The Rolex Sports Car Series /Help Plan Season 2!/

Cup race? They're showing the Clio Cup? Since when?

Oh, sorry, did you mean NASCAR? Ooops, I forgot about the existence of such a game...

Ya kno dey had da nationwide race on taday? Did any uv y'all catch it?

I watched some of the race earlier, recorded it. Not really big on the series IRL though. Not enough manufacturer involvement in DP for me.

 polarbear.

Seth, I wouldn't even watch Rolex for five seconds, if it weren't for GT. DP's flat out boring.

I liked rolex better when there where 20+ dp cars. The real rolex series mirrors this series. No one races dp. GT is flooded with entries. Somehow both championships are close. I love it.

I hope that DTM ties up with SuperGT and they make that the top class in Grand Am in the future. Wishful thinking but it may happen.

The rain came early and quick, not the best conditions for rwd cars. The lap times indicated this, i took pole in dry conditions but was no where near as good in wet. I stuck it out though and kept pressing hoping for a mistake or something, the audis were just way better in the rain. Wasnt much i could do really. Hopefully ill get to race next week as well.

I know this is a little off topic, but did you guys see Belle Island today? Action Express 1 2. Kind of like Peugeot 1 2 at Le Mans.

Yeah I finally got to watch the race. What a coincidence. I like the liveries the Action Express guys were running today. Better than the one they usually run in my opinion. I wish they would run in that livery for the rest of the series.

I was only two tenths off your time in qualifying. I know it would have been closer had there been no rain for the race. But I think tire wear would have decided it if it were dry. I might have been able to get closer to your time because I screwed up Mulsanne corner. I think it may have cost me a half a second because I broke too early. That turn is tricky to get right at times. Especially with only 1 hot lap. The tires are only good for that out lap and that hotlap. So if you go too fast on your outlap you ruin the tires and lose that precious grip to go with the tires at their peak on the qualifying lap. That's an issue I seem to notice I have to get to the bottom of. I think if you pit when I did though, you could have done better. The track got wet too fast, and I figured that would happen, which is why I didn't hesitate to pit so early for inters. That's something that happened when I ran the Corvette at Monza for a win. Pitting the right time for the right tires really gets you going.

Both of are series need the live video player that they have in the NASCAR series

Polar, Kevin only beat me, because I thought his tires would overheat. Surely his tires would've overheated, if there had've been a dry line. But, I think Storm and Nirvana could possibly have switched to softs sooner, and also tried to catch Kevin, if there had've been a dry line.

Meh, oh well, it's in the past.
Switched to softs? What, at the end? There was still enough water on the track to warrant sticking with inters, and it wasn't like you guys were pulling away towards the end either. When I mentioned last night about the lap times being competitive, I actually meant in general, not situational. If nobody made mistakes, at all, the field in GT would have been closer than it turned out because the lap times were pretty similar. Unfortunately, mistakes happened, and me and Nirv (Polar too) managed to make the most crucial mistakes.

In fairness to Nirv, he probably should've gotten 4th, but we were talking a lot on Skype and I mentioned how I was going to pit and he followed me in. He didn't have to, but us Brits like comradery regardless of manufacturers, but his tyres were lasting better than mine, and he was much better in the wet than I was, in terms of race pace. Not as consistent, mind, but his wet laps were faster than mine on average.

Don't watch me.... This was a really embarrassing race for me... Plenty of solo spins, and don't even get me started on that final chicane! And I think I may have to take a look at my brake pedal, or how well it's plugged in. I wouldn't brake for the musalane straight chicanes or the final chicane sometimes, and I believe the game said "NO abs on 1 for you! Your going hard core with 0 abs!!!" I know I had it on 1 but it didn't kick in sometimes!

I noticed. After my unwise decision to stay out an extra lap on inters (although fair play I only got out ahead of you due to you yielding to Storm after ramming him by accident) and after your performance at Monza I thought you would have been destroying me. I could've beaten Storm too if I weren't so comfortable with the mini convoy we made that I pitted early just to pit with him xD

If there's a dry line, you'd just move off the racing line to preserve the wets, surely. I'd also like if there was a track temperature factor.

Yeah, comradery... by pulling away straight after that fated pit. Although in the last stint, up until I made mistakes, I was catching you at 6 secs a lap

LOL its still a race, mate. I wasn't going to afford to let you get too close on the last stint. :D

But yeah, I did kinda bugger off at one point, but I actually meant the whole thing about staying close to each other, helping out with letting each other know where the braking point was, when we were going to brake, letting the other pass when we'd had to take the corner cut to save ourselves, not getting in each other's way.

That's why I was comfortable. In however many laps it was, only one tiny nudge. I regret that after the 1 lap race :grumpy:

Speaking of Laguna, how's everyone else looking? I've feeling quite comfortable with my times and my car, and I've definitely improved since the last time I ran Laguna back in pre-season.

I haven't had a chance to test yet. Work is keeping me away. Luckily tomorrow is my day off. :sly:

Thankfully Laguna Seca won't have the rain. I am still having nightmares.:scared:

I was screaming "this is a ****ing nightmare" at the TV during the race. I was actually thankful for the rain after, because I notice You and Ant were faster than me in the dry.

Just to add my say in this... You can't thank me, but, I did sorta notice, that the only tracks where it doesn't really rain, when you put the race weather settings at 25% and 5 changeability are Suzuka and Nürburgring 24h. Monza and Le Mans, it seems like, with those settings, IT'S GOING TO RAIN, despite what the changeability says.

Next season, I suggest we fiddle about with these settings. Start at 0%, and put the changeability at 3 for Monza and Le Mans, (since it is almost GUARANTEED TO RAIN) and 7 for Suzuka and, if we go there, Spa (since it actually is very unpredictable weather.) Le Mans seemed overly predictable. :grumpy:

Yea I couldn't gain any ground in the wet. I was focusing too much on not crashing every corner.

who agrees with me that we should have someone make a livestream account so we can stream are races on the web

Eh, unless that person doesn't mind being in the "Watch Race" screen for however long the races are flicking through everyone, which... I doubt anyone signing up would want to do...

Who would watch the live stream? I can save the replay and watch it all day if I wanted to

Well Yes but people that aren't in the series could watch it or if the rolex drivers wanted something to do while they waited for the rolex series race

Do you honestly think they'd watch us?

Wait, you didn't just say this seriously did you? You basically just nullified your question with the statement afterwards. Lol

People who are on the livestream site who would be interested in watching a live stream endurance racing on racing games would want to watch this. There ARE people that do you know? It's like when people live stream MMORPGs like WoW, people DO actually want to watch stuff like that, because it interests them.

Maybe.

For once I think James made a sensible contribution to the thread, unfortunately, I don't see it working unless someone wants to give the time to stream/watch/commentate the race while not being part of it, just to get the full action. I doubt many people here would rather watch the race than be part of it, given the opportunity to choose. I know I wouldn't.

I think I know one guy but I will have to talk to him about it first

James, people disconnect as is. NO NON-RACERS SHOULD BE ALLOWED...
If the person doing the live stream was host AND not competing, as I've already mentioned, they could theoretically kick non-racers/non-affiliates to the series out.
