This would look even better as an Obi Wan Kenobi gif :D
I thought about it as I was composing the post, but this thread is moving so fast and I wanted to get it out there as quickly as possible. I knew people would get the reference and I knew the gif wouldn't make the comment any more meaningful to the individual at whom it was directed.

Sadly not by a long shot. While Biden almost certainly won, there will be weeks of recounts, legal cases, and a whole bunch of other BS that's just going to waste tax dollars and everyone's time.
I've read demanding recounts will become harder if Biden grabs other states in addition to Pennsylvania. 1 source said the Wisconsin recount will cost Trump $3 million off the bat.

On top of that, it doesn't seem like any (besides 1 or 2, perhaps?) lawsuit brought forth to numerous states has stuck. Multiple judges in different states threw out the suits immediately b/c there was zero evidence.

It's done.

It's also not official - these are not confirmed numbers which make a Trump win in PA mathematically impossible, but media projections from statisticians that suggest it is highly improbable.

If someone were to find 70,000 Trump ballots by magic...

Ya, I do have to wonder how it's going to get funded. I'm not sure how campaign finance laws work surrounding this. I know Lindsey Graham pledged $500k, but if he's legally able to give that kind of money or not is something I have zero clue about.

It's going to get expensive rather quickly.

So I'm estimating about 120,000 votes left in Arizona now. Trump would need about 58.4% of votes to tie. Actual number of votes left is probably less, but I don't know how many votes came in from other counties in the last update.

Arizona is expecting more counting to be done in the upcoming week. This was the last major update for this week.

Well done US peeps! Now to get this crook, his family and cronies charged and convicted. Past four years have been a stain on your great country.

As a fed up exhausted American, I just breathed the biggest sigh of relief. But the cynic in me knows we're not done yet. As Trump has this whole week and as he will surely continue to, he'll be leaving the Oval Office kicking and screaming. Recounts will keep being demanded and the validity of the results will be called into question by him and his supporters for weeks/months/years ahead.

But I'm just gonna bask in this win right now, because we did it. We needed it. Time to start healing, because America is better than what we've shown the world the past 4 years.

I'm still very interested in the remainder of the states of course. We've known that PA was statistically very likely to deliver a win (though I'm surprised that NV and AZ didn't finish first).

It still want to see all of NV, AZ, and GA end up in the biden box to cement a victory. Because there are going to be some ugly shenanigans coming if it's just one state.

Edit:

I've been in kindof a low tension state since yesterday when it became clear that Trump would lose but it hadn't been called. Now that it has been called, tension is rising again as I'm wondering what the next move is.

There may well be bumps in the road between now and January, but Trump is done.

For Trump to stay in the White House would require unprecedented action - I don't know how many recounts have resulted in a state being flipped from one candidate to the other is US Presidential elections in the past, but Trump is not just demanding multiple recounts - he is expecting to have Biden's votes struck down across multiple states in order to effectively declare the result of the election null and void. That is, without any exaggeration, an attempt to subvert the entire electoral process itself, and if Trump and his criminal gang decide to persist with this, things could get very ugly indeed - as if it wasn't already ugly.

I'd still feel a lot better with wins in AZ and GA. Anyway, it's obviously good news right now. :)

Agree with your post.

With the bold, I've read the most was a couple thousand through Florida, back in the infamous 2000 race. Other than that, it appears recounts may only flip a few hundred at most to their correct candidate.

In 1960, Nixon had very good cause to ask for recounts in Texas and Illinois due to, respectively, Lyndon Johnson's southern machine and the Chicago mafia. Both states were very narrow and had he contested and won on recount, he would have won the election.

He chose not to for the sake of the country. He felt it was not in America's best interests to drag an election out through the courts and that it would damage future confidence in both the democratic process and the country as a whole.

Just something I thought was worth mentioning for no particular reason.

I know what you mean but considering the challenges presented and kicked out so far they need the evidence and unless a humdinger comes along, it just won't wash. Won't stop him from trying. By this time next week I feel the gop will abandon him.

Nevada just got called.

Your turn Georgia.

Step 1, don't re-elect Trump.

Step 2, remove electoral college.

I think the weed has done some real good in Colorado.

Colorado has passed Proposition 113, joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which is an agreement to give all of a state’s electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote. Colorado currently controls nine electoral votes.

Coincidentally, this provisionally makes Joe Biden the second man in history to serve as Vice President, retire, then come back and win the Presidency.
I believe there's a statistic that also credits Joe with being the first President to win without Florida, Ohio, & another state (Michigan, maybe). Or Trump the first to lose with those. I can't remember.

OK. Joe Biden is no Aragorn ... but this feels like LOTR book three. After the evil lord Sauron & his henchman Saruman & evil orc hordes run rampant over the land in book two, finally good triumphs & balance is restored. :)
