The Rolex Sports Car Series /Help Plan Season 2!/

polarbear345
Yep! I have a study hall tomorrow, and I have some time to kill after school, so I can start work on some guidelines.

I'll start now :P

Two cars are needed to have a full course yellow

In the case of a full course yellow, leaders will wait at the start finish line, and their respective classes will line up behind them there.

The DP cars will go first, followed by the gt cars for a lap at formation lap speed (60mph) and both classes will put this lap.

When exiting the pits, cars will line up in the way they leave. DP cars first. Cars will restart at the end of this lap. GT cars should give the DP cars a 10 second gap going onto the front straight.

This is just a start, well work in wave arounds soon!

Ok so 2 lap cautions why don't we do 3 that way 1 pit for drivers on lead lap and 1 lap for drivers a lap down then a formation lap

It would be cool to have a pace car driver lol. The pace car is in the game. It would be something that anyone could do. It would be like watching paint dry, but it would make cautions a lot easier.

True! ...James?... You were making cautions a big deal earlier!

I would say a catch up lap first. Then DP pit. GT pit. Wave around/catch up lap. Green flag so 4 lap, but whatever is best works for me.

Guys, does no one here remember that I'm a DJ?

I LIVE FOR SOUND RECORDING.

Otherwise, let's go *BIG* for Season 2.

In the real Rolex Series, the DPs and GTs pit on different laps during caution. Also, they ONLY run timed races...

In terms of cautions, let's run with a penalty system; damaged car must return to pits and serve a minute of penalty per damaged part.

Wave arounds occur very seldom, I've heard, but, it couldn't be hard to find their rules. Also, GT5 fuel is pretty similar to Rolex fuel wear. Fuel lasts about an hour in both series without refuelling.

I think that is a good idea

It is 10 o'clock so we've got a bit of time to figure this out because there may be a week or two between this and next season... This weekends testing was a total fail... (I forgot...)

I think the mechanical damage penalty is a great idea. I still think caution flags are necessary. When a caution is waved, the cars involved can serve their penalty under yellow. If one of us messes up by ourselves that is just tough. The rolex series uses wave arounds. I attended the Rolex 24 at Daytona this year. Nearly every caution had 5 or more cars trying to get a lap back.

Firstly, I can probably wire up my computer to record Skype calls, in which we could watch the replay, discussing the events of the race.

I have Storm & Damu on Skype already, and we ALL know about the Will Buxton thing...

Finally, I agree with cdn's ideas for pitting under caution. But, let the pit stops under caution count for position!!

I could go through this week and watch and record on my phone all of the races so we can watch then and then talk about ideas I will do the same for continental

please let me record sound. I went to school for music production for three years.

They need to. That helps the wave arounds too. If a lap car beats the leader out of pit road then he should get a wave around as well. We could run some test races to figure out all of the nuances and scenarios that can and will happen from time to time.

Heyyy, can you re send your last pm? I accidentally deleted it... Curse you 50 pm limit!

And I think on the first full caution lap the lapped cars go around (I don't think anyone's been lapped this season) <- in their class, obviously the gt cars have been lapped.

Ok have you been DVRing all of the continental and rolex series races on speed

Sounds good!

Mel, you can record sound! Sounds like your good at it! (see what i did there??) and you sent me one of your videos!

MrMelancholy15
I can't do the visual recording. I don't have equipment. I have a lot of equipment from DJing...

I could do the whole thing because on my phone I can get video and audio

Everyone can supply the videos. I think MrMelancholy should do the sound, but if James does the sound too we can see whose sounds better. I have no experience in producing/sound so I will just supply others with practice videos, highlight reels, and full races if need be.

Ok I will get started now with daytona

Ahh the sweet look of people working together and making progress! We could have a fun summer with this!

And I didn't think of recording on a dvr. How to you get the video off of the dvr?

I am working on some practice video right now from Laguna Seca.

James, I'm going to do something else with the sound recording. If you have a Korg microphone in a sound deadened room in your basement, maybe you can handle it too.

But, I don't think so.

WE NEED SOMEONE TO GET THE RAW SOUNDS OF THE CARS...

I can make a short little theme song for an intro to our videos... But, maybe we should have someone offer to run the visual aspects as I run audio.
