Can anyone please tell me that is it necessary to connect the power adapter with DFP or can it work only with the USB in ps3??

I don't have the PS3 but the DFP works on the PS2 with the no power adapter and using USB. I unplug the DFP end of the plug, which may be dangerous (electrical shock ?) not the wall end. I believe the power is only for the force feedback to work. I would think the PS3 would be the same.

What cockpit did you buy. Show us some pictures when you have it all put together.

I got a Playseats Evolution on Amazon for $250, free shipping. I've not done anything special to it, really, except thoroughly ziptying all the cords out of the way. Plus, I don't have a camera.

It's a bit wobbly with the driving position I've set it at, but the wobble isn't intrusive. The cockpit is neither quality nor bad. The seat, though, I very much like. It's probably just the way all cockpit seats are shaped, but I've only tried this cockpit, so I wouldn't know. It's not comfortable like an old couch, where you sit down, and everything just fluffs out around you, conforming perfectly to your shape. This one is comfortable in that you sit down on the hard surface, but notice it's already shaped exactly like you. I like it:)

They say a picture's worth 1000 words, so I must apologize: I've run out of words. I've searched through my pockets, upturned my piggy bank, emptied the jar on top of the fridge. I've been borrowing words from everyone I know; I owe the librarian about four paragraphs, and many of my friends five paragraphs. I've resorted to dusting off my old, dusty words from an era long past, that I've been storing in my attic. I polish them, dust them, refinish them if I must. But now I truly have nothing left to say, and for this I apologize dearly.

...

Bought a DFP on e-bay for 48.00 . Auctions on there all the time for these and the G25's. You can also find great deals on sporty car seats. Just FYI.

I'm building my cockpit now, so when I finish, I'll post some pics for you guys to stroll over and tell me what you think.

Does DiRT recognize 900 degree mode?

Yeah, you press select, R3 and the right shift paddle.

Hello all,

I've been a lurker for almost 3 years and just decided to register.

Anyway, I have a question:

I've just recently purchased a DFP wheel from ebay.

Upon further inspection I found that the picture had the 'GT' emblem on it, which puzzled me 'cause on the Logitech website the DFP has a 'Logitech' symbol on it.

My question is this:

Did I just spend 57 quid on an old version of the DFP?

As far as i'm aware theres no differences, between the 2 other than the Gt symble in the middle

How easy is the DFP to take apart? I over-tightened the clamp, and cross-threaded the plastic bolt, and now I need to take it apart to fix it. However, I don't want to find out that it's very difficult to put back together, or take apart.

So, my question: Is it difficult to take apart and put back together? Like, once I undo the screws, are there clips, which I must practically rip open (like on cell phones), and are there delicately positioned rubber pieces which complicate reassembly (like on DS2's)?

Basically, I don't want to untape it from the table to which it's currently taped to find that I can't get it apart, and I don't want to find that I can't put it back together afterwards.

Please help me, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its quite easy to take the plastic cover off and put it back on. The screws are the only thing holding it on IIRC. I doubt you will have much trouble. I know I didn't.

I have a question about the DFP in GT4: I have the PAL version of the game and when I enable the power steering option for the DFP in the menu it doesnt seem to have any effect. That is to say the amount of force feedback seems to remain the same and does not reduce the amount of resistance when you try to turn the wheel quickly. This is especially noticable in drifts when steering into the turn, there is still plenty of resistance there.

Is it possible that this is a glitch in the PAL version game or is it the same for the NTSC version? Because i would like to get the NTSC version if it fixes it.

As a side note I just got Enthusia for PS2 and it has awesome power steering feel to it - light when you want to turn the wheel but always turning against you when you let it go. Much more of a real feeling to it than with GT4. THe snap back speed is a lot faster too. I was kinda hoping the power assist option in GT4 would make it feel that way too.

the DFGT has an 11 inch diameter. this is as big as the G25 and alittle bit bigger than the DFP (10 inch diameter) and the FFB is apparently miles away from the DFP and comparable to the G25

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=105656

the only thing thats the same with the DFP and DFGT is that it uses the same base and similar pedals

lol, I just took it apart, fixed the clamp, and broke it again.

*sighs*

Well, let's get some more tape!

EDIT: Though, that's just due to my stupidity; I dropped the top half of the steering wheel, and the top half (but not the bottom half) of the clip went with it. Halved, the clip is useless.

Is anyone selling a DFP clip? [I'll never find another, will I?]

Hey guys, new here!:) But I've got a problem :(

Basically I've stopped playing GT4 with my DFP and then started using the DFP with my PC. Everything is fine and working, until recently I tried to use the DFP with GT4. The DFP starts up normally (spinning left and right in 900 and 200 degree mode) and the 2 green lights are lit. When I start a race, the DFP and pedals don't work, not even the buttons. I can still change from 200 to 900 degree modes, so I'm sure its not a calibration problem and I've also tried changing USB ports, but nothing.

I've replugged the DFP to my PC and it works fine  Can anyone please help? :nervous: I miss my GT4 lol

I didn't use my DFP for a couple of months, and when I picked it back up the left directional pad button would not work in any of the menus. However, when driving (GT4, PS2) it worked just fine. Also, after races in the vertically arranged menus, the selection rapidly scrolls without me touching anything.

Any suggestion on how to fix the directional pad so that I can actually navigate the menus?

I'm having the same problem right now and its def. bugging me. Anymore suggestions guys?

If anyone could help me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

I play mostly with my PC at the moment, and the DFP works just fine most of the time. But occasionally after an hour to two of play, in the middle of a race it just sort of turns off. The lights go off and neither the wheel nor the pedals work. You have to quit the game, unplug the USB-cord and plug it back in, to get it working again. I have downloaded the most recent Logitech Gaming Software (5.04), doesn't help. Sometimes I've forgot to unplug it after I've finished playing, and even then it has somehow turned itself off.

Otherwise it works perfectly and I love it. However it's almost unbearable when it fails you in the middle of a tight race. What might be causing this and is there a way to solve it? Oh and by the way, it's the older (PS2) model.

Quick question (without sifting through 100's of posts, sorry) regarding the locking function of the Driving Force Pro.

It is to my understanding the DFP can be manually locked (hardware locked as opposed to in game) to 200 or 900 degrees. Would this be a correct assumption?

I am planning on buying another wheel (I have 3 already...) for PS2 and PS3 use. My main use will be 200 degree mode for GT4/GT5:P/GT5 and any other PS2/PS3 title that utilizes a default of 900 degrees and the lack of an in-game setting to change it.

My objective here is to make it easier for more of my friends to utilize a wheel for a larger variety of my games. 900 degrees is just too much for most of them. Yet, I would like to have another 900 degree wheel as well. Hence my interest in the DFP. This would kill two birds with one stone.

Any issues with this locking function?

;)
