The market is now dead

While I want to agree with all of you that the birthday glitch has devalued these cars and hurt the market the fact is that I just don't care due to the horrible design flow of the GTmode career. There are to few races in each championship. They don't award enough money / exp per race. You can't clear trophies to get another prize car each time you do a championship. The car's you do get are crap and most of them aren't worth selling. This is a racing game, not Final Fantasy. I shouldn't need to spend 100 hours to get the car I wan't. I've owned all past GT games and I did go through the grind on those, however none of them were anywhere near as slow and monotonous. Don't get me wrong, I love GT5. The actual racing is the best feel I've seen in a racing game. That doesn't excuse the horrible career flow in GTmode. You all can claim cheater all you want. I feel no guilt whatsoever. If you choose to do it the intended way and grind through career mode, building up your credits and xp until that one glorious day when you can purchase said mechanical wonder than you can have the pride of knowing you did it proper. While you are toiling to get that far though I'll be online racing against friends and actually having fun :)

I really think it is fun with trading, and if I want a car and can offer a car for trade, the business is done. The only problem is that the servers cant't obviously handle our demands, and that is something PD would think about in the first place years ago before implementing online racing ing gt5. Could they really be that naive, thinking people wouldn't share data with eachother?

My advise to PD, look how well forzas online world functions, at least you can gift things multiple times. Then it's strange, could it really be "the gifting multiple of cars" be to hard on the servers? I mean you dont gift cars, only a simple code, since you allready "have" the cars in your hdd. It can't be more hard on the servers gifting cars, than having mail conversation with other playes thru PS servers or uploading photos and share with friends? Am I missing something here? Could it maybe be that the servers can't handle the demand of the players needs in any aspect? As far as I know there were problems in the beggining also, not all people got theri cars, and that was before the multiple gifting glitch.

Just so we are clear "_"

LOL, perfect, and funny because it is true.

People are just jealous, I really think, because they can't (or more likely, won't) do the glitch, and they don't get to drive the awesome cars some are.

See this is the sort of thing that really does get aggravating.

No it's not true at all though, I wont do the glitch because it ruins the game for me! Not because I can't do the glitch (I know how to) but more because of the fact that as soon as I would get the car it wouldn't have that special feeling of actually working to get it like actually earning the car would have.

I gave away ten B day Glitched cars for nothing cuz I was tired of seeing people trying to rip others off for cars that are much harder to obtain. I told everyone that were B day cars, how else would I have four Miuras 2 Mark IV's and all the Nascars in multiples. I did the glitching cuz I work and am busy and just wanted to experience the game without spending my whole life playing.

Funnily enough I was planning on doing something very similar.
If the one car thing stays the way it is, I don't see it happening.

Then again, would giving away lots (and I mean lots) of cool cars just give certain people even more reason to moan?

Yes man you have soul, people like you only makes other people happy. If you have much cash and cars, you can share it with the community. Sharing is something people have missed so bad in this discussion. And it is soon christmas, man i forza community i was gifting millions of credits to less happy people.

Maybe this will help those who are more impaired from realizing the futility of their arguments.

Yes, they are mutually exclusive. One set of the population (exploiters) has no effect on the enjoyment level of another set (non-exploiters)

LOL, that's great.

I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for saying this but whatever.

As a new member I'm starting to see a trend here, and I think the real issue is that there are some people that get some kind of satisfaction from shaking their finger at others and proclaiming that they are on some kind of moral high ground because they use their "skills" in the game to grind and "earn cars the real way".

Fact: It doesn't take any skill to play Turbo Challenge over and over with a horribly overpowered car to grab a quick $36K. Stop pretending that it does. If you're doing this, guess what? You're "exploiting" the game for cash and XP.

Fact: No one here created the B-Day backdoor, Polyphony did. Polyphony stupidly didn't expect that $20 million dollar cars would drive people to create free accounts to acquire them. Stop blaming people for walking through a back door that is an obvious oversight (one of many) created by PD.

Fact: Berating a person's "skill level" just because they are taking this shortcut is totally unnecessary and foolish. Anyway, having some skills in this VIDEO GAME doesn't make you Alain Prost. The "skills" you've developed in game don't really translate to the real world. Keep that ego in check please.

Fact: You didn't hand out free copies of the game to everyone; you have no right to judge other people for enjoying the game their way.

Fact: No one is holding a gun to your head to trade with these dirty filthy exploiters. If you don't like what's going on, don't trade (and "earn" all of the cars yourself), or form a trading group of people that are "honest".

People went crazy when I did it like 60 posts in 5 minutes, it seemed like most of the community was down with it especially because I was honest about where they came from, no one gave me any crap I received more applaud than rotten fruit ;)

WORD, finaly a person that is connected with the real world outside "GT Life" For some people "GT" has become their life, and they think that if thet cheat in game, the cops will lock them up for life.

it's a fact, GT5 trading is really bad in many ways. PD hopefully you are looking on this thread right now. How hard is it to make a trading market on a game for god sakes? Come on now, stop being lazy and fix the marketplace please. Already working on GT6, you first need to work on fixing GT5 then you can move on to another project, period.

