Any updates on your project?

The project is going well, and there is continuous upload of brands and models except the last two weeks when i had to stop the upload so the web designer completes some important tasks so the technical part is finished and there will be no further modifications making the upload, the only thing i dedicate my time.

I was thinking that some day (not very far away from now) i'll set up a free browse day so everyone interested can take a peek inside. I am waiting for your opinion about this.
Technically speaking, that can be achieved and the day will be pre-announced with a week before.

just visited, searched for Moretti, and nothing relevant came up. seems like a junk website, to be honest.

Everyone with his opinion.
Have you read the about section ? http://www.all-car-brands.com/about-us
The 20.000 car brands are in my computer and everything will be uploaded daily until completed.
If i would have a magic wand i would upload all the files (more than a million) in an instant ...

Bu the way, how can you jump into a conclusion by visiting just two pages: home and a Moretti search result.

PS: Check for any uploaded brand. Check all the brands uploaded until the last brand starting with A.
If you find all the models listed in any other website or if you find anywhere else all this brand listed, you may have a point...

If you bothered reading the previous posts, you would have been aware of that !

Hi.

The encyclopedia can now be browsed for free and will stay that way.
Nothing has been uploaded lately, but will resume uploading on Monday.

Feel free to contribute with more photos or info in the comment section.:

PS: Use choose category to browse the uplodad brands.

Needs a bit of polishing. Which I'm sure can wait until the entire database has been uploaded.

Also, the number of car brands is different on the hone page as opposed to the "About" section.

Home: 150,000
About: 100,000

Not bad though. Keep it up 👍

Thanks.
It's an estimation based on the number of folders and files. I numbered only the letter A and calculated, reporting to the total number of files/folders

PS: Web design could be better, maybe will hire a pro team later on....

I have a book that contains every car ever made from 1886-1982. It's 688 pages long.

Thanks for sharing. That's an interesting book.
However i find hard to believe that there are all the cars. I calculated that i would have used 20.000 pages if i had continued to publish all he volumes.

this books are really good. There is always a possibility that i missed one ogf the brands or models and the multiple sources are always welcome.

PS.
I can only imagine the passion and enthusiasm of the book's author. This type of projects are always driven by enthusiasm and not by "money".

I meant to say "companies". The book contains every car company from 1886-1982.

My feedback....

I think it's a great project, and the scale of the task is enormous, especially for one researcher, and certainly considering that the researcher is handling the website side of things too. Obviously it needs work, but I'm sure you are well aware of what needs doing, and what you'd like to do, so I'm not going to comment too much on that, the navigation is the thing I think needs the most work. All I would say, is that publicising it, or making claims about the content (including stuff that isn't actually there (yet)) won't really benefit you until most of it is online, as mostly you'll only get bad feedback, and I know that can be pretty demotivational.

Actually I had a question. I see you are using Joomla to generate the website? Does this mean you have to make a page for each car and give it the correct tags so it shows up in navigation? Or is there a quicker way of importing the information? Does it exist in computer in files or folders, or in an actual database?

Thanks for the tips.
Regarding the website, i am not involved in the web design development, i only upload the information.
The only point of sharing my work before more of it is online is getting some feedback.

It is in a structure of files and folders and no database, in the real sense of the word, and all the info needs to be uploaded manually.

Hi everyone.
Since the website designer did a lame job i had to drop this idea.
I've evaluated my options and contacted a serious web design company which gave an answer and a good solution but an expensive one so i had to think to another option.
Most of the people interested did not like the idea of printed books, because they could not be updated so after long discussions i have found out that making the car encyclopedia available as an eBook on Amazon can be updated and the people who previously purchased it can download the updated version without having to pay again for it again, i think that this is a good choice.
Another important thing is that the price is lower and there is no postal shipping cost.

So:
"The most complete car encyclopedia" will be available as an eBook via Amazon and after all the volumes will be published there. The updated versions will be downloaded for free by the previous buyers and all the volumes will be updated once a year.

The first volume is already available and a preview of the books can be seen without a purchase.
Since the number of pages in each volume does not affect the printing cost, the volumes will be covering more brands. The letter A will be split in only two volumes, the first one covering the car brands starting with numbers and the ones starting with letter from Aa to Am, with a total of 567 car brands and 1915 car models.
