

This comes up a lot in defense of some of the wackier stuff he says, and to some extent it's fair. But it's not uncommon for him to say something insane and be absolutely serious. And the only way to know which is which is to wait and see, which is kinda scary. Is he blustering and exaggerating about launching nukes at North Korea, or is he serious? Is he just pandering to his base when he says he won't give up the White House without a fight, or will he actually do it?

Hell, some people thought he wasn't serious about actually building a wall for a while. The justification was that it was a metaphor for a more secure border, as a coast to coast wall paid for entirely by a foreign nation that didn't want to was too bonkers to believe. As it turns out, he was totally serious.

If / when Biden wins, I wouldnt mind betting he gets impeached after investigations into his dodgy dealings with his son Hunter in the Ukraine.

Paving the way for his vice (Harris) to take over the helm.

The dude is about to turn 78. There's every chance he dies in office and you get Harris regardless of any politics.

The Democrats are going to impeach their own just-elected President over a made up story to... What end, exactly?
I don't imagine the implication was that Democrats would be doing the impeaching.

I wouldnt mind betting he gets impeached after investigations into his dodgy dealings with his son Hunter in the Ukraine.
The source of this story is an email recovered from a laptop that Hunter Biden apparently left at a repair shop. How this email came to light is considerably dodgier than its alleged contents...

I mentioned this over 50 pages ago in this thread, but the rough outline is:
* Hunter Biden flies across the entire USA from LA to Delaware specifically to get his three MacBooks repaired at this one shop (for some reason)
* Hunter Biden forgets about these laptops for three months - during which time the store's video recording system, which wipes itself every two months, has wiped the video of Biden coming in.
* After three months, the repair shop owner - who is blind and a Trump supporter - realises that the guy who dropped them off was Hunter Biden.
* For some reason, he reads the contents of the hard drives, though this apparently takes a while as...
* He discovers disturbing emails, created four months after Biden dropped the MacBooks off, and gives them to the FBI.
* Also he clones the hard drives.
* At around this time, the National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien warns Donald Trump that Rudy Giuliani has been groomed by Russian intelligence operatives on a trip to Ukraine and is likely to be unwittingly part of a Russian campaign to feed misinformation to the White House
* Then the blind computer repair shop owner, upset with the Trump impeachment proceedings in January, decides to give the clones of the hard drives he made (for some reason) to Rudy Giuliani (somehow)
* After sitting on these emails, Giuliani takes nine months to tell the New York Post about them

Now of course, the fact that a man the NSA thinks is an unaware Russian operative is the source of these incriminating emails he's got from a blind computer repairer that weren't created until four months after Hunter Biden dropped the laptops off in a shop 3,000 miles from where he lives, and sat on for nearly a year before exposing them, doesn't mean they aren't true.

The sad thing is that the allegations that this email communication purportedly substantiates aren't particularly unbelievable. The circumstance in which the allegations are purportedly substantiated *are* unbelievable.

It was never actually about holding anybody accountable, something that I actually support. It's nothing more than smear leading up to the election, and frankly I believe it had at least some impact on the results. It still amazes me (it shouldn't, I know...) that the GOP put its weight behind the effort, including hosting a link to the ridiculous Post "exposé" on Rep. Jim Jordan's official House website.

I appreciate alternative names for Trump supporters that aren't inherently pejorative, but I'm not okay with this one.

The trumpet is a beautiful musical instrument.

"Strumpet" is also a word and I don't think it's well-known enough...

The most recent obsession in Trump’s universe is Biden’s son Hunter. Hunter Biden’s rocky background is no secret, with Joe Biden himself having addressed it on several occasions. Last week, though, the New York Post began running a series of articles leveraging material obtained by Trump’s attorney, Rudolph W. Giuliani. The initial focus was on re-litigating the events that led to Trump’s impeachment last year, though much of the attention was instead focused on the odd provenance of the material. In reporting from the New York Post and Fox News since, the focus has expanded outward to include other aspects of Hunter Biden’s business record.

That’s where Mr. Bobulinski enters. A former business partner of Hunter Biden’s, he apparently became frustrated at learning that the former vice president’s son had made a business deal in China without him. He’s since decided to help Giuliani and Senate Republicans dig through as much of Hunter Biden’s business history as possible. His presence at the debate, it appears, is either meant to rattle Joe Biden for unclear reasons — or simply to inject more energy into Trump’s base, many of whom have been tracking the expanding intricacies of the Hunter Biden plotline with great enthusiasm.

[...]

Trump’s defenders will argue that voters don’t know Bobulinski’s name because most news outlets haven’t dived deep enough into the story to cover that level of nuance. Which is largely true, in part because most news outlets (including, at first, Fox News) were unwilling to cover the initial allegations reported by the New York Post given the inability to access and verify the material.

On one hand we have a unwitting potential Russian agent with dead-to-rights emails from a blind computer shop repairer with inexplicable access to video evidence of a guy who flew across the entire nation to go to his shop and a tendency to analyse and clone customers' hard drives. On the other we have a disgruntled former business partner with dead-to-rights documentation (and mobile phones)...

