The Obutto oZone...

I can't wait. Hope it's not hard to set up. I'll have to find a steel bar and drill some holes to invert the pedals.

I'm considering whether to do this too. I've got most tools, just no welder anymore.

Are there any pictures or instructions from people who have done it with the oZone? I'm not sure I want to engineer it myself.

What are the benefits anyway, besides making it look more realistic? Does it really feel different and better to drive? Do you have to put something under your feet to get the height and stuff correct?

Sorry to resurrect this thread to the front page, but I just received my obutto and had a concern.

As I was putting it together, I noticed some orange oxidation (rust!) on some of the pieces, especially in the tubes where the wheel support and monitor stands slide into.

When I went back and checked the box, there was a tear in the bottom corner, and it seems like water may have gotten in the package and dried.

The rust wipes off with a rag, but I'm concerned about the long term.

Has anyone else had rust issues over the life of their Obutto?

Chibana - thanks for the info. I guess I'll email Obutto and get their opinion on it. Maybe I'll see what I can do with some silicone spray inside the tubes to prevent any further oxidations.

Lazjet - I really like the way you used the Obutto pedal tray to reverse mount your pedals! Did you remove the rubber piece before mounting the pedals to tray? Also, what kind of hardware and size of hole did you drill in the frame??

👍👍👍👍

No worries on the rust man, mine was the same way when I got it. They come over on a slow boat and I'm sure condensation occurs at some point.

As long as it's dry now she'll be fine with the wall thickness they use!

Is Main Performance PC the only place to get an Obutto in the US right now? The price has really gone up on these and shipping is a killer.

Does anyone have this cockpit with the Buttkicker BKA300 attached to it?

If so, how did you attach it? Pics would be great, but an explanation would work too.

I have the Obutto oZone on the way and am very interested in getting a transducer to get even further immersed in the game. The BKA300 seems the most available and best bang for your buck from what I've read, just wondering if it is compatible with the Obutto.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I have recently ordered and received two Obutto Ozone Cockpits from the Canadian supplier which is located in Calgary (getgadget.ca).

I dealt with Ronald, and I am extremely pleased with his service.
The cockpits arrived timely but unfortunately, 1 of the seats had a slight fabric problem.
I requested with Ronald for an exchange and he readily agreed.

The exchange went through with minimal hassle and the best part is, Ronald replies his e-mails PROMPTLY!!
Often times, his replies are within minutes. He even replies in the evening or at night which is superb as I did not have to wait "a business day" for a question I had.

TLDR version: For those who have reservations on making a purchase online, I say purchase with confidence from Getgadget. I am well pleased with Ronald's service and I will not hesitate to purchase from him again.

Obutto must have raised their price, or the shipping price went up, or a little of both. I JUST bought one last Friday. It was $329 + $110 shipping, but since I live in Seattle where they ship from, it was only $329 + $25 will-call pickup charge. Looks like they added $40 from the total shipped price of last week. Glad I bought when I did.

The Obutto is nice and solid with a nice finished look to it with a nice seat included. Looks good in my living room.

I recommend piecing together some of your own tech for half the price of the Buttkicker. I have one of these attached to a plank of wood (1inch x 6inch). I countersunk the holes in the wood so I could simply use the two bolts that bolt down the rear of the Obutto seat. This set-up does a fine job vibrating the entire frame. Feels very good.

I power the shaker with this:

You can probably use a smaller amp if you want but this works great. All you do is run some RCA audio cables from your receiver or tv to the low level inputs on the amp. It has built-in low frequency crossover. There are two speaker wires that stick out the back of the amp. Connect these to the bass shaker with some speaker-wire and you are finished. With the amp you can fine tune your experience easily with gain and frequency adjustments.

The shakers are so cheap I screwed a second one to the insides of my couch for other games and movies.

I love my Obutto by the way....very solid and looks good.

Thanks David, but unfortunately you're too late. I already have the ButtKicker - came in two days ago. Also just got the Obutto. The ButtKicker mounts directly to the holes under the seat mount that are used to mount the shifter table. The holes in the base of the ButtKicker are exactly the same distance apart as the mounting holes on the Obutto. All you need are two bolts that are slightly smaller than the ones supplied with the cockpit. Works like a charm!!

Well, that's just awesome! Good for you. It's a rare bonus when stuff like that happens. Enjoy the Buttkicker. I'm sure it kicks butt. Zing. Boom. It's a 300w shaker!

Anyway, enjoy your set-up. Anyone else, who hasn't looked into adding something like this...well, i can't recommend it enough.

Beyond rumble strips and crashing there is an effect I've noticed that is particularly awesome: Since the frequency of effects increases at speed, or put this way- road irregularities are passing beneath your car at an ever increasing pace, it created a sensory illusion where the car feels lighter and truly fast. If you've ever been on a snowmobile at speed---that's how it feels. very cool.

Also since the low frequencies responsible for activation of a bass shaker are also found in much of the music that might be playing in game, it's like your car has some serious speakers in it.

Can somebody with a Fanatec wheel that is hard mounted take a couple pictures of the mounting? I have the Obutto and have ordered the GT2. I printed out the drill template, I can locate it on centerline, but not sure how far forward or aft to place it without seeing the wheel. It looks like the wheel mount support tubes are in the way so I was wanting to see some pics of a completed install so I know what I am dealing with.

Thanks

.

Here are a couple of pictures of my PWTS mounted on the obutto. Note the holes in the wheel are not centered on the centerline of the wheel so you want to offset them a bit when mounting. Also make sure your bolts are not too long. I have a couple lock washers on there as well.

How do I just insert pictures here and forgo attachments?

Hey lazyjet, the wheel mounting plate appears to lean down towards the seat. Is that correct or is it parallel to the floor? And did you modify the angle ?

Thanks,
Scotty

thats just how it came for me, i did not mod it

^ you're crazy. The Playseat does not look better in my opinion. And it has that annoying piece between your legs. No thanks.

Here I just upped a shot to PhotoBucket. I'm on my phone right now and can't paste images.

Used IMG code in the PB app

I'm planning on doing this with plywood. Does the pressboard flex at all? How many U bolts did you use? I only see 4. I was thinking about 6. 2 in the front, two in the middle (where yours are) and two in the back. Is this overkill? What size (weight limit) castors are those?

Thanks!!

Hi.

I´m interested in to buy one of this cockpits, but I need just the parts showed in this image only (without the TV and keyboard stands):

c46d5200.jpg

Do you know if it´s possible to buy it without these two parts?.

And one more question:

I saw in a review the surfaces comes not drilled. I suposse G25/G27 wheel can be fifted solid without holes for screws, but, are the pedals?.

Thanks in advice.

No. Those parts come in the box. If you don't need them, you don't use them. I'm not using mine. Just put them in a closet in case I ever decide to use them in the future.

Hehe when I saw the Obutto I had to laugh as it uses the exact same seat that I have as my PC chair(bought it at an online auction site many years ago) It is a VERY comfy seat to sit in and much more comfortable than my Playseat.

My PC chair in a fairly old pic.