God I love how some people are saying they have to "grind" to get the cars they want so that's why the use the exploit.

First I don't care if anyone does use the exploit. Doesn't effect me wanting or not wanting to trade with them. I don't think it ruins to market. It could be frowned upon because it's cheating... BUT to say that you would otherwise have to "grind" to get the cars is ridicules. It's called playing the game, not grinding.

What? There is no trading market in the game. So how can they fix what's not there?

Were talking about the forum market place. You really got your facts mixed up.

Very well written.

Come on now, stop being lazy and fix the marketplace please.

Last time I turned on GT5 I saw no marketplace anywhere in the game. The marketplace is a thread made up on these forums. The game just offers the option to gift cars to friends. I highly doubt PD has any concern for the marketplace on GTP.

Well, you playing for sure, but grinding is just a term desicribing doing one race multiple time till you get bored and thinking of naked chicks instead of focusing on the race. The only thing thats motivates you from grinding is to getting money, but you dont think its fun. It is a differance between enjoyable playing, and booring playing. I prefer the first one, which do you perfer?

I'm a non-exploiter too and proud. :D
We are the REAL GT fans!

...they see me trollin'
Honestly, if people want to ruin the experience, fine.

That's why I often tended to offer higher value cars as well as offer multiple cars for just one that was worth a lot less in many of my trades.

There were a couple of guys who were like 'it's ok, 1 car for 1 car is fine' and I could respect that.
It wasn't a matter of bribery or anything, I just had spares so I figured what the hell? Spread the love.

If some feel it cheapens it, I don't really care. And neither do the guys who got to play with some new toys.

Open a window, go walk your dog, get some sun man. It's good for you.

Unless your idea of fun is grinding, non-stop, for 20 hours to get a '67 Ferrari P4. Because that is how long it takes of in-game time, not counting any breaks you want to take from pressing and holding X to do the American Championship Daytona race that gives 98k for 5 minutes. I mean come on man. Really now?

I've thought of naked chicks multiple times during races, but I still wouldn't call it grinding :D. Of course I prefer having fun and that's all I've had during every race.

It's all opinions and everyone is entitled to their own. I just don't like people speaking their opinion like it's a fact, when it's really not.

Everyone should put in their SIG if they are a exploiter or not, that way it's easy to tell who to trade with :P.

Could you cry just a little harder.. could you?

lol .. grinding is for losers not getting laid.

exploiting is for the rest of us who enjoy offline activities!

HAHA I just got jumped it looks like. If you couldn't tell it was a joke :D.

I highly doubt sitting in front of your TV making PSN accounts to get a birthday car in a video game will get you laid by the way.

Another funny thing is the statement in the first post "everybody will have the same car" Well if one is a real car enthusiast and core player they won't have the same cars, because all have different cars they like. Like me for instance, im very focused on japanese streetcars from the 80-90 and some american cars. I don't really mind all the stealth cars, enzos, mark IV, 20 million cars etc. If I have one of those "popular rare birthday cars" they are only for racing offline and winning cash, but I will never use them in public online driving. What does it matter which cars you have or not, aslong as you don't use them online? Techicnally we all have all cars, since all data is in our hdd :)

You know you can get other things from PD aswell on your birthday, the japanese are known for their "unusual" gifts :indiff:

Yeah I agree, plus the rooms I join in online have restrictions just like a actually race would have. So it doesn't matter to me if you got some fancy car by using a exploit or not.

If it has a happy ending, im in.

First of all, a person who can crack the savegame isn't a jerkoff, he is a person that deserves respect for his knowledge. Second, does I matter for you if he enjoyes the game in the way he likes? As long as hes driving cool in online racing, and don't use speedhack, wallhack etc, I see no problem if he has 500 million credits in his account or millions of tuning parts/paints.

Actually I can call them whatever I want, its my opinion. And to qualify my opinion, I have an advanced degree in computer science, and in my experience many of the people with "133t haxor" skills in hacking a savegame 1) couldn't program anything themself to save their life and 2) if they are worth a salt should be trying to make their own mark instead of exploiting others faults.

As for how it matters to me and others here is how. Its not like this whole game is single player and in its own little world like prior GT titles (excluding GT5P). Its a game that they introduced a gifting system (that I am SURE they figured out would be used for trading) and large online aspects of the game. So what does "hacking" that do? For the average player (not the 2% that sits here on GTP kvetching) it eliminates feelings of accomplishment when you finally win a special car (because everyone and their mother has it). And also the value of that car for trading purposes (if I spent 20mil on a car, I should be able to trade it for like 10 cars, for example). It gives in some cases poor low level players access to vehicles they can't handle totally screwing up races (I enjoy a good battle, not to go out there and shellacking everyone because they all can't handle their P4 of GT40). Those are big aspects of the game that are tossed out the window all for a few people who want to play it "their way". Its a very selfish view of the game.