... but no actual physical evidence presented by anybody to anyone, despite the rabid grinding of axes.

Incidentally, the interview you have linked is a Tucker Carlson skit. Carlson was recently cleared of libel on the defence that he is "not stating actual facts" and his show is intended as "non-literal commentary". The judge accepted this, and stated that no reasonable person would expect to believe what Carlson has to say.

Another smoking gun, which seems to be neither smoking nor a gun.

Saw this when it came out a week or two ago. It's ridiculous.

This interview is closely related to the "documents" that Tucker supposedly had on Biden. The ones that got lost in UPS, where the package was found opened and empty by a UPS employee, and shortly thereafter the contents were rediscovered and reshipped. I think Hunter lost the package before the interview aired and didn't get the package until after it aired, at which point he had decided to stop pursuing the Bidens on this.

I have to believe the reason he stopped pursuing the Bidens - and the reason that package was found empty and arrived late - is because the FBI intercepted it to inspect the contents, found out they were malarkey, and gave Hunter's legal team a talking to about spreading false info.

I've seen Mr. Robot, I know how the FBI works.

Good word. In the context in which it's most frequently used, I prefer "trollop." But neither apply in a way that is satisfactory to me. Plus both are more likely to be derogatory than not.

My aim isn't actually to refer to the entire group in a derogatory manner.

I still like "Trumpkin" because it alludes to the apparent kinship between Trump and those who support him. I suppose it sounds a little like "bumpkin," which is more likely to be derogatory than not and may describe some of his base but doesn't describe his base as a whole, but it also sounds like "pumpkin," and as this is intended to refer to those who support Trump rather than Trump himself (because he's orange, but then not all pumpkins are), I can't reasonably deem it derogatory.

I suppose people may find "Trumpkin" offensive when it's used to refer to them, but people can and will find a way to be offended by anything, and it's their right to do so, but that doesn't make that which offends them offensive by default.

There's so much censorship / corruption going on that hardly anyone knows what's going on exactly but it's fair to say that people in the heirarchy have been bought and sold over and over and the system stinks to high heaven.

The red nuke button has been overtaken by the great reset button.

You're not going to find that people here as gullible as necessary to take what you offer in the manner that you offer and without applying appropriate reasoning. This is not the echo chamber you're looking for.

The Georgia gap is over 7,000 now. Arizona gap is down to 20,500.

edit: Last batch for Maricopa county in Arizona went 58% for Trump. That was around 7,500 votes in Trump's favor. Other counties probably were a bit more favorable for Trump.

Oooooh. I get it. You think GTP are the comment chains on Twitter posts.

The only person that doesn't know what's going on, or at least refuses to believe what's going on, is Trump. States, and more specifically the Secretary of States, know what's going on since it's their job. Every single one of them spoken out about how not corrupt the election is and how they are ensuring things are counted accurately and according to state law.

The likelihood of fraud is very low. Sure there's going to be some fraud, that's almost always the case, but it's so minimal it's not going to sway the overall vote very much. I think I've heard about one instance of fraud so far and it was a person who tried to vote for Trump twice.

If there really was a concern over fraud, the Secretary of State in each state would be sounding the alarm. They're not going to risk career suicide and the potential for moving up the political ladder over this.

The Hunter Biden email "story" falls on its face for 1 simple reason; Viktor Shokin was not removed b/c he might have potentially uncovered corruption involving Joe & Hunter. He was removed by Joe Biden b/c Viktor Shokin wasn't investigating corruption.

The very actions of Joe actually work against the best interests of Hunter getting away with a crime....

I wonder how many Georgians are overseas.

But Biden was caught on video saying that he threatened to withhold money from Ukraine and that's exactly the same as Trump withholding money from Ukraine (except in all the ways it's not).

According to the DOD, it looks like Georgia has around 60,000 active-duty military personnel. It doesn't break it down by location, but there's no way they're all overseas. So assuming half are overseas, that leaves 30,000-ish military members. Some of those votes were already counted and given voter turn out as a whole, I can't imagine they all voted.

If I had to guess, there are probably less than 15,000 people from Georgia overseas.

Have you seen these videos? They're repeated, verbatim, on every right-wing blog out there, but there's literally no physical evidence of any of these things, and they make absolutely no sense. No news outlet is covering it because there's no actual facts in there (yet).

A guy who doesn't like Trump ordered postal workers in sorting offices to backdate postal ballots. Why? Could he see through the ballots and spot that they were more in favour of Biden? Also, how? It's an automated process - you can't manually date, let alone for tens of thousands of items of post that are just ballots, which you wouldn't know they were anyway until after they've been sorted and stamped...

Fraud is inevitable, and all but unavoidable. It will happen. The concept that it will happen to this degree of organisation and at the quantity required to hand Biden wins in Trump states but not Democrat representatives/senators in the same states is fantasy (and separate from the concept of foreign influence in elections, by the amplification of negative stories).
