First Impeachment
O'Donnell: Article 1 alleges the president, "Will remain a threat to national security and the constitution if allowed to remain in office." Are you confident that the president won't seek foreign assistance again?

Collins: I believe that the president has learned from this case.

O'Donnell: What do you believe the president has learned?

Collins: The president has been impeached. That's a pretty big lesson. I'm voting to acquit. Because I do not believe that the behavior alleged reaches the high bar in the constitution for overturning an election, and removing a duly elected president.

What I don't understand is, if Trumpistas don't believe he was impeached (properly or otherwise) because the Senate acquitted him, regardless of the fact that this has nothing to do with what impeachment actually means, then does that mean they don't believe Bill Clinton was impeached either?

They want to leave the door open for 2024 when they will forget he nearly got them killed.

I know but does this let Clinton off the hook too in their eyes or are they just hypocrites?

They are just hypocrites.
Congress needs the witness protection program.
I know you're being sarcastic, but it essentially does end their chances of being re-elected.

OK. But more interestingly, that led me to today's India Republic Day Parade. Now THAT'S a parade!
DJT must be wild with envy of his buddy Modi. There's this (it's ALL awesome, but check out 14.25):

And then there's this:

What megalomaniac orange turd doesn't understand is,
Noticed how only the countries who have an inferior military would go through and display theirs in a parade in a way to motivate and their population and compensating for the lack of power...

The USA has the best military defense on earth, it doesn't need to show off, like every other countries on earth....

The only reason trump wants to do it, is because he has a small one...

You have to be a special kind of stupid to start up more unfounded claims against Dominion when Powell & now Giuliani are already being sued for $1.3 billion by them for baseless accusations.

MeinPillow must really want to piss away whatever he has left of his company.

MyPillow guy Mike Lindell loves to talk about how he used to be a homeless crack addict and became worth $300M due to his innovative MyPillow.

I think it's great and all that he was able to start a business on his own and do well for himself, but he's definitely still on crack.

Trumpism, man.

He's still a billion short if Dominion goes after him. I'm guessing he's hoping Trump will pardon/prohibit this lawsuit somehow.

“Cancel culture” has become the new scapegoat. “What’s that? People don’t agree with my ideas and want businesses to stop selling my products? Curse you Cancel Culture for trying to silence me!”

Classic projection.

We're closing in on two decades since the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the war abroad that was reignited in their wake. Natalie Maine of the Dixie Chicks had the audacity to speak out against the war and the band was promptly cancelled, with outraged conservatives destroying physical media and memorabilia and calling on radio stations to stop playing the group's songs. Radio station employees were even punished for playing them, so it wasn't only the band that was hurt with loss of product and concert revenues.

And just a few years ago conservatives were blowing up Yeti coolers because of a dispute between Yeti and the NRA Foundation.

Conservatives have selective amnesia when it comes to cancel culture.

There's nothing free market about Trump's attempt to close down Tiktok in the US. It sounds like a genuine free speech issue of the kind cons like to talk about but never seem to be able to provide an example of.

I think you can go further back than what happened to The Dixie Chicks to find an ur-example of conservative (attempted) cancel culture.

Yeah ... but camels, man! They got soldiers (wearing awesome uniforms) on camels! Suck on that, "best military defense on earth"! :P

"Cancel culture" is literally free market capitalism in action. It is voting with your wallet - you stop giving money to people who you think are utter ****knuckles.
Absolutely. I made remarks to that effect when commenting on a user's profile post complaining about Miriam Webster [sic] updating a definition to correspond with remarks during the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

"Cancel culture" is a manifestation of the free market, freedom of choice and freedom of expression.

If you want to boycott and/or promote the boycott of Dolly Parton because she thinks black lives matter, you get to. If you want to boycott and/or promote the boycott of Goodyear because it has an employee dress code, you get to. But to do these things and decry others doing similar of other entities is hypocrisy.

...

How could I have left out condemnation of Starbucks for printing "Happy Holidays" on their cups? Of course you get to do that, but it also brings us back around to the conservative victim complex, as the supposed war on Christmas is the ultimate expression of the culture of victimhood that conservatives have cultivated.

I still don't understand the $400+ cooler phenomenon...It's a couple of beers, not a live organ to be transported.

I mean, I get that conspicuous consumption and bragging rights are an American ideals coated in perpetuity, and doing stuff like math, economics, logic, and science for a different cooler that's a mere 1 degree Centigrade warmer but costs 25% less...because you can't subjectively tell the difference.

To be fair, what makes a YETI isn't merely its cold retention but also its durability. But yeah, lots of people with them could likely utilize something that costs less than half as much to equal effect.

I have a Yeti tumbler and a not Yeti tumbler. The Yeti tumbler keeps my coffee hot/warm longer than the not Yeti tumbler. Ancedotal based on sample size of one though; well, actually two, because we have two Yeti tumblers and I have used both of them.

EDIT: I also have a Yeti koozie. It does a better job of keeping the beverage cooled compared to a fabric or foam one.

I thought they were to keep my hand from getting cold. My drinks don't sit around long enough to risk warming up anyway.

Heat exchange works both ways, right? If your cold drink is insulated to prevent your hand from getting cold, that insulation also prevents your body heat from warming the drink.
