Had a chance to try this car out and honestly, it's not that bad. It's front-wheel drive and you have to manage the throttle a lot, but it handled surprisingly well and for as much downforce as it had I was reaching up to 350 Km/h going into the first chicane at lemans, which is pretty good for a car that's hovering around 650PP stock. The biggest issues I had were with the brakes being relatively easy to lock up, the stock suspension bounces the car around and affects the cornering angle (Especially noticeable in the Porsche Curves section and going up to the Dunlop Chicane at the start of the lap) and how easy it is to light the tires up in a big plume of smoke.

Overall, it's worthy of a spot in my garage. I just need a good set-up for it, because I'm a complete lunkhead when it comes to tuning cars.

Slap on some racing soft tires, and mess around with suspension and Limited Slip Differential, and it's actually pretty fast.

I found the Nissan GTR LMP very hard to control. It wasn't easy to turn the car.

For example, the first two corners at Le Mans i managed only at 70 km/h.It was until
after several restarts that i realized that you have to turn earlier into the corner.
It was very difficult, but it is definitely something to get used to.Because the car
handles so much better with the FWD, especially when driving through fast bends and when braking hard.

I managed to get some better response by increasing the steering sensitivity and trying out
the car on the Nordschleife. It goes around corners like the clappers when you finally get used to it.

I rated 3 though, for me the car drives weird and looks weird, but it is not a bad car.
Driving an LMP that is FWD can take some getting used to, but it's a lot of fun and gives you a challenge.

Its definitely a challenge! I love it though. I actually like how you have to use the braking points that you would for a GT car. Its really the perfect LMP for my driving style. Still getting used to perfecting the Porsche Curves with all the downforce, but I love it. I need to actually sit down and develop a tune for it. I did a couple of races on the other circuits of the WEC and its really good there as well.

I doubt that a shorter 1st gear would do any good for this car. There's very little downforce at low speeds to help push the front tyres down and with the increased wheel torque of a shorter gear most of the power would probably go to waste as wheelspin.
I want the lower first gear for engine braking. :)

Well I finally bit the bullet & I did a invalid lap to get the GTR LMP. Since I cruised around Le Sarthe I did a 7 minute lap. This car purrs so nice low revs & mid revs.

Why? Just use the brakes as they are... there really isn't THAT much of a difference in braking distance with this car as any other, it's a bit longer sure and you absolutely have to be braking in a straight line so no trail braking but that is not something you really should be doing in racing cars anyway.

It's a surprisingly twitchy car, the suspension is very stiff. However, because of that, it gives you an amazing sense of speed and it really does need maximum concentration if you want to get the most out of it. Oh, and it sounds fantastic, best-sounding car in the game in my opinion alongside the LM55 and the Subaru VIZIV.

It's also pretty fast, despite its power.

Brilliant design. I wont be surprised if other big teams try to do something like it in near future models.

I agree, but this car and design has been 4 years in the making. It will definitely be awhile before we see anything like it. A complete redesign would be needed to implement anything from the Nissan to the other cars.

Audi has a budget of 252 million USD per year. And they are due for a new prototype as the R18 is getting old. I won't be surprised if they incorporate tunnels into that car, even if they are smaller than the ones in the Nissan. :)

The only problems this car has is trail braking and very low speed corners.

Twitchy and with a very slight tendence towards understeer... Just the way I like my ridiculously fast cars. Turn-in is surgically precise.

I have to say tho, the view from the cockpit is quite awkward... I've found that a lot of times I don't have a visual on the apex of the corner, and that's annoying when you have to contend with insta-DQ cones.

You could try the hood view. It's actually a good view as it's quite high up and gives a great view of the corners.👍

@sk8er913 Audi has that budget because they have had a new car every year since 2012. The R18 of this year has a completely new chassis from even last year. The only thing that got carried over was the engine. I can't wait for Le Mans!

That's what I did, I used the hood view to learn the track and then did my golden lap in the GTA challenge from cockpit view. Still annoyed by the fact that I had to do that, tho.

The Audi R18 is essentially a brand new car for this year, the only part which is old is the name which is permanently going to be R18 for all Le Mans Prototypes now to avoid legal issues with Renault.

I have a hard time understanding how this car works, after many tries I only managed to get a silver in round 4, so I got the free car and the prize money, this is it for me folks, enjoy this round.

I personnally think Nissan should have called this the Altima LMP!

Think about it.

An Altima is FWD.

If it wins LeMans, Nissan can profit so much more on the Altima name. The only family sedan in its group to compete at the highest Motorsport... It would give so much more "credibility" to the brand.

Something that Toyota cannot do for the Camry (except being in NASCAR), and that Honda can't even thing bout for the Accord...

Under the GT-R name, this would be just another win for Godzilla, in a new configuration.
Furthermore, it's kinda wrong because: would you want to see a FWD Godzilla being sold?

In conclusion:
With the GTR name, Nissan has everything to lose
With the Altima name, it has everything to gain...

Tom Brady has notoriously poor arm strength; try deflating your wheel below 12 psi.
Sorry I forgot to place two quotes from page three.

Only driven it in the Time Trail. But when you slowly get used to the car, it actually makes fun to drive it and is very challenging.

But I swear those stupid cones DQ me sometimes without touching them. That's why I can't get under 3:33:026..
Anyone else having trouble with those stupid cons?

I'm not able to get on and try it till Friday, but after watching videos of it on the YouTubes, it looks like one hell of a fun drive. And people saying that it's kind of like the Deltawing, (It drives different from what you'd expect and requires that you change your driving style) makes me even more excited because I love unique driving cars. Also the sound is so good, (those exhaust pops ) I've been listening to just the sound of the car without video. Still listening to it right now!

*I do wish there was a base model version though like the Peugeot...

I was stuck on 3:33.xxx for what seems like forever yesterday because I swear the cones blow over sometimes from the wind of passing them :banghead: (and don't even get me started about the OOB lines)

Finally broke into 3:32.4xx territory and now I can see another 2sec in my run easy...

If I could just get those damn cones to stop falling over.

The bad news is... it under-steers like crazy and the weight distribution is a disaster.

The good news is... the under-steer is mostly through low speed corners, and there's no nasty surprises when trying to power out of a corner like there sometimes is with the Audi Diesel LMP's. It's fast in a straight line too, reaching 346 km/h at the end of the first Le Mans straight, and beating out the Toyota TS030 by a good 15 km/h down said straight.

It has more pros than cons so I'm giving it a 4/5. Full credit to Nissan for trying a new idea in the racing industry. I hope that they do well at Le Mans, but it is unfortunately more likely that they will fizzle out like McLaren Honda has in Formula 1 this year...

Have you tried ductape :sly:

It took some real effort, but finally broke into the 32 second range. I need more practice on this track, specially through the Porsche curves and of course get over the fear of ruining the lap at the Ford chicanes. All in all, this lap is 1.6 secs faster than the previous one I posted so I'm happy with it.
