I am playing the final "gold" build and I started with the Clio cup at the weekend. Career is not locked.
I could get pole easily and won one main race at Donnington by 27 seconds.
I was disappointed by the lack of challenge with pro handling and no assists. It really did ruin my enjoyment.
I'm now almost done in GT 5 in the Ginetta junior and it's been largely the same story. Pole is almost a certainty and the only reason I'm currently 2nd in the championship with 2 rounds left is due to some mistakes that have cost me points.
I have enjoyed career so far but the difficulty level has seen me load up Assetto Corsa for challenging races.
Haven't tried the likes of GT3 yet though.
AC has better or faster AI? I just got it and they seemed pretty slow, but I have limited amount of races with only a couple of cars.

So , we can skip the karts , Clio ,Ginettas , Formula A in career mode and go directly to GT3 for a challenge ?
Good to know ,so no time to waste .

This scaling lark is a real disappointment. I understand the thinking. But progressing through easier categories to get to the challenging stuff makes little sense. All that time and effort on modelling the cars, setting the rules an regs for each class, physics an liveries.

Probably only see them once in a blue moon in a couple of months in an online lobby or one of the time trials if there's no real challenge in racing them in Career mode.

No career long rivalries then?. It's a shame if so. Especially when you consider that the people we are racing against in the lower categories should theoretically be the people we race against in the higher tiers, at least a couple of them should come up with us.

Maybe Lotus has a space for them all.

I'm going to be playing all teirs and have fun doing it . I think it will be a good chance to learn the tracks, cars and physics, and "wait for it " LEARN FROM THE AI theirs not many games you can that about . I know most of you are pro drivers (or think you are ) but think even the pros could learn something or the very least have fun

I'm not sure where I'll be starting my career but it will be no higher than Formula Rookie.

Well that's extremely disappointing. How the hell was this decision made? Hard for me to believe that with all the community involvement that nobody knew this was the case. I don't care how low the class is, 100% AI should be a challenge to even the best drivers. There's a difficulty slider for a reason. Man, that sucks.

I can't agree more. I do realize what they are trying to accomplish, that is, simulating what real world drivers might be like in a real series, and I can appreciate that. A newcomer to sim racing will also probably enjoy that experience as well, as they learn the cars and tracks for the first time and tend to make mistakes here and there and won't be severely punished by AI on their tale from start to finish. The problem with that is the scaling is a one size fits all approach that certainly won't work for the more experienced gamers. I would probably have taken a different approach and simply had a "recommended" or default AI level for the AI to simulate the skill level expected in a certain event but left the AI scaling the same in all events offline. 100% should = 100% at all times.

Like I said, I'm sure they will at least consider allowing you to have an option, if enough people bring this up. This is one of those things that got traction in the dev forums really late and only a few people voiced their opinion, so to the devs it probably seems like a small minority wanted this. A lot of times it's like this, where you have to make a strong case for your point before a change is considered to be implemented. It makes sense though, if everyone got their wish we would never release the game, but this is one of those that I wish would have been heard.

Where is the best place to voice this opinion so it's heard?

That sounds disappointing. Fortunately for me, I know for sure, 100% AI will kick my ass no matter what car or event I'm in.👍:)
Same here. I am of a very average skill level and always find a reasonably skilled Ai to be more than enough challenge for my abilities. The Ai handed my a** to me in the codies f1 games but I was constantly reading complaints from highly skilled drivers that the Ai was sub par.

Has it actually been confirmed that the AI is faster in higher tiers? Or is this another Gran Turismo 5 where people really did believe damage would unlock at level 40.
I need to test but probably won't be able to before the game is removed from my Steam Library. (All junior and Team members are losing access till May 7th)

Disappointed to hear about the lower tier a.i. perhaps they should have scaled it in relation to the skill level we enter at the beginning of the game ( rookie, amateur,or pro or whatever it is ).
'If' i find it too easy I'll try to even it out by running with full fuel or something.

I really can't get enough of this game. Every day I'm looking for vids or streams on YouTube and twitch lol. The wait is driving me crazy. This is everything I've wanted GT to be and more. I can't see myself returning to the GT series anytime soon.

The AI alone is one of the most exciting things about this game... Finally a title that will offer much more of a challenge!

Thumbs up for SMS for engaging with fans to make this game. I know of at least two developers who could learn a thing or two. From what SMS have been able to achieve.

Let's take it to Twitter...

I really hope this is addressed. I wonder if this is a simple fix or complicated one. They could do like Ive seen other sims do. Have it adjustable above 100%. I can tell you this, You know how you wonder sometimes if a game developer listens to what you say as far as constructive criticism? Well one thing is for sure, SMS we be at the top of my list of developers that listen. I bet you from just the videos that have been on youtube recently, that this has already been addressed. I have faith they will fix it.

I'll probably try out the AI by starting my career in the lower tiers and see how it goes
If it's too easy, I'll skip straight to my main series of interest: GT3, LMP2 and Endurance. AI on those shouldn't be as severely ramped down (or not at all) as on the lower tiers.

I can only hope then that enough complaints reach SMS and they provide an option to let out the 'AI ramping' part. As soon as that is patched in, I'll do a second zero to hero career using the series I haven't raced in yet to keep everything fresh.

Did you try the same races on solo to see if 100% is indeed 100%???

yeah man...I totally agree with you! and think that this is a 'community assisted' racing game...my view on that is that gamers helping the development of Pcars should have shouted really loud to avoid this to happen....man..all these racings games and there always something really disappointing about them....

On the other hand, everybody would complain how "unrealistic" it is, that the local GT4 drivers are as fast as the ones that are racing in the World Cahmpionship...
