I'm not sure I agree that it's a foregone conclusion that these people will get a pardon as soon as a republican wins the whitehouse. I think, I guess I hope, that what it will take for a republican to win the white house again is a candidate that refuses to condone january 6th.

I mean, if they refuse to condone it, doesn't that mean they should step aside and name Trump as their successor since they STILL believe he won in 2020 or will they ignore that too?

I think a reckoning is needed within the conservative camp that requires candidates that actually respect the institutions of the US. This means that the party line needs to be that Trump lost and committed crimes deserving of accountability. I think (I hope) that's the only real path forward. So if a republican manages to win the whitehouse, I'm hoping that what was needed to win the electoral vote was to break with Trump entirely.

Like any politician worth their salt they're probably hungry for more votes and power and the red hatted peanut gallery may be difficult to ignore, especially given the inherent threat of violence if the peanuts don't get their way in everything.

I appreciate this and I agree, but I should say that I don't think it was intended so much to assert a foregone conclusion as to say that this is what the Republican Party is now, which I absolutely think is accurate.

Anyway Rhodes or any of the other Sixers may end up in the prison infirmary with rectal trauma and not pull through, rendering the whole pardon thing moot, and the world's just gonna keep turning.

I suspect Julius Fucik's Entry Of The Gladiators should be playing as a soundtrack to this video.

He's been saying the entire time that there was fraud in the last election. Because he was the one doing it.
Every accusation...

Good luck trying to convince his supporters of that, however. I can hear his whiny voice crying "CNN FAKE NEWS!!!" as he waves his tiny hands about.

It's supposedly inaccurate, but Reuters posted the charges:

The two-page document cites the "Violation Of The Georgia Rico (Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations) Act," "Solicitation Of Violation Of Oath By Public Officer," "Conspiracy To Commit False Statements and Writings" and "Conspiracy To Commit Forgery in the First Degree," among other charges listed.

And the sad part is, this won't even remotely affect his standing in the polls:
It's like a monkey trap. Republicans are too greedy for votes to let go of the nut.

Let's hope the minority in his thrall isn't finessed into a fake majority by their dirty tricks brigade.

Unfortunately, it's not looking like that:
They may have Republicans believing this is all fake news but it looks like they only represent around a third of the electorate if I'm reading that article correctly. I can't see how they'll get independents on their side but perhaps I'm missing something. No wonder they're hellbent on cheating.

Looking at the chart, 23% either think it was unethical, but not illegal, or the he did nothing wrong full stop when looking at Georgia. 34% said they didn't know enough, which seems weird considering it's pretty much plastered everywhere. Also, Trump is on tape doing what they said he did.

What's more worrying is that 38% believe that Trump's role in January 6th was either unethical, but not illegal, or that he did nothing wrong. I don't know how anyone can consider themselves an independent and look at what happened and say "nah Trump's innocent here". He told people to march to the Capital to contest the election results on national TV.

Even then, 48% of all the people surveyed either think Trump's innocent or that they don't know enough about the case. However it breaks down though, there's still a staggering number of people who have bought into Trump's BS even if they aren't a declared Republican, which is why I still think the trials won't hurt Trump's chances at winning the nomination.
