The Obutto oZone...

The Obutto is so ugly. The Playseat Evo looks much nicer.

From a Playseat owner I would go for an Obutto over my Playseat if I had to do it again.

It has a much nicer seat(I know, see post above) and the design is better with there being no centre support getting between you and the pedals.

Tho I will say I think my Playseat would store better/easier.

What is the regular price of the Obutto in the US? Also is there anyway to order directly from Obutto without going through a reseller?

I am only seeing the option to order from a reseller called Main Performance PC and the price is listed at $479

Any comments from US Obutto owners would be great

Thanks!

that's the only distributor of the Obutto, you have to buy from them.

Thanks for the response. I actually emailed Chris from Obutto and he confirmed that I would need to go through Main Performance PC. He did offer to sell me one directly from his office but shipping alone would be nearly 400.

Hi everyone. I am interested in buying the obutto seat, but right now it's about $470. It seems pretty expensive to me. In the reviews I read, I thought I heard people said they paid about 330-360 range for it. do you guys think it's gonna come down in price? For those who have the seat or knows, how much did you pay yours? What's a good price for it?

In Nov. they were $329 + $95 shipping = $424 (what I paid). People were freakin' over the shipping rate and bad mouthin' Obutto over it. The box is like2' x 2' x 4' and weighs 110 lbs , whaddya expect ? Anyway they wised-up and now give you a single price with FREE shipping, LOL. The price did go up about $40 or $50 actually but is still a bargain that I doubt will come down. In fact you better get it now before it goes up again like it has twice in the last 18 months.

Thanks Scotty for the info :) So if you had to do it again you would still go with the same seat?

What people don't know is the shipping rate is even after a 60% discount! The size and the weight make for a not so typical delivery for FedEx. A 32" LCD TV or CD this isn't!

I am much happier with my Obutto. The PlaySeat murders your left foot because of the steep angle. The seat angle needs to be back a little more. It also needs a lot more lumbar padding. Yeah, I have a Tony Stewart Edition, it's my son's now.

i believe with the higher demand in cockpits since GT5 came out resulted in an increase in price for the obutto i give it a few months before price starts to go lower :( when i bought mine begining of last year i got lucky $390 shipped

Hey guys I am thinking of ordering a obutto instead of the rennsport wheelstand. Since it looks like they are out of stock and arriving on the 10th, what are my odds (given past experiences) of them actually shipping it within a week of the 10th?

I do not want another 1+ month delay like I am currently experiencing with my GT2 clubsport package.

Go to mainperformancepcDOTcom and call the customer service tel # on upper right side of page. Ask the guy if they are in yet. If they are then order it. If they are not in yet wait a week and call back. When they are in stock they ship next day.

Thanks guys. I contacted them and they said next week they should arrive for all pre-orders. First come first serve.

Hopefully my order counts as a pre-order!

Edit: Now shipped with tracking number!!

Got mine, the box is a moving hazard....dragged it indoor and basically unpacked it at the foyer. The assembly is simple enough with a 1/2" wrench and a 6mm allen key. I really like the car seat with reclining and fore-aft adjustment, and the adjustable shifter height. Not 100% convinced with the pedal position, I think I got it set at the lowest level with the furtherest reach and I think the at-rest position for my feet are a bit high. Going to try to drive an enduro in GT5 to see how fatiguing that is. I do notice that my brake modulation needs to change a bit since the pedal is no longer sitting on the carpet and has a bit less play and more sensitive to minute input.

Its huge though, going to have to find way to put it away when I don't play it......a bit much for apartment living...lol

Well, after waiting for my RennSport Wheel Stand I caved in and ordered the Obutto yesterday. I can't wait for it to arrive early next week. Now to arrange my living room. ;)

To share some experience, I am using clamps for both the shifter and wheel, and even in the past when I clamp them to my desk(a rather big Ikea desk at that) I didn't have issue with wheel coming loose from the desk(I've actually moved the desk a few times using the G25). And its no different using the Obutto thus far. But I've found on the pedal tray that the G25 pedal set still tend to move when running in H-gate mode. So yesterday I drilled out 3 of the 6 mounting holes(really didn't need all 6) and hard mounted the pedal and the difference is night and day. Its nice and sturdy now and I found that I am miss shifting a lot less in GT5 and was able to match my sequential time much closer now(~2 sec around Nordschleife back to back). I really like this seat setup....

I remember when the Obutto used to cost $273 for the base model... :(

This is one of the best (and best looking), most affordable commercial cockpits out there and I really want one but it's a shame to see their manufacturing costs increase like that.

Yeah I don't like the price was different from when I first saw it years ago, but I had little reason at the time to migrate my setup to TV. I guess I paid the price for that. But considering how much Playseat costs and my dislike for the single post design, and also how other ones without the single post cost, Obutto still came out as my choice...

If I live in a place with more "work space" I might have gone the way of building my own, this is just easier...

I did remember seeing the price Coxis mentioned($273) back in I think 2008(OP of this thread mentioned $245). Even if shipping is $120 it still adds to $393....Now with shipping its $479. Its not a small increase. Though all things considered I think the price is not unreasonable. Its a sturdy piece of kit. Maybe the price is now more reflective of its market worth, consider Playseat costs 300+ GBP, for what looks to me to be an inferior design, but the price has gone up not by an unsubstantial amount....

I ordered the Obutto yesterday with the tabletop...I've been looking for a stand for a few weeks, but really want to invert my pedals, so decided to get a cockpit

Can you post a pic once you get them inverted? What pedals do you have?

I am waiting for my GT2 CSPs and I just cant picture in my head how inverting them will be comfortable... I'm 6'4".

Hey I'd love to hear some comments and maybe see some pics of the obutto with the table top.

I'm looking for a chair right now and I want to know if an Obutto with the table top is good enough to replace a computer desk.

I want to use my cockpit as my full time computer desk if I could.

Just like you I plan on using the Obutto as my computer desk too so hopefully less clutter. We shall see! :)

My question is, how does that massive piece of acrylic mount to the wheel plate? I'd like to try a DIY before spending a hundred bucks if it can be avoided.

Kid Krinkle: I have the G27 pedals...I'll have to figure out how to invert them, i've been reading some ideas on here about it, but definitely want to do it for sure

Booey: I'll definitely post pics and give feedback on it once it arrives and I get it assembled...Just got a tracking number, it was shipped today

DaveTheStalker: The tabletop attaches with velcro on the underside attached to the wheel plate or you clamp your wheel down on it, from what i've read

Well just ordered it, I received an Email from them, They said they should have them in stock by Febuary 17th! GetGadget for Canada that is.
