The New King of Racers? FM4

Sorry, it's just hard to tell in text. Cheers.

No worries. It was easy to do. I still find it funny when people override game default settings just to have the higher "number" because they think it's better. That just isn't the case. It's better to go on a case by case basis depending on how it looks to you, not a one native setting fits all.

He knew that, but he didn't like getting schooled.

>FM4 is an incomplete game comparing it to GT5,ISR and maybe the original TOCA series, the lack of diferent racing enviroments and situations makes it incomplete.

When did you have access to all the features in Forza 4?

>In graphics,Premiums(even if are just 200)are in superior quality league

When did you have access to playing the final version of Forza 4?

Physics,Well Rfactor,I Racing 2.0

When did you have access to playing the final version of Forza 4?

Lack of 1080p,I know that is 360's

360 does native 1080p, so it's not the 360's fault. They want 720p 60fps solid.

I know this because I own an LG LED and playing FM3 on 720p makes look GT5 far more superior

That isn't the case for everyone though.

I pretty sure that this will be a problem when I'll be playing FM4 but there is no solution for it.

PC racing games,

All PC sim racing games stomp racing console games. Next.

Na, see, Forza has this feature where you can paint any car any color you want any time, and it doesn't even cost credits. So unrealistic. I don't know what they were thinking there...

You'll be telling me next that I can design any pictures on it too. Lol.

I specifically said I don't

I think they've got that one covered... It's prbably changed every time your car is fixed up after the race. Oil flatrate, anyone?

Sadly, i think FM3 is past its prime... The communnity stuff really made the game come into itself, and that is pretty much gone now. Anyways, congrats on your purchase, you'll at least be able to prepare a little garage to get a headstart in FM 4 👍

Does anyone know if the cars transfer over to FM4? Was that the case for previous FM games?

What you guys are talking about? It looks WORSE than GT5P. Yes it has good graphics but no way it looks (as) realistic (as GT5) and surely it doesn't look beautiful at all. Number of polygons and size of textures doesn't mean it looks realistic or beautiful - today it's oblivious. I have to say I'm not impressed at all. No night racing, no weather, cockpit view is worse than GT5 or Shift. (but sounds are good and car list is perfect as always in forza) Still a decent game, glad I have XBOX360, but GT is really for me (if only PS3 was more powerful...) Forza has a "artificial" feeling to me, while GT is a sort of "handmade" game. (has a soul, not just the ambitions)
BTW - compare GT5 photo-mode shots to Forza 4, GT wins.

Jerome not all your cars will but Dan said that the more cars you have you will get some in the new game.

Alucard. Lol.

Dunno what videos you've seen, but as far as I can judge from the Youtube videos, it looks very, very good. And, due to the fact that there are only premium cars, no blocky shadows and stuff, I'd even say it might very well look better than GT5.

Racing at different times of day has been confirmed, so you might want to not be so quick to rule out night racing.
And how is the cockpit view wirse thhan S2U and GT5? What about it? Please elaborate.

Thanks for that answer Spagetti! I wonder if they will adjust the economy so if you play offline and dont run a shop you can eventually buy the really expensive cars for career mode.

I've seen the video of Top Gear track and I prefer this than GT5

I'm not saying that graphics is BAD. (especially when it's 60fps locked), but It lacks "WOW" feeling. I think GT has a superior lightning system, and better looking shaders (they are more realistic). Look at that red Enzo, I don't think it will look like that in those conditions. Looks bit unnatural to my eyes. Maybe someone make a FM4 vs GT5comparison between cockpit views. To me in GT you like in the car while in Forza its still watching a game. (with many polygons and hi-res textures)

Night racing in FM4? Cool! :)

As far as I've seen, the game doesn't give a direct port of your cars but gives you cars that it thinks suits your style of garage.

That was directed at Jerome

As for those Mac F1 photos. The body looks awe inspiring, the rims still look wrong...

What about the rims looks wrong?
Here's a pic of a real McLaren F1:

and for reference, McLaren F1 in FM4's apparent photomode:

Different angle and different lighting but to me the FM4 photomode shot looks identical to the real life counterpart so again, what looks wrong?

p.s If you want to know why the rims don't look right, look here.

They look right, they don't in the current screen shots and videos.

Don't know why but first couple of Italia shots (in desert) looks like beyond anything, while others are not so impressive (especially cockpit).

Man....game looks soo good its come down to petty nit picking, wish I could travel into the future to play this beast of an upcoming game. Man I can only imagine what they could do if Microsoft came out with a new xbox with updated hardware.

458 Italia screen shot has 2D background picture. You can see it at from 1080p image.

:) I see they've carefully blended some swaying 3D grass/plants, but yep, it's clearly a large photo texture, although they may have put that on some basic 3D geometry, it still looks a bit weird, but good in photos!

And yes, the rims do look a fraction off, they aren't quite metallic enough, and are slightly not a normal alloy silver painted kind of colour, plus if you are being picky, the indicator lenses are still not quite right in colour etc..

But honestly, it's good enough, I'm sure they may be able to get it just perfect, but I think the resource is better employed elsewhere..

Whoops.I'll take my words about photomode back for a while. But it's still nowhere near game-play graphics
I know, and I also enjoy the travel photography mode in GT5

GT5 is not a homogeneous product, has many serious flaws that we all know, 80% of cars are standard with all known limitations, and there are certainly impressive circuits but also circuits that are a serious disappointment ( Laguna Seca, Cape Ring ...etc )

Night racing and weather must be be confirmed in FM4, and would not need to be present in all circuits, all this would do to my most complete game of the generation, I am not a extreme graphic whore, the cockpits look very nice and the scenarios also .

Agreed. Personally, I won't even bother with those "but GT5 does look better for some reason that I can't even name" posts. My guess? There's no GT logo at the bottom of the picture, so to some folks, it looks worse instantly.

In the real picture, you can see faint reflected colours in the rims.

In the FM4 picture, they look dull, lifeless and completely out of place. It's the same in the other pictures they have of cars in the hanger or warehouse to what ever it is.

If anything, the rims popping out like they do just show how much better the rest of the game looks. The better and more realistic it looks, the more obvious the flaws.

You might need to get your eyes checked. Again, outside of the different angle and different lighting (difference in time of day + FM4 shot is out in the open where real car is in a street) it still it looks spot on.

I'm just not buying that.

You sound like my wife choosing curtains.

There is a hell of a lot of butthurt in this thread. Good lord. :ill:

That F1 in black looks sexy. And the Kia Cee'd! :D
